Rudy Gay and Pau Gasol traded in a five-team deal!

Postby Durant35 on Mon Feb 04, 2013 11:18 pm

Rudy Gay and Pau Gasol dealt to different teams in five-team deal

Image
#22 Rudy Gay as a Memphis Grizzlies Player attacking the Los Angeles Lakers #16 Pau Gasol

Just as both of the conference have enough stars, a five-team deal struck the whole world. In this deal, it involved Former NBA Champion Pau Gasol and Memphis All-Star Rudy Gay. The Grizzlies are clearly in clearing mode after not making the playoffs last year, while the Raptors are in search of a superstar.

The Superstar Forward has been dealt to the Raptors in exchange for Jose Calderon, Andrea Bargnani and Ed Davis, the earlier two were then dealt by the Grizzlies later to the Hawks for Pau Gasol and a 2013 1st Round Pick.

The Grizzlies also traded Center Mareese Speights to Oklahoma City and their 2013 2nd Round Pick to Portland.

The Thunder's Kendrick Perkins and Royce White got shipped to Portland for their 2013 1st Rounder, while Kenyon Martin has been traded to Memphis plus OKC's 2013 1st Round Draft Pick.

Meanwhile, the Blazers sailed out Joel Freeland and their 2013 2nd Rounder to Memphis.

Thunder recieve:
C Marreese Speights(MEM)
2013 1st Round DP(POR)(From Portland - #22)

Grizzlies recieve:
PF Kenyon Martin(OKC)
PF/C Pau Gasol(ATL)
PF/C Joel Freeland(POR)
PF Ed Davis(TOR)
2013 1st Round DP(OKC)(Traded to Raptors - #30)
2013 1st Round DP(ATL)(From Atlanta - #16)
2013 1st Round DP(POR)(From Portland - #27)
2013 2nd Round DP(TOR)

Blazers recieve:
C Kendrick Perkins(OKC)
F Royce White(OKC)
2013 2nd Round DP(MEM)

Raptors recieve:
SF Rudy Gay(MEM)
2013 2nd Round DP(MEM)
2013 1st Round DP(OKC)(From Oklahoma City via Memphis - #30)

Hawks recieve:
PG Jose Calderon(TOR via MEM)

Huge trade there, very complex. How did you manage all of that?

With regards to your trade idea at the top of this page, I think you need to remove Perkins going to the Magic. I think they would have no interest in him with their rebuild.

The trade that did go through however works quite well IMO. Perk actually fits beside Aldridge and helps them make a playoff run (I still think he is incredibly overrated though!)

I like Speights for your team too!

One thing, perhaps you could put beside each player which team they are coming from in brackets.

Edited and did what you said about them brackets. Anyways, I had the first trade, which is OKC-MEM-POR, go through. Then I traded Gay to the Raptors, then Raptors to Atlanta.

I realized yesterday that Rudy Gay's still in Memphis in my association, and I was planning a trade, so I thought, why not mix me in the trade?

Wow Ben McLemore went really late. When did you get this draft class? Also what do the Astrix mean?

I like you pick of Plumlee, you have a solid big man rotation now that isn't too aging.

Love wants out!

Postby Durant35 on Thu Feb 07, 2013 10:55 pm

Drew and Wes turn back time in Cleveland

Image

Remember the OKC-MIN series last post-season? It's where Kevin Love stated his distaste for Minnesota for failing to make a good playoff run. It has been years since the Timberwolves saw post-season birth with exception to last season. Kevin Love has recently stated that he wants to go to a new team before the season starts, and today it has already happened. Recently acquired Amare Stoudemire, veteran Anderson Varejao, Donald Sloan plus the Cavs' First Round Pick have been shipped to the Wolves in exchange for Kevin Love, J.J. Barea, Luke Ridnour and Chase Budinger.

Wolves Receive:
PF/C Amare Stoudemire
C Anderson Varejao
PG Donald Sloan
2014 1st Round Draft Pick

Cavaliers Receive:
PF/C Kevin Love
PG J.J. Barea
G Luke Ridnour
SF Chase Budinger

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other Transactions:

- Pistons' Aaron Brooks traded to the Pelicans' Ryan Anderson + 1st Rnd DP

KAHN!!

