byronray14's The Decision | Need Suggestions

Postby Spandex_ on Fri Jan 24, 2014 1:43 am

I'm here to tell you the story of how the season 2013 - 2014 of the San Antonio Spurs went through.

The Beginning:

Peter Holt, the owner of the San Antonio Spurs, wondered, "what was missing?. Do I need to add more valuable pieces in the staff?. What more could I do to improve the team's quality?."

The offseason almost ended, Peter didn't resign Gary Neal, a decent back up at the shooting guard and point guard position, but he did sign the lethal 3 point shooter in the name of Marco Bellineli. Everything was going as planned until the current GM, R.C. Buford, met a car accident and possibly disabled for a year so he recommended his assistant GM, byronray14, to take his place. With that problem covered, it's time to begin the season.

Game 1

Transaction:

Image

Summary:

The game started awful. The Memphis Grizzlies made an 11 - 0 run consuming about 3 minutes of the 1st quarter. Coach Popovich called a timeout and planned out some plays to be used to get a good start after the rough stretch. Kawhi Leonard made the first basket for the San Antonio Spurs and it was a 3 point shot making the score 11 - 3. The game continued and Tony Parker had a rough night getting his third foul with 5 minutes still left in the 1st quarter and the score was 18 - 8, Manu Ginobili subbed in for Tony Parker and he sparked directly of the bench scoring 13 straight points off the bench and the 1st quarter ended with the score 29 - 33 in favor to the Spurs.

Everything went good in the second quarter ending the halftime with a 12 point lead against the Memphis Grizzlies. The 3rd quarter begun and Mike Conley was scorching hot for a period of time scoring a total of 29 points in the 3rd quarter and gave the Grizzlies a 2 point lead with 9.7 seconds left. Manu Ginobili made a great play and gave Marco Bellineli an open shot to make a buzzer beater to end the quarter and tie the score. In the 4th quarter, Mike Conley was still in the zone and scoring both inside the paint and 3 point land but he alone wasn't able to carry his team and the Grizzlies lost to the Spurs with the score 122 - 129.

After the game, Manu Ginobili tweets on twitter:

Nice thread! (Y)
Big up for Marco!
Hope he can finally find his place in the league, he deserves more space (and time) than he has received, imho.

btw i think he could be the next Ginobili for the Spurs, with some differences of course…

Thank you sir.

The future of the spurs would be bright if Marco Bellineli could do that now that Manu Ginobili is reaching the retirement age of most players. Kawhi Laeonard is a for sure superstar for me but I think he alone couldn't bring a championship to San Antonio once Tony Parker, Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili retires so he needs all the help he can get.

Any comments on the signing of Andrew Bynum with the Boston Celtics?.

Oh well, 5.75M $ for 1 year…
Not a total deal, but he's not a cheap player for sure and he's young and has at least 10 years of top plays ahead.
I'm not a great fan of him nor a great expert of Celtics, but i think a player of his caliber is very much needed in that team, so it seems appropriate to me.

Speaking about Bynum… i can't forget his revenge dunk over Shaq against miami back in 2005/2006 (not sure), when they started pushing out each other and got a double technical foul. XD

I can't remember that but imagining it is funny. Bynum is a crazy guy even in Lakers Land, he keeps on shooting 3 point shots.

Game 2

Image

Summary:

The first quarter was a good start for both teams. They were trading buckets from left to right and the score was 29 - 33 entering the 2nd quarter with the Lakers leading the box score. Kawhi Leonard and Manu Ginobili were both well oiled machine combining a total of 34 points of the 76 points of the team on offense and Tiago Splitter was a huge wall for the Lakers, blocking 2 shots by Pau Gasol. It was a rough 2md quarter for the Lakers turning the ball over 15 times just before the half time. Half time ended with a huge lead for the San Antonio Spurs, 76 - 51.

