Barely noticed you started another story, Lamrock. I definitely don't agree with you choosing the Bobcats, but rebuilding them is a challenge I know you can't refuse.

I'd definitely be happy playing backup minutes in Philly behind Holiday... for now.

Marquee Free Agents Stand Pat

Image

Deron Williams, Gerald Wallace, Louis Williams, Elton Brand, Jameer Nelson, Jamal Crawford, Mo Williams have all picked up their player options for the 2012-13 season. This comes as a major relief to Nets fans, who feared that Brook Lopez and Kris Humphries would be the marquee players in Brooklyn this season. Super sixth man Lou Williams will be returning to the Sixers while the pair of point guards the Magic drafted sighed as Jameer Nelson announced he still be staying for at least another year.

J.R. Smith, Ramon Sessions were the only noteworthy free agents to decline their player options and enter free agency.

Four Bobcats to Enter Free Agency

Scrubs DeSagana Diop, Eduardo Najera and Cory Higgins will not be returning to the Bobcats next season, reports general manager Rich Cho. Derrick Brown will also enter free agency. The small forward was perhaps the only player who played well for the 7-59 'Cats, leading the team in win shares and true shooting percentage.

Franchise mainstay D.J. Augustin will enter restricted free agency, but is expected to have his offer matched within reason by Charlotte. Forward D.J. White is reportedly leaning towards accepting the qualifying offer of $3 million.

Bobcats Free Agency Status

Players: 10/12
Cap Room: $18.71M ($40.16 / $58.87)

Depth Chart:

PG: Kemba Walker (75) | Damian Lillard (62-1)
SG: Gerald Henderson (72) | Bradley Beal (73) | Matt Carroll (53)
SF: Corey Maggette (71) | Reggie Williams (67)
PF: Tyrus Thomas (73) | Bismack Biyombo (60)
C: Byron Mullens (63+1)

Definitely happy that I ended up being drafted by Denver. It's a deep bench; I hope I get some decent playing time.

You have a heap of cap room. Are there any decent centres in the free agency? Roy Hibbert might be a decent option, since he's a restricted free agent.

Bobcats Sign Greg Oden

Image

Most teams can't afford to sign walking injury Greg Oden to a deal worth $5 million per. However, if you're the Bobcats, you can't afford not to. The former #1 overall pick who hasn't played since 2009 will hope to be ready for training camp as he begins his comeback campaign in Charlotte. Oden holds career averages of 9.4 points and 7.3 rebounds per game... in 82 games over five seasons. Oden will reportedly lose his "Rib City" endorsement, but maintain his deal with Extenze.

Bulls Decline To Match Asik Offer, Bobcats Add Another Center

Image

Omer Asik was last seen missing a pair of free throws that would ultimately lead to the first round elimination of the Chicago Bulls. Fittingly, he is now a Charlotte Bobcat. Signing for a $12 million deal over three years, the Turkish Center will boost an improving frontline that already includes the likes of Byron Mullens, Greg Oden and Bismack Biyombo... I said improving, didn't I? He is expected to start at Center next season. In other news, Charlotte also signed another #1 overall pick in Kwame Brown, who returns to the franchise after a failed season with the Warriors and Bucks.

Augustin, White Will Return to Bobcats

The Hawks thought they might be getting a steal when they signed RFA DJ Augustin to a 3 year deal worth nearly $18 million. However, the Bobcats were quick to lock up their longest tenured player, matching the offer days before the deadline to do so. Meanwhile, veteran forward DJ White will return to the fold, having accepted the Bobcats' three million dollar qualifying offer.

Knicks did ok then this summer bringing back Lin while adding Sessions and AK47 !

Glad you brought back DJ & DJ both solid players imo and Greg Oden is a risk worth taking too.

Toronto Sends Bargnani to Charlotte, Acquires Augustin in Sign-and-Trade deal

Image

July 9, 2012 - Two lottery teams made headlines today, as Toronto deals leading scorer and former #1 overall pick Andrea Bargnani, as well as expiring franchise mainstay Jose Calderon to the Charlotte Bobcats. In return, the Raptors get newly re-signed point guard D.J. Augustin, improving big man Byron Mullens, the expiring contract of Corey Maggette and a future second round pick.

Andrea Bargnani has become a 20 PPG guy following Chris Bosh's departure. His efficiency, defense and rebounding leave something to be desired, but Charlotte needs all the help it can get to score points. Calderon quietly had a solid 11-12 season and may prove to be a solid mentor for Kemba Walker. It's also likely he will either be traded or bought out to assure ample playing time for Walker in what will likely be another lottery year.

Toronto loses it's "franchise player" and looks to end its four season playoff drought by rounding out the team and dropping his deal, with three years remaining at 10 million per. Mullens will push rookie Jonas Valanciunas for a starting spot while D.J. Augustin gives them a scorer and much younger look at the point. Maggette's contract is expiring and it's unlikely Toronto will hold on to him.

Charlotte Receives
F/C Andrea Bargnani (age 26) | 19.5 PPG, 5.5 RPG, .432% FG, 17.9 PER, .538% TS
G Jose Calderon (age 30) | 10.5 PPG, 8.8 APG, 16.7 PER, .547% TS

Toronto Receives
G D.J. Augustin (age 24) | 11.1 PPG, 6.4 APG, .341% 3pt, 14.1 PER, 49.3% TS
F Corey Maggette (age 32) | 15 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 14.1 PER, .517% TS
C Byron Mullens (age 22) | 9.3 PPG, 5 RPG, 13.0 PER, .473% TS

Your side from 1-8 doesn't look too bad. If Bargnani is anything like Okur in NBA Live 08, he'll be a lot of fun to control. I hope he can be the star.

Yeah baby! Mullens is one of my favorite players, but you basically got a pretty rich man's version of him in Bargnani. Props. :applaud:

Thanks for the comments guys. As you may know, this will be primarily a sim dynasty. As I rebuild this team, I will only play significant games and playoffs. The NLSC'ers might get to see their entire career to the end.

I feel like I fleeced Toronto a little bit. Augustin is cheaper but I think Bargnani is ultimately the better player. They traded for Elton Brand for some reason and now have Valanciunas though.

Quite a nice line-up you got already, I'd start Thomas and Bargs up front, but that's your call.

Tried 2K12 after a while recently with the Cats, first season thought of tanking, then got offered Eric Gordon for Kemba (Gordon wanted an extension lol).

November 2012 In Review

Record: 5-8 | 5th in division, 12th in conference

The Bobcats stumbled into a 1-8 start on the season, with another last place finish looking imminent. A shocking win in Miami turned the tide and spurned a 4 game winning streak. Andrea Bargnani has led this young team, averaging a career high 27.4 points per game on surprisingly efficient scoring. While he will likely come down to Earth, Charlotte fans have little reason to complain with the trade so far.

In other news, Greg Oden earned the starting Center spot over Asik, looking to be in great form after missing most of the previous three seasons.

Cat of the Month:
Image Andrea Bargnani: 27.4 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 27.8 PER, .622% TS

Rookie leaders:
PPG: William Sit (23.4)
RPG: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (9.4)
APG: Andrew Watson (5.4)

Monthly Awards
William Sit (PHX) West Rookie; Harrison Barnes (CLE) East Rookie
Kevin Durant (OKC) West Player; LeBron James (MIA) East Player
