A bit of that too.

Iggy's currently averaging 20.9 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 5.7 apg, 0.9 spg and as mentioned before, shooting above 60% from the field and three point range. Just checked and the MVP candidates as of the moment are (from first to fifth) JaVale McGee, Andre Iguodala, Kenneth Faried, myself and LeBron James. I'd say that's a little buggy. ;)

Ok yeah, perhaps just a little bit!

Those are some really good stats from Iggy though, shooting percentages aside, it is kind of the line that I've always thought he is capable of if he ever fully taps into his potential.

Yeah it's a solid stat line and the team's record definitely makes him a candidate. Having four players on there is just plain silly though and although my stat line is solid for a rookie role player, I don't know what I'm doing there.

The last couple of weeks saw the Nuggets' winning streak end at the hands of the Celtics in Boston. They then went on to win three straight, including a payback win over the Celtics in Denver following the 2013 All-Star Weekend in Houston.

The Nuggets exacted revenge over the Celtics as A-Train registered his first career triple double

What's new, Nuggets fans?

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't still stoked about picking up the first triple double of my career against the Boston Celtics last night. It was a tremendous feeling to have an all-around game like that in such a convincing win for us, against one of the best point guards in the league in Rajon Rondo. I don't like to get too wrapped up in my stats as it's too easy to take yourself out of the team's gameplan and become a weak link out there, but all players are aware of their numbers to some extent and I'm definitely proud of the accomplishment.

On top of the triple double, it was nice to get some payback against the Celtics. We owed them one after they ended our winning streak the other night in Boston, so it felt great to avenge the loss. Rondo's a tough player to guard, so quick, so skilled, and at the other end he's got such good instincts defensively. Like I said, he's one of the great point guards in this league.

All-Star Weekend was awesome, I had a great time playing with the guys in the Rising Stars Challenge. It's an honour to be selected, as Damon Stoudamire once said you never know whether you'll be back again so I tried to make the most of it. I was very glad to have The Manimal on my team and that we managed to pick up the win, though I wasn't too happy with my shooting. And yes, you all let me know about it on Twitter!

We've got a couple of days rest then it's off to Washington to play the Wizards. They're surprising everyone right now despite missing a few players to injury, second in the Eastern Conference right now, so we're not going to take them lightly. That said, we're very confident in our abilities after the season we've had, so we're not going to be intimidated.

I'll sign off now but I'll try to write another entry soon. The season has just flown by and so far, it's been an amazing ride. Don't tune out now, we're on the verge of doing some great things here in Denver.

A-Train? You mean Lord Tensai?

Nice MyPlayer Andrew. Weird that you are not doing a Bulls for like the first time.

I'd like to think my career will be a little more successful than that. ;)

Yeah it's a change of pace. If I were doing an Association I'd probably still pick the Bulls, but I don't have as much choice in the matter when it comes to MyCAREER.

In a clash of rookies, A-Train came out on top with a career high 21 points to go along with 18 assists

Hi again, Nuggets fans!

We're coming off an exciting game against the Portland Trailblazers...did you catch it? You know that I'm all about the team but I'm pretty pleased with the game I had, a new career high of 21 points to go along with 18 assists. While we still miss Ty, Coach Karl has given me a tremendous opportunity and I'm eager to justify the trust he's shown in me, so I'm proud of performances like this one. Best of all it came in a win, big numbers don't mean quite as much if we're falling short of our goals as a team.

Playing against Damian Lillard, one of the frontrunners for Rookie of the Year, certainly added a little extra motivation. He's got a bright future in the league and I relished the opportunity to lock horns with him. At the end of the day though, I'm happy we were able to get the win and keep our streak alive at seven games and counting.

We picked up our 50th win of the season against the Charlotte Bobcats a few nights ago and while we're far from done, I can tell you that got everyone a little fired up afterwards. There's still a little over 20 games left in the regular season and we want to make sure that we can lock up homecourt advantage throughout the postseason as we look to make a deep run. We also want to be in top form once the Playoffs roll around, so we're not taking our foot of the pedal, believe me.

My knees are still feeling pretty good as of late and some open looks have afforded me the opportunity to get up and throw down a few more dunks. I was very flattered to receive a Tweet from the great Dominique Wilkins after the game against the Blazers, complimenting me on a few of my slams. I'm nowhere near his level when it comes to dunking, but I've had fun playing above the rim when the opportunities have presented themselves. I'm far from the biggest guy in this league, so I have to pick and choose my spots!

After a couple of days off, it'll be back to business. In the meantime, check out a picture of my new billboard below, courtesy of the good folks at Nike. It's both humbling and exciting, another highlight in what has been an amazing ride so far. I can't wait to see what happens next.

The Nuggets are currently sitting at 57-8 and off to a 5-1 start in March, following a loss to the Hawks on the 4th which snapped an eight game winning streak. Andrew Begley was named Rookie of the Month for the second time in February, posting averages of 11.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg and 12.9 apg.

On Track With A-Train

Follow the life of an NBA rookie with our top pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, Aussie Andrew "A-Train" Begley!

March 12th, 2012

Image
A-Train scored all 15 of his points in the first half, while adding 11 assists and five rebounds in a win over the Suns

The exciting ride continues!

Although the Hawks handed us a rare home loss and ended our eight game winning streak, we've gotten back to business in the past few games. I've been doing my part - scoring some points, getting some boards, handing out assists, giving it my all on defense - and we continue to bring it as a team every night as we're coming up on win number 60 for the season.

