Greetings from Portland!

Looks like this playoff series against the Rockets is a classic in the making. Hope you can make it through to the next round.

Looks like these seventh seeders are giving you a lot more trouble than originally anticipated. Hopefully you won't be too tired for your next series, although it looks like the Hornets/Spurs series is also going down to the wire at 2-2.

Also nice to see the Raptors getting back to the eastern conference semis (Y)

It wouldn't surprise me to see this series go to seven, but something tells me you'll win in six. Especially since Lillard guaranteed a Game Five win.

Lillard Wills Blazers To Game 5 Blowout Win
Rockets 94 @ Trail Blazers 110

Jeremy Lin had one of his best games in a Rocket uniform, but Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers would not be denied a game 5 win. Lillard and Aldridge had 37 and 16 points respectively, but both players flirted with triple doubles. The game was close all throughout the first half, with Lin and Lillard in an intense scoring duel.

It wasn't until the fourth period that Portland would blow the game open. Ramon Sessions and Wes Matthews hit timely threes to get the crowd going, and the Blazers went on a decisive 17-6 run. Chalupas were never in doubt as the Blazers cruised to a 110-94 victory. They will have a chance to close things out in Houston. According to Kevin McHale though, "there's no f***ing chance".

Paul Millsap had 18 points and 8 rebounds in the loss but went down late with back spasms and is expected to come off the bench in game 6.

Rockets Dominate Third Quarter To Force Game 7
Trail Blazers 94 @ Rockets 105

Damian Lillard scored a team-high 26 points and the Rockets were held to 40 points in the first half. Those were the positives for the Blazers, who were dominated by James Harden, Thomas Robinson and the rest of the Rockets. After a tightly contested first half owned by Damian Lillard, the Rockets responded in a big way in the third quarter. Feeding off a bevy of Blazer turnovers, Houston nearly matched their first half total in the period alone.

Entering the fourth quarter double digits, Portland tried to recover by bombing away from distance. That only made things worse as they found themselves down by as much as 17. Down 15 with three minutes to go, many were shuffling out. Damian Lillard wasn't ready to throw in the towel as he led the team on a 15-3 run to put Portland within three. James Harden scored a three-point play out of a timeout and a quick turnover at the other end finally allowed the Rockets faithful to breathe.

Damian Lillard impressed with 26 points and 7 assists, but was bested by Rockets star James Harden, who had 30 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds himself. The X-Factor however was Thomas Robinson, who put up a career high 26 points in what he called "the best game I've ever played". The Rockets force a game 7 in Portland. The winner of tomorrow night's game 7 between New Orleans and San Antonio will certainly be watching that one closely.

Programming Note

After the conclusion of 2014 Playoff coverage, this will be converted into more of a sim association a la my Bobcats one from awhile back. I'll still play significant games, but with the impending release of 2K14 (though I'm holding out for next-gen) and pretty much everything else in life taking precedence, the coverage will be stripped-down in favor of getting through a couple more seasons.

Thanks to all for following this despite the sporadic nature of the updates and the console change/restart.

At first when I read that T-Rob scored 26 points I was like "fuck yeah, good job on making him play a big part in the playoffs!"

Then I realized that you started your association before the Robinson signing happened.

Blazers Overcome Halftime Deficit To Win Game 7
Rockets 78 @ Trail Blazers 86

The Blazers and Rockets concluded what Terry Stotts called "the most stressful two weeks of his life". Trailing 50-41 at the half, the #2 seed Blazers faced elimination in the first round in front of their home fans. That seemed to light a fire under the Blazers, as they played their most inspired defense of the season in the second half as they knock out the Rockets.

LaMarcus Aldridge and Damian Lillard carried the team on offense, as per usual. James Harden had 15 points in the first half but was held to just 2 in the second. Portland made up for an incredibly dismal shooting performance from deep (3-21) with a major edge on the boards and points in the paint. Paul Millsap played just 14 minutes as his back spasms persisted.

Portland will face New Orleans in the conference semifinals. The Hornets, who acquired Blazers favorite Nicolas Batum in a three-team trade are also coming off a game 7, having defeated the Spurs.

HOU 24 26 10 18 | 78 - Harden: 18/3/1; T. Robinson: 17/7/1, 7-21 FG; Asik: 12/13/0

Hornets dominate in third, Steal Game 1
Hornets 116 @ Trail Blazers 98

"Embarrassing, that's the only way I can describe it", commented Blazers coach Terry Stotts after game 1 of the conference semifinals. At home, facing another team coming off a game 1, the Blazers played a solid first half, but completely imploded in the third period. The frontcourt duo of Anthony Davis and Ryan Anderson destroyed Portland with their inside-out attack, and individual brilliance from Damian Lillard and LaMarcus Aldridge just wasn't enough.

