???:Rod Thorn is gone, and the season is about to begin, where can we get someone to replace him?
???: We'll be fine I know a guy that can handle this easily.
???: Who do you have in mind then? Do they have much experience?

???: Um, not really.. But he'll be cheap, and if he's unsuccessful by mid-season, we'll just start looking by that time.

???:-Long sigh- Well alright. give 'em a call

76ers higher new GM/President

AP-Philadelphia
After an okay season and offseason that looked good for the 76ers, Rod Thorn has decided to hang things up a month early of the season and at least two years before planned. Will Smith and other majority owners didn't really have much time to prepare for a sudden retirement. Some believe that the owners ran out into the street to the first person they saw asking them for the job. Whether it is true or not it isn't the point. The Philadelphia 76ers have a new man in town.

To replace Rod Thorn, Huey Newton was given the job to handle basketball operations for the 76ers for the next two years for an undisclosed amount. The AP was able to catch Mr Newton to ask him what he may change in the roster this year.

"Well first off," he answered. " You got that microphone touching my upper lip, move. Anyway, what I want to change in this roster is just about everything, keep the players we know we will be stars, and deposit the big contracts to be handled elsewhere. We start by (Elton) Brand and (Andre Igoudala) Iggy."

When asked if this was just for the fans or if it was more business as the NBA usually is Newton declined to continue.

For the past few seasons fans have been asking and pleading for the 76ers organization to trade Andre Igoudala. This season though, it may happen

Where will they go?

AP- Philadelphia, PA | Oct. 24
As stated by new GM and President of the 76ers Huey Newton. The team is expected to move both Elton Brand and Andre Igoudala before the trade deadline. We have been left with this question, "Where will they go." Of course Iggy is the star of the team but he seems to take a lot of cap space.
Also Elton Brand is still winding down on his max contract, but he has been having trouble delivering. Both are expected to play in the first game of the season against the Raptors November 2. Though Mr. Newton might move both before then.

In other news
Tyler Rooks A.K.A. "Big Smooth" from Maryland has declared for the Draft this year. The 76ers brass has already started scouting this prospect.

Pacers swap Leandro Barbosa for Elton Brand and 2nd round pick

AP- Philadelphia, PA | Oct. 30

The 76ers have made a trade involving Elton Brand after just 7 days of considering it from the new head man. Huey Newton was aware of the dip of production of Brand and the size of his max contract in its last two years. The Sixers moved him for ex-Raptor/Pacer Leandro Barbosa. Barbosa just has $7.60M on his expiring contract compared to Brand's $17.06M with two years remaining. The 76ers are expected to retain Barbosa in the case that he wants to return next year or go to a new team this off-season.

Note: i will only put the POTG on openers and some playoff games

ET and Iggy take over in OT to win

Image

This games started rough for the 76ers.

Through the first half the Raptors were draining shots left and right hitting 61% at the half and hitting 57% at the final buzzer. Doug Collins told his team to do what most teams wouldn't do so early after being down just 12. Start shooting 3's. All of the players responded starting with new pickup Leando Barbosa hitting to big threes to put the Sixers within 5 points in the second quarter. Jrue Holiday also responded by hitting three by the end of the game.

Though in the second half is when Evan Turner and Igoudala were really being felt. Holiday, Turner, and Igoudala all combined for 12 steals with most coming in the second half. Turner and Igoudala ran every fast-break coming of these steals and slamming them home, getting easy layups, or going to the line.

In the forth quarter if became a back and forth affair too. With Holiday hitting two threes in the previous quarter, Collins wanted him to take the final shot from three while the game was tied at 105. He dribbled up, waited for the clock to run down, and gunned the three but hit left rim and bounced out, sending the game into overtime.

The game could still be felt by Evan Turner though. Capitalizing on Holiday's getting his final six points in overtime. Holiday gave the Sixers a three point lead with his last made three in the game. After that the Raptors struggled to make baskets as the lead eventually moved to six when they had to start fouling. Igoudala ran through backcourt to try and wind down the final seconds as the final seconds and was final to hit the last two free throws to seal the deal for the Sixers towards their opening night win.

"My heart was racing in those final seconds," Igoudala stated. "I'm proud to see Evan (Turner) go off tonight and help us towards that win."

"This game should help Iggy's trade stock." Huey Newton told reporters when asked about the Igoudala trade. "He played great, but as many see, our frontcourt was rushed out there and we only finished with 22 rebounds at the end of it. That made it hard for us to get much of a lead and with Andre's(Igoudala) soon to be trade. I hope to fine someone that can fill those holes or score as much as E.T.