The folks over at Dime Magazine caught up with me for an interview and even put me on the cover, which feels very surreal as I once visited their offices in New York during an NBA video game community event many years ago. I thought that was pretty fun and cool at the time, but to get involved with them again as an NBA player being profiled...well, like I said, it's surreal. Wonderfully surreal.

I was also honoured to be named Rookie of the Month for February. I felt I had a good month, found my rhythm as the weeks went by and helped us win some big games. The biggest games are yet to come, of course, but we still feel like we're in great shape. The loss to the Hawks a week or so ago definitely stung, but we bounced right back and that's a quality that all the great teams have had. At this point, we know we're legit.

We've got the Knicks at the Pepsi Center tomorrow, so be sure to tune in! They've had a tougher year than expected but we're not about to take them or anyone else lightly, with some very important games just on the horizon. In the meantime, check out my Dime cover below. I don't know about the "star" label, but I'm flattered nevertheless!

Thanks, got a good run of double-doubles going. My assist numbers really should be even higher but the game is a bit inconsistent in registering assists. Sometimes getting the "bad pass" deduction negates what should be assist, then there are times when a pivot or single dribble disqualifies you from registering one (compared to other times where you get credit for the assist when your teammate drives the length of the baseline). In that respect it's not completely unrealistic I guess, the conditions for a pass tallying an assist can vary a bit in real life too depending on the statistician, but it does feel a bit flimsy at times in 2K13.

I hear you on the assists, iam a pg with the Warriors and i make a great pass to Bogut under the basket or David Lee who in turn then passes it out to the 3 point line to Curry for 3 ...

So i turned on Chauncey Billups mode and tried to lead the L in scoring ! Averaging 22 and 6 assists with 6 rebounds too!

Oh that too, that's definitely annoying, but at least you usually get marks for "good ball movement". I do actually wish that I had picked point guard as my primary position though, as I'm finding it a lot more fun. As I said here in my Friday Five a couple of weeks back, it'd be nice to be able to change your position (within reason) after starting a MyCAREER game, so that you could optimise your place in the rotation or transition into a different kind of player as your career progresses.

I've had the same problem, I'm a SF on the Pacers and since I'm putting up 26-7-7, both Granger and Green are upset about lack of minutes. I could well play the point like LeBron.

Those are some really impressive numbers in those March games. If you keep that up you just might catch the assist-throwing-robot known as Dragic. :)

I'm going to give it a shot, though with less than 20 games left in the regular season it probably isn't going to happen. If the team ends up making a deep run, I might be able to lead the league in assists in the postseason. :)

Rookie sets team record in Nuggets' 60th win
March 18th, 2012

CHICAGO, IL -- Denver Nuggets' rookie Andrew Begley has set a new team record with 24 assists, edging the previous record of 23 that Lafayette "Fat" Lever originally set against the Golden State Warriors on April 21, 1989 and Begley himself tied earlier this season on December 5th, 2012 against the Atlanta Hawks. Begley, known to most Nuggets fans as "A-Train", has tallied over 20 assists on three occasions during the course of his rookie campaign. He is averaging 9.5 apg on the season, third best in the league, and 14.9 apg so far for the month of March.

He also added 16 points, three rebounds, four steals and two blocks as the Nuggets won their 60th game of the season. Their current record of 60-8 has already eclipsed the franchise's previous best mark of 54-28 and marks the first time they have reached the 60 win plateau since the 1974/1975 season as a member of the ABA, when they went 65-16.

On Track With A-Train

Follow the life of an NBA rookie with our top pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, Aussie Andrew "A-Train" Begley!

A-Train set a new team record for assists with 24, while also scoring 16 points in a win over the Chicago Bulls

Hey everyone,

First of all, thanks for all your Tweets after last night's game, congratulating me on the franchise assist record. I was honoured to have tied Fat Lever's record earlier this season, feeling that was a pretty big accomplishment for a rookie, though Ernie DiGregorio did have 25 assists as a rookie for the Buffalo Braves back in 1975. Yes, I did have to look that up!

Once again I have to give credit to my teammates, they were shooting the lights out as they've been doing all year. Pretty easy to pile up the assists when they're getting to their spots, working themselves open and knocking shots down like we're in practice. I'm also glad that the record came in a win for us, not to mention our 60th on the year. It was pointed out to me after my last blog post that the franchise's previous best record was 54-28, which we topped five games ago.

So...I guess that makes us the best Nuggets team of all-time? For the regular season, at any rate. We've still got a long road ahead of us and after the season we've had, we don't want to flame out in the first round. Even though we're out in front of everyone right now, there's some stiff competition and we want to be ready for them.

One final note. It was kind of weird setting a record against the Chicago Bulls, the team I was a huge fan of growing up. Back in those days, I used to dream of setting records in the United Center, though I have to admit I pictured myself in a Bulls uniform! However, I'm proud to be a Denver Nugget and thankful for all the opportunities I've had so far. I'd love it if I can have several good years here in Denver and I'd especially love to be part of a championship team. But one step at a time, right?

Don't forget to tune in today to watch us take on the Oklahoma City Thunder! We've got a comfortable lead for the top seed in the West but they've already beaten us once this season. They're a team we'll likely meet up with if we get far enough into the Playoffs, so we want to know everything about them and how we can take them down, when the time comes.

Those numbers are climbing! Sure fire for rookie of the year, wonder if you pull at Wes Unseld and get MVP too!

They've taken me out of the MVP race (as they should, though we've still got at least two candidates IIRC) but I'm only trailing Lillard for Rookie of the Year. I'm hoping that a strong finish and (hopefully) another Rookie of the Month nod will be enough to put me over the top; I'm basically averaging 14 and 15 in March, so I imagine I've got a good shot. I should at least be All-Rookie First Team. :)
