Looking at the corpse of Richard Hamilton IRL wasn't better I guess.

So glad Thibs finally benched him :applaud:

I just like to piss Leo off. :)

CHAPTER 13

Free agency was in motion and it wasn’t long before the windfall of decisions started a domino effect. Dumars and Bobby watched on as their targets fell one by one and quickly in succession after each other. The first devastating blow was Andre Iguodala going to Atlanta because Josh Smith signed back with the Hawks the very next day. Dumars had been trying to reach out to him but to no avail. Dumars felt that Josh stopped answering calls in the lead up to the announcement.
“There goes our All-Star,” Dumars shook his head as soon as he read an article announcing the signing.
Dumars had spoken to James Harden about the possibility of him joining the Pistons. Harden declined straight away. Harden and Chris Paul both signed new contracts at the same press conference to lead the Rockets for the next few seasons. That was a tough one for the Clippers to swallow. It did affect Dumars because the last player he really wanted and who was still available was Jeff Green. JR Smith’s agent had told Dumars that Smith wasn’t interested in the Pistons anymore. Jeff Green was the consolation prize for the Pistons.
“We want to make you a new offer,” Dumars told Green over the phone.
There was no need to ration out the cap space. Dumars was prepared to go all out for Green. Bobby thought it was a terrible idea.
“This is what you did with Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva,” he tried to talk some sense into the desperate Dumars, “Look where that got you. Nowhere!”
Luckily for the Pistons, Jeff Green declined. He was off for the bright lights of Los Angeles to play for the Clippers. This free agency period could not have gotten any worse for the Pistons.
“What are we going to do now?” Bobby asked Dumars.
Dumars picked up the phone, “I had a backup plan all along.”
Dumars dialled a number, “Hello?”
The call was answered but all Dumars could hear was a tone indicating that the call was over.
“Who’s that?” Bobby asked as Dumars put the phone down.
“Dwight Howard.”
“And?”
Dumars looked down, “He hung up on me.”

Richard Jefferson was in Dumars’ office and staring blankly ahead. He was an unhappy man. He felt that he had been treated poorly by the franchise and he was frustrated that Lawrence Frank wasn’t giving him minutes. Jefferson felt that Frank was picking on him because they had some clashes back when they both were with the New Jersey Nets. Truth was that Frank had once called him out for being selfish. Jefferson still held a grudge.
“I get the feeling you don’t want to be here,” Dumars stated the obvious.
“I just want to get paid.”
“Which is why you took the player option.”
“What would you have done?” Jefferson posed the rhetorical question to Dumars.
“In the process, you’re screwing us over,” Dumars was not happy because the cap space could have secured a superstar for the franchise.
“Man, I’m doing what I am entitled to.”
Dumars riled him up, “That’s why Lawrence says you’re selfish.”
“I don’t give a fuck.”
“Well, maybe you will give a fuck that we are waiving you.”
“Don’t care,” Jefferson was defiant.
Richard Jefferson left Dumars’ office and possibly an NBA office for the last time. Dumars bet that this was Jefferson’s last shot at staying in the NBA. He didn’t think any team would sign him again.

Jefferson’s waiver opened up a roster space for David West. The Pacers had chosen not to resign him and West was more than happy to sign with the Pistons. Dumars was excited because he felt that West would be a solid sixth man and insurance for the Oden and Monroe. There were still two roster spaces remaining and since Josh Smith, Jeff Green and JR Smith all rejected the Pistons; Dumars had planned to reserve the remaining roster spaces for two players.
“Welcome back to Detroit,” Dumars shook hands with the prospective addition, “I’m really happy you took my call.”
“I’m happy to be here,” said the free agent.
“And you no doubt know him,” Dumars motioned to another free agent seated next to them.
“Hey man, how you doing!” the two free agents were laughing and hollering at this stage.
“I know that things didn’t work out before and we all had a bit of a falling out,” Dumars explained, “You know, everything before was business. I hope that you guys can look past it all and we can start again.”
Both of them looked at Dumars and nodded to indicate their understanding.
Dumars began his sales pitch, “We want to rebuild our strong Pistons culture. It’s all about hustling and playing hard nosed defence. I would love for you guys to be a part of it. We want to get back to our winning ways and add to our championships.”
“I’m down with that,” said one of the free agents.
Dumars promised them, “I really feel like we can win it all. I really do. We have got Oden and Monroe in the paint. David West is a capable player who is happy to come off the bench. Brandon Knight is developing into an All-Star guard. We’ve got some other young guys coming up the ranks. We got this guy called Toroman. He is going to be an unstoppable player in the NBA. And where I think you two are really going to help us is to get us back into the playoffs and take us over the top. I think you will help us compete with Miami, Chicago and Brooklyn.”
He looked at both free agents and asked, “Are you guys in?”
Both of them were nodding.
One of them said, “It’s great to be back.”

Hmm Chauncey and ... Sheed? :D Dunno man, but as you usally criticize my signings I will return back the favor. West is okay, but your team has not improved at all. If Brandon Knight, Toroman and Bellamy don't turn out to be the thing, you're screwed.

Dumars is delusional if he thinks that...
1. Brandon Knight is a star
2. The two you signed can get you into the playoffs and get "over the top"
3. You can get on the same sentence with my Bulls
4. The Pistons have a respectable thing called "culture"
5. Toroman will be an unstoppable player
n lastly...win it all? You have been smoking something

Hope you guys lose 60 games (Y)

Hmmmm think it is Chauncey and Rasheed too.
West is a solid signing as long as the contract isn't too onerous.

BALL DON'T LIE!! Though, I'm not sure if Sheed retired, I think he's one of the players. The other player I'm gonna bet is like Ben Wallace or something

Boston Celtics forward and former lottery pick Jeff Green spurned an offer to remain with the Celtics to join the LA Clippers. Green looks likely to start at small forward for the Clippers after signing a 4 year deal for 26 million dollars.

Gilbert Arenas signed a 2 year deal, 13 million dollar deal to play for the Cleveland Cavaliers in a head scratching deal. Arenas’ role is questionable and sources have indicated that he has been asked to be the team’s number one option off of the bench. The Cavs are looking to rebound this season with young players Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson being joined by the number one overall pick Dorrell Blackwell and now Arenas.

The Cavs also signed Leandro Barbosa on a 3 year, 9 million dollar contract.

Nikola Pekovic left the Minnesota Timberwolves to sign a 4 year, 25 million dollar deal with the Charlotte Bobcats. “I wanted to be the lead player on an NBA team,” the young big man stated, “I can’t wait to go out onto the court and lead Charlotte.”

Defending Champions Add Baron Davis
10 July 2013

Baron Davis cited a desire to win a much coveted NBA ring as the main reason for deciding to make a comeback to the NBA and to join the Brooklyn Nets. “I wasn’t ready to stay retired,” the former New York Knick told reporters, “I can’t wait to get things going in Brooklyn. They had a heck of a season to win it all in their first season.”

Davis last played for the Knicks before suffering an ACL injury. He has slowly made progress and rehabbed to the point that he was able to try out for the Nets. After a number of strong workouts, the Nets decided to throw Davis an NBA life line in the form of a one year deal.

Nets are just yuck, they remind me of Manchester City, trying to buy glory, King is an idiot and most their players are tools (most).

Nice to see the free agency period didn't go atrociously for you. I like the West signing actually, especially since you'll use him as a sixth man. As for the free agents, I'll guess Chauncey Billups and Rip Hamilton as well.