The Lakers took the 3rd quarter as a chance to make a come back and Wesley Johnson led the run scoring three 3 points shots in a row for the Los Angeles Lakers. With the absence of Tim Duncan in the paint, Pau Gasol took the opportunity and made the Spurs defense in the paint a mediocre while Splitter was on the bench and the Lakers cut the lead to 17 to end the quarter. Kawhi Leonard was still unstoppable and was still red hot in the 3 point land and in the paint making the Spurs win with a huge mark of 36 points. The score was 137 - 101 with Kawhi Leonard scoring 48 points, a career high for the third year veteran.

After the game, Zach Lowe tweeted:

Manu Ginobili will not play in the Trail Blazers vs. Spurs game and Marco Bellineli will start in the SG position after 2 slump games of Danny Green. #ESPN

Zach Lowe's Stat Scout on Danny Green and Comments:

"A high number of minutes should ensure a productive stat sheet but just shooting 16.7% in the 3 point land is just sad for Green. Pretty sure Coach Pop of the San Antonio Spurs will adjust his line up after two slump games from Green."

Game 3

Image

Summary:

Another sad start for the Spurs giving the Trail Blazers a 12 - 4 run in the first 4 minutes of the game. Each side lacked significant member, Manu Ginobili was not playing and Wesley Matthews was also sitting the game out but C.J. McCollum took up the spot and shown that he has the potential to be a starter on the league. The Spurs later caught up and cut the 8 score lead to 2 points with a minute and 53 seconds left. The 1st quarter ended with 28 - 36 with the Trail Blazers leading after 3 lousy turnovers from the Spurs bench. The Trail Blazers continued to be in the zone at the 2nd quarter having an 8 - 0 run and later made the lead to 19 points in the second quarter. Tony Parker kept the Spurs alive by getting to the free throw line a lot with his and-ones. The Spurs cut the lead to 11 points to end the 1st half of the game with the score 64 - 75.

The third quarter was the point where the Spurs tried to bounce back. Patty Mills lead the 12 - 4 run by shooting 7 straight points and dishing 2 assist for the Spurs. Still, the McCollum - Lillard backcourt was giving the Spurs trouble and Lillard made a clutch lay-up to close the quarter still giving them a 1 point lead to start the 4th quarter. Tony Parker was still playing at a top level together with Patty Mills and Marco Bellinelli put off the lead to 5 points and the Spurs win 131 - 126.

Spurs Announcements:

Danny Green will start the game after a sore knee injury of Marco Bellinelli. GM byronray14 is not happy with Danny Green's performance, looking for viable trades and opening the trade rumors. #ESPN

Yahoo Sports News Article:

"Coach Gregg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs caught a flu virus making him unavailable in the estimated 5 games of the team. Popovich is currently confined in the Texas International Hospital. There is still no news if the Assistant coach would take the place of the sidelined coach for a week, sources say."

- After 3 hours, Yahoo Sports released a fresh scoop on the status of the team -

"Gregg Popovich would be replaced by his Assistant Coach, Jim Boylen, although he will still be in contact with the players using the newest technology, the "Hoopcast Simulator." Coach Pop would still be with the team mentally."

Re: byronray14's San Antonio Spurs (6 - 2) | Multi-team Trad

Breaking News:

"Multi-Team Trade between the Phoenix Suns, San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks happened. More details on NBA.com" #ESPN

Image

The "Who got the most effective trade acquisition" by NBAinsider:

San Antonio Spurs (Score = +2):

Traded Danny Green (2 year, 7.79 million contract) for Vince Carter (1 year, 3.18 million contract) and 2014 2nd Round Pick from Dallas. Danny Green had obviously a problem with the Spurs FO refusing to play and practice with the team. A rumor rose that Green asked the FO to trade him as soon as possible. There's nothing the team could have done but follow Green's request and acquired the expiring contract of Vince Carter along with a 2nd round lottery pick for the stacked 2014 draft. The Spurs have gained lesser than what they wanted but it still is okay considering the team would have more cap space for the off-season and acquire a better asset by then.