The Blazers tried making runs in the fourth, but a turnover or Hornets three would always interrupt the rhythm. The Blazers made all of their free throws but were dominated in the paint and shot a dismal 8-23 from beyond the arc. Damian Lillard and Wesley Matthews both called game 2 a "must-win".

Blazers Mount Epic Comeback, Win Game 2 In OT
Hornets 128 @ Trail Blazers 132 [OT]

It looked like all hope was lost. After a discouraging performance in front of their home crowd in game 1, the Blazers faced a 22 point deficit late in the third quarter of game 2. Two threes out of a timeout were all the Blazers needed to develop a sense of urgency.

Portland opened the fourth quarter on a 17-6 run and continued to chip away from there. The three ball, absent in game one, was a huge factor for the Blazers. However, the dynamic duo of Ryan Anderson and Anthony Davis made a few big plays down the stretch, and it took a tip-in from J.J. Hickson with 5 seconds to go to force overtime.

New Orleans opened overtime with five quick points, triggering a timeout. Aldridge went to work in the overtime period, scoring 8 points and converting all of his attempts. It wasn't until Greivis Vasquez made a costly turnover with 30 seconds to go, sparking a Damian Lillard layup, that the Blazers were able to breathe. With the series now tied, the two teams will play again on Saturday in New Orleans.

Hadn't realized it's been so long since I've updated this, but you know how life is. It's unfortunate that Association Mode hasn't been improved since 2K10, but maybe next-gen games and EA releasing a game will change that. Anyway,

Blazers Get Homecourt Advantage Back With First Half Shooting Clinic
Trail Blazers 103 @ Hornets 95

Portland played easily their most confident basketball after barely splitting the first two games at the Rose Garden with a big win over New Orleans. An 8-0 run made by Eric Gordon himself prevented the game from getting out of hand early on, but the Blazers used 59% shooting from the field in the first half to lead by 15 points at intermission.

The Hornets' offense came alive in the third, but Damian Lillard scored 16 of his 36 points in the third quarter. The Hornets made a run in the fourth quarter to trim the deficit to eight, but that was as close as it would get as Lillard and Aldridge were on their games tonight. Anthony Davis had a tremendous performance but Ryan Anderson had his worst game of the series and the team struggled from outside. The Blazers steal back homecourt advantage and will hope to have an opportunity to close the team out at home with a Game 4 win.

Eric Gordon Scores 38, But Batum The Hero With Game Winning Jam
Trail Blazers 101 @ Hornets 103

In a game in which superstars Damian Lillard and Anthony Davis were struggling, it was a clear opportunity for somebody to shine. That somebody was Eric Gordon. Both overpaid and underrated, Gordon's image has struggled as injuries have hindered his career, but after a mostly healthy season and a huge playoff game, Eric Gordon is back.

The game was close throughout. With New Orleans routinely doubling Lillard, Portland needed contributions from the bench, and that kept them in the game, despite Eric Gordon's enslaught from outside. It was a back-and-forth affair until the end, in which the the Blazers found themselves down 2 with 30 seconds to go.

Lillard bricked a contested fadeaway but Hickson kept it alive and Aldridge retrieved the ball for an easy dunk. New Orleans took a timeout and with 13 seconds to go, most expected Gordon to go for the win and 40 points. Instead, Greivis Vasquez dribbled out the clock before noticing an open Nicolas Batum, who threw down was was likely the dunk of the playoffs. With 1.4 seconds and no timeouts, Portland failed to get up a shot, and the Hornets can celebrate a 2-2 series.

Going from potentially 3-1 to 2-2 is always heartbreaking, but I don't think you're too overmatched when it comes to talent-level. I bet Batum must have been mean muggin' something fierce after dunking home the game winner against his home team.

Gordon Drops 41, Hornets Mount Incredible Comeback, Blazers Win Anyway
Hornets 103 @ Trail Blazers 105

In what was one of the most epic games of the playoffs so far, the Blazers saw a 20 point fourth quarter lead become a five point deficit, but weathered the storm and won the game on a LaMarcus Aldridge game winner.

LaMarcus Aldridge's fingerprints were all over this from the get-go. The big man had his best performance of the playoffs, dominating the boards and being Portland's most reliable scoring option. Lillard struggled early, but eventually more than made up for it with 24 points and 12 assists. Portland made a run late in the second quarter that gave them a commanding lead.

New Orleans couldn't hit a shot in the third quarter and saw the Blazer lead swell to 18. It got as high as 20 in the third quarter, but a pivotal 8 second violation changed everything. New Orleans proceded to take the lead with a 33-8 run that left the sold out Portland crowd baffled with two minutes to play. Terry Stotts called his starters back in, and their composure and tight defense helped them tie the game with a 7-2 run.

With 40 seconds left and the ball, Eric Gordon knew that a big shot here, on top of a 41 point performance, would make this his coming out party. Sadly for him, Wesley Matthews swatted his three point attempt, and took a timeout with 20 seconds to go. Damian Lillard dribbled the clock out, then kicked it out to Aldridge, who was open courtesy of a Vince Carter screen. He threw up a shot from mid-range and banked it in. The crowd was deafening.