So is this the new Timberwolves' line-up?: Varejao - Stoudemire - Iguodala - Roy - Rubio

I'd say that it was a pretty decent off-season for them, considering that Love wanted out. They replaced Love, Pekovic and Kirilenko with Stoudemire, Varejao and Iguodala. Should be good enough for at least 8th seed if they all stay fit.

Love and Kyrie in Cleveland sounds like fun too. (Y)

Off-season Recap

Off-season Recap

Image

Image Image
Image Image

Pretty much a busy summer for the Thunder, but one that is very plain for them. Durant balled throughout the country, challenging and participating in Pro-Am games and lit them up like the way he did years ago in Rucker Park. Westbrook and Derrick Rose both worked out and has been working on their jumpshots. We also saw major changes the Thunder did this season, as they shipped out Perkins, Kenyon and Royce.

In return, the Thunder acquired stretch 5 Marreese Speights and drafted Duke Player Mason Plumlee. We can rest assured that these two will be a big force for the Thunder in the next years. Kevin Martin and Toney Douglas also came back for the Thunder and will likely remain with the team for a long time.

    Play Types: P&R Ballhandler, 3PT
    Height and Weight: 6'0", 172lb

Deserved Rating: ~63-65 (late 1st round/2nd round pick, not an athletic specimen by any means, but excels off the pick and roll. poor man's steve nash)

    Strengths[3]:offensive awareness, midrange/3PT, dribble pull-up
Weaknesses[3]:vertical, defence (onball/post), strength, etc. (not athletic)

Week 1: Thunder-cooked Pelicans with a pinch of Jazz

GAME RECAP | GAME STORY | TEAM STATS

Player of the Game: Kevin Durant (29 PTS, 9 REB, 3 AST, 3 STL and 1 BLK)
Thunder Down Under: Kevin Martin (15 PTS, 7 REB, 5 AST, 2 STL and 1 BLK)
Thunder Protector: Russell Westbrook (28 PTS, 6 REB, 6 AST and 1 STL) and Serge Ibaka (13 PTS, 15 REB - 2 OFF, 3 AST and 1 STL)

NEW ORLEANS, CA. - What would you think if I tell you that the Hornets have twin towers? You'll probably be saying, "oh you have no chance". Well, I can tell you, that's certainly what happened during Thursday night, but on the other team. The Thunder quickly made work of the Hornets, jumping to an early 10-point lead before the bench played.

Kevin Durant led the way with 29 points, and 25 came from the first three quarters. He was subbed out in the early fourth and let the Thunder cruise to a dominating win. Westbrook had a big night after staying quiet for the first half, as he scored 21 points in the second. "We just gotta come out and play." said Russell, who also grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 6 assists.

Ibaka dominated the twin towering players from Kentucky, as he scored 13 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, 5 short from the two combined. Kevin Martin has been stellar and asserted himself as the leader of the second unit, and easily scored 15 points and stuffed the stat sheet. It was a disappointing appearance for newly-acquired Center Marreese Speights, who only had 6 points on 2-10 FG. "He needs to be a little bit more confident." Scott Brooks stated.

Toney Douglas out for season, Thunder sign Nate Robinson

Image
Image

THUNDER INTEGRIS CENTER - The Thunder announced that back-up point guard is officially open for free agents after Toney Douglas suffered a season-ending injury (Torn ACL) during practice. 2 games into the season, Toney Douglas fell on his wrong knee while driving during a scrimmage. He was immediately taken to the Oklahoma City Hospital for check-up.

12:00 ET - Toney Douglas was diagnosed with a Torn ACL, one which puts you out for a year. Come back, and you find yourself a shell of your former self. This situation also happened two seasons ago, where Eric Maynor tore his right knee ACL and was out for the year.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Thunder officially sign Nate Robinson after reaching an agreement of 1 year, $600k deal. The deal was accepted by the league through the Disabled-Player Exception. This will be Nate Robinson's second stint with the club. He was first acquired through the Celtics-Thunder trade seasons ago. Toney Douglas has reached a buyout agreement with the Thunder and will become a free agent.

Thunder coasts through Heat at home

Thunder Down Under: Kevin Martin (22 PTS, 1 REB, 2 AST and 1 STL)
Thunder Protector: Kevin Durant (19 PTS, 8 REB, 3 AST, 1 STL and 1 BLK)

CHESAPEAKE ENERGY ARENA - Not too long ago, the Thunder sent this team packing their bags, tears in their eyes. Then the Thunder hoisted the Larry O'Brien Trophy right here. After that, they raised the championship banner before this match. What a way to torture Miami. The Thunder played uptempo tonight, and easily outscored the Heat on the first half of the game.