Phoenix Suns (Score = +6):

Acquired a lethal 3 point shooter and a 2015 2nd Round Pick from Dallas for the up and down role player Gerald Green. The Suns benefited most in this multi-team trade because of Danny Green. Green still has a lot of potential and he has already the experience of playing in the playoffs. Green, despite the slump for 6 games now, still has a lot of time to adjust and fit in with the Suns roster.

Dallas Mavericks (Score = +3):

Traded the old aged Vince Carter and 2 2nd round picks for Gerald Green. G. Green has been astounding this last 8 games for the Suns and it seems the Mavs were interested in developing this young gun into an all-star caliber player. G. Green still has a lot of potential and even now, he has proven that he is one of the most athletic players in the league.

Game 9

Image

Summary:

Rought start for the Spurs and an unstoppable night for John Wall. A 17 - 4 run was made by the Wizards with 15 points from the total 17 points from John Wall. The Spurs made a bit of a comeback with Vince Carter's 3 straight shots behind the arc to cut the lead 5 points in the last 4 minutes of the game with the score 26 - 21 with the Wizards leading. A 10 - 0 run was then made by the Spurs behind John Wall's 2 turnovers and Patty Mills together with Manu Ginobili scoring 1 3 pointer each with Tony Parker also scoring 4 points in the process. The 1st quarter ended with the score tied 31 - 31. The second quarter was the huge leap for the Spurs making them lead by the end of halftime with the score 75 - 59.

The third quarter started with the Wizards hungry for a comeback. John Wall lead the team with 26 points still in the 3rd quarter and also dishing out 9 assists already. The Wizards cut the lead to 10 points entering the 4th quarter. Tony Parker was very clutch in the last 3 minutes of the 4th quarter with him being the only player scoring in the last 3 minutes of the quarter. Trevor Ariza benefited from great passes of John Wall making him earn 14 points of his 19 points in the 4th quarter. John Wall ended with 35 points and 19 assist along with 6 steals with the Wizards losing 136 - 133.

-- HALFTIME --

The Spurs weren't ready to give the Jazz the lead as Tony Parker leads his squad to easy points off turnovers from Trey Burke. Trey Burke has 4 turnovers in the third quarter. The score ended 104 - 91 as they enter the fourth quarter.

Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter combined an astounding 26 rebounds for the Jazz giving them a +21 rebound advantage for the Jazz. It still wasn't enough as the Spurs win the game 148 - 120.

GM broadcast:

Peter Holt, the team owner of the Spurs, contacted byronray14, the current GM of the Spurs.

Peter Holt: "It's been clear to me that the Spurs are struggling in getting rebounds."

byronray14: "Yes, it's very evident that our team lacks hustle without Tiago on the court. The Jazz dominated the boards tonight."

I decided to simulate all the remaining games because it would be impossible to contend for a championship without the team's leader. I started Patty Mills to replace Tony Parker and ended the entire season.

Synopsis:

R.C. Buford will come back to be the GM of the San Antonio Spurs after completely being healed from the car accident that endangered his life. byronray14's contract, as the assistant GM for the Spurs, ended and he can now be hired by any team of the league.

The teams that were interested in his services are the Cleveland Cavaliers, San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Mavericks. A complete breakdown of the teams will be listed below:

Cleveland Cavaliers: (A Messy Team)

*Fired their GM, Chirs Grant, after a really bad off-season last year following with the really small win percentage of the team.

The Cavaliers will be hiring byronray14 as a GM for $30.5 million for a 3 year contract with the team.

Roster entering the off-season:

Image

Dallas Mavericks: (A stable team)

The current GM, Donnie Nelson ,of the Dallas Mavericks retired just lately.

The Dallas Mavericks are pursuing byronray14 to be the GM of their team given the 5 year contract with $45 million on the table.

Roster entering the off-season:

San Antonio Spurs: (A championship contending team)

*R.C. Buford is returning to the team as the GM next season.

The San Antonio Spurs wants to regain your services as the Assistant GM of the team by offering you a $18.5 million 2 year contract with the team.