Lillard Outduels Davis, Blazers Move On To WCF
Trail Blazers 99 @ Hornets 91

Damian Lillard was taken 6th in the draft, while Anthony Davis was taken first. However, Lillard won rookie of the year. Both players made the all-star team this season, but though Davis may have higher upside, Lillard has the upper hand for now. Outscoring his 2012 draft class mate 35-34, and his Blazers winning the game 99-91, Damian Lillard has established his supremacy.

New Orleans came out of the gates with more energy, but the Blazers close the second quarter on a run to lead by three at the half. The game remained close in the third, with both teams locking down on defense. Portland took a double digit lead in the fourth off a pair of Damian Lillard threes and that would prove insurmountable. The Hornets came as close as within 7, but the Blazers held them off to win 99-91, and advance to the conference semifinals, where they will face the winner of the Thunder/Warriors series.

Lillard Dominates As Blazers Steal Game 1
Trail Blazers 99 @ Thunder 91

Many experts predict that the Thunder/Blazers conference final round will go to seven games, and Portland has drawn first blood, winning by eight. With Russell Westbrook in more of a playmaking role (9 points, 14 assists), the game was more of a duel between Damian Lillard and Kevin Durant. Lillard drilled five treys and helped Portland maintain a lead all game as they hold off OKC.

LaMarcus Aldridge also came up big with a very efficient outing, but it was the second year guard's 31 points and 13 assists that stole the show. Durant and Kevin Martin posted 27 and 18 for the losing side respectively. Game 2 will also be in Oklahoma City, and Kevin Durant has guaranteed that the Thunder will not only win, but "dominate".

The Oklahoma City Thunder made a statement in game 2 after Durant's promise of a dominating win after losing the first one. Damian Lillard's 3 early fouls loomed large as the Thunder followed a strong first half with a run to start the third quarter in which Portland would not recover. Russell Westbrook broke out with 25 points, while teammate Kevin Durant led the team with 28.

OKC won the game at the free throw line - outscoring the Blazers by 22 from the charity stripe. Lillard, who led all point guards in personal fouls during the regular season, fouled out early in the fourth period, halting the Blazers' attempts at one last run. Games 3 and 4 will be played in Portland.

Seems Westbrook got angry after game one and made you pay in game two.

The series being tied at 1-1 is handy heading into two home games though. Good luck and hopefully whoever wins will be facing the Bulls in the finals

Good job getting the split, but that game #2 blowout doesn't bode well for the rest of the series. Lillard struggling, then no hope.

Thanks dudes. I'll have up games 3 and 4 in Portland soon as soon as I finish playing game #4. Will Portland continue their Cinderella run to the finals?

Portland's Dominant Offense Nets Them 2-1 Series Lead
Thunder 105 @ Trail Blazers 117

Lillard and Matthews combined for 48 points and the Blazers committed 11 less turnovers than the former Sonics in a crowd-pleasing game 3 win. The high-octane first half saw no shortage of scoring, with Wes Matthews posting a game-high 20 first half points. The third quarter however, belonged to Russell Westbrook, who carried the Thunder through a rare cold spell by Kevin Durant.

OKC still found itself down 9 entering the fourth though, and when they finally locked down on Portland's outside attack, the Blazers went into the paint. Several unsuccessful runs later, Portland found itself victorious, 117-105. Shockingly, most teams who go up 2-1 go on to win the series. Still, game 4 in Portland will be quite pivotal.

OKC 27 26 27 25 - Westbrook: 35/4/7; Durant: 22/11/5; K. Martin: 12/3/4
POR 30 30 29 28 - Matthews: 26/2/3; Lillard: 22/5/10; Hickson: 12/8/0. 6-6 FG

Thunder Pull Away In Second Quarter To Knot Series
Thunder 96 @ Trail Blazers 82

The Thunder used a dominant second quarter courtesy of several Blazers turnovers to tie the series going home. Wesley Matthews and Damian Lillard were on their game from beyond the arc, but the Blazers received little help from their reserves. The duo of Durant and Westbrook could barely be contained, and opened things up for the likes of Ibaka and Kevin Martin.

The Blazers, to their credit, were never quite out of this one until the end Unfortunately, all of their attempts at a comeback would prove fruitless. Damian Lillard had a solid outing, but was outplayed by fellow star guard Russell Westbrook. Durant and Aldridge had solid outings, but ultimately this is a game the Blazers would like to forget. OKC now has homecourt advantage again, making it even more clear that this isn't going to be easy.

OKC 19 33 21 23 | 96 - Westbrook: 26/4/11; Durant: 20/5/5; Martin: 13/2/2
POR 23 18 21 20 | 82 - Lillard: 23/5/0; Aldridge: 18/8/1; Matthews: 17/2/3