Kevin Martin led the way and created history in the Thunder Books, scoring 22 points on 100% shooting from the field and the three-point land. 9-9 and 4-4. Kevin Durant struggled mightily from the field, but was able to post up 19 points (5-of-12). Serge Ibaka was disappointing with 4 points and 5 boards, but had 4 blocks. Marreese Speights left the game with 3 minutes left after getting a hit on the upper thigh.

He was then diagnosed with a strained groin and will keep playing on limited minutes.

Game 4: A tale of two halves

Thunder turn it up, hang L on Philly

phpBB [video]

GAME RECAP | GAME STORY | TEAM STATS

Player of the Game: Kevin Durant (33 PTS, 12 REB, 5 AST and 1 STL)
Thunder Down Under: Nate Robinson (14 PTS, 1 REB, 12 AST and 1 STL)
Thunder Protector: Russell Westbrook (37 PTS, 2 REB, 11 AST and 5 STL)

Some say you're better off just giving up, well that's not the Thunder way. It's also not the Kevin Durant way. Scoring for your team is nice. Scoring 22 points for your team in clutch time? NOT NICE. The dynamic duo combined for 60 points en route to victory against the well-rested 76ers, with some of those coming in the fourth quarter, where the team scored 40 points.

Starting off, the Oklahoma City squad were very slow and didn't have their head in the game. Philly led as much as 15 during the first quarter, but the Thunder kicked things off during the second half and turned that deficit into a 10-point lead halfway through the fourth. Nate Robinson and Russell Westbrook thunder'd up the offense, kicking out extra passes and converting shots.

The Thunder finally secured the win through a Kevin Durant cold-blooded three-pointer that gave them a 13-point lead with a minute left. From then on out, the 76ers went scoreless. "Coach lectured us during halftime, and I guess we wanted to prove that we're gonna win." said Jeremy Lamb, who scored 13 points on 6 shots.

Game 6: Chicago breezes past Thunder

Postby Durant35 on Tue Feb 12, 2013 8:10 pm

Thunder fall to Bulls, 116-98

phpBB [video]

GAME RECAP | GAME STORY | TEAM STATS

Player of the Game: Derrick Rose (23 PTS, 6 REB, 11 AST and 5 STL)
Thunder Down Under: Kevin Durant (28 PTS, 10 REB, 6 AST, 1 STL and 1 BLK)
Thunder Killer: DeMarcous Cousins (24 PTS, 7 REB and 4 STL)

You can only hope to contain him. The Derrick Rose-led Chicago Bulls improved to 2-5 on Saturday night after disrupting the Thunder's offensive onslaught that paved the way to a blowout win. The Thunder trailed as many as 15 points during the first quarter, but was cut by Kevin Durant, who turned it into a 3-point lead after a buzzer-beating 3-pointer during the first quarter.

But as soon as the starters except KD came out, the Bulls shifted to high gear and never looked back. They executed better, got good looks and made their way to the foul line. Some were bogus calls, but they made up for it by contesting and intercepting every shot, or pass. Despite shooting 45% from the field, they got the W after holding the Thunder to 41% FG, 17% 3PT-FG and only gave them 16 foul shots.

They also had a season-high 31 assists and 20 steals. The defending champions couldn't stop it. The ball movement, disrupting defense and strong plays by Derrick Rose kept them slow and thus, a loss.

Thunder Killer: Kevin Martin (8 PTS, 7 REB, 2 AST and 2 STL, 3-12 FG%)

Okay, we may have to panic a little. Just like last year, when the Thunder started off 0-1 after this happened last year. Just when the Thunder had overcome the deficit, Tony Parker comes back. But the biggest disappointment was Kevin Martin, who shot poorly from the field and didn't have any impact throughout the whole game.

It was once again Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook carrying the Thunder offense, but it simply wasn't enough as several Spurs players had double-digit scores. They did defend better and forced them to shoot below 40%, but they were in the same boat by shooting 35% as a team. Serge Ibaka had a season-high of 16 rebounds, but only had 6 points on 2-of-6.

If we want to be successful, those 4 guys need to score.

Were Sefolosha and Speights standing down the other end of the court when you were on offense? Surely they can score at least one basket each

At least you won the simmed games though. :)