Report: Landry Fields declares for free agency

Image

AP- New York, New York | 11/4/11

SG of the New York Knicks Landry Fields has declared for this years free agency. Unhappy with the moves the Knicks have made this year. Last offseason the Knicks signed gaurd J.R. Smith out of free agency after returning from China ball. Fields has expressed his unhappiness to no longer be able to start for the team that selected him in the second round

"I'm not trying to create any rifts, but I wanna' start. J.R. (Smith) is good, but I established my starting role and want to be able to start for another team somewhere else if I can't start here.

This opt-out is a real surprise since the season is still very young with the Knicks only playing two games this season. Turner Sports will follow where Landry Fields lands next season.

Plan A| Iggy trade

Postby SuperHueyNewton on Mon Jul 16, 2012 9:53 am

Image

Iggy gets moved to Denver with Young, Holiday

AP-Denver, CO | 11/8/11

Coming off two losses both at home, Huey Newton could take no more. (Wow sounds a little childish) Sending Andre Igoudala, Thaddeus Young, and Jrue Holiday to the Denver Nuggets for Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari, and Andre Miller. This trade seems a little rushed, though the 76ers cap will open more moving Young and Igoudala at the same time. The 76ers will now have as much as $34.00M for this upcoming offseason for players they see fit since there is a lot of expiring contract on the team.

"I'm happy to be able to play for the Philadelphia 76ers and to be able to play with Ice(Italian Ice, A.K.A. Danilo Gallinari). I learned that the Nuggets were looking to move him and I demanded to be moved and I am more then glad to be able to play with a great friend."

Chandler, a player that was orchestrated to the Nuggets after the mid-season Melo trade from the Knicks exploded on the Nuggets roster that was led by him and ex-Knick towards the playoffs. He will be able to play small forward for the 76ers since they would have just been left with Sam Young after the trade of Igoudala.

Grades

76ers: B-

The 76ers were able to open their cap space while still grabbing some capable talent but still have no outstanding and it may be hard for them to move foward because of this. The new GM could be bit out hard if this trade doesn't work out.

Nuggets: A
The Nuggets were able to get a few up and coming stars in Thaddeus young and Jrue Holiday, and added already star Igoudala. This trade could propel the team into playoff contention if handled correctly.

Winners: Nuggets

Chandler, Turner take over late against Houston

Image

Image

AP- Philadelphia, PA | 11/9/11
Just a day after the Andre Igoudala trade, many fans didn't know what to expect coming into the Wells Fargo center. They may now though. Wilson Chandler and Evan Turner absolutely turned the game towards the Sixers favor in the second quarter on forcing turnover (Rockets had 20) while controlling the ball themselves (Had only 9). Fans were wooed by the dominance the two showed together tonight with support of Danilo Gallinari who concluded the game with 23 points himself.

The 76ers had trouble taking the lead for most of the start, many shots were missed. It wasn't looking good. Until coach Doug Collins told the team to play more defensively and clog the middle. The team started going on a few runs that went to the end where the Sixers led by 12 at one point and ending the game with 16 in between the margin.

"I was hot, but if it weren't for Wilson (Chandler) and Iceman(Danilo Gallinari) we would've been struggling. Evan described in his post game interview. "Even Lou was getting hot by we didn't chose the offense through him, um -pause- we still prevailed and this should carry into our game against the Bucks.

New GM Huey Newton wasn't wasn't available for question as he wasn't present for the game.

POTG: Evan Turner

Fresh Lottery list

Here a TNT we have been watching college prospects and have come out with the first lottery mock draft of the year.

Image

This list is being run by small fowards and shooting gaurds and its a very good sign for the future of the NBA having many dominant swingman. Right now many believe either Anthony Davis or Derrick Perkins taking the first overall pick, but I think Perry Jones will take the cake. He is a tall foward that can overpower even the like of LeBron James. He has that much athletic ability from just his size. Tyler Rooks is a player that is expected to go mid-lottery around the country, which isn't a good sign for teams like the Philadelphia 76ers or Brooklyn Nets since both teams are trying to make it to the playoffs but are looking at this kid closely but won't be expected to take him with 14-16 picks.
Drazen Petrovic is a real surprise. Not even playing college ball, he's expected still going into the lottery because of his wealth in talent. He's mostly a three point shooter so teams like the New Orleans Hornets or the Charlotte Bobcats will be looking at this kid depending on where they are in the draft this year

Continue following in the coming months for changes in the lottery.
