Terrence Williams to replace Blake Griffin in Slam Dunk Contest
LOS ANGELES -- T-Lips, Terrence Williams of the New Jersey Nets is going to be the player replacing Blake Griffin in the 2011 Sprite Slam Dunk Contest. Williams, the Sophomore Forward out of Louisville, said that he is really delighted for this opportunity."Well I'm really happy that I'm going to compete in a competition like that. Slam Dunk contest is the highlight of the All-Star Saturday night, and of course everyone involved in it,has to perform really big. I want to win,and because I will be replacing Blake,I have to play for him as well."
Williams is considered a fancy player, and has the fame of a great dunker back from his college days."I'm sure I will leave up to the expectations!"he said.
League considered Williams as the best option for replacing Griffin, ruling out other popular names in the league, like J.R. Smith of the Nuggets,Shannon Brown of the Lakers,Joel Anthony of the Heat and DeAndre Jordan of the Clippers.

Props to KidJustin, for the prediction form
LOS ANGELES-- It was the best possible way to officially start the 2011 All-Star Weekend here in Los Angeles. The Rookies ,on a great match, beat the Sophomores, final score 96-87 ,for the second straight time and showed to everyone that the Sophs domination period ended 2 years ago.
Wesley Johnson and James Harden were the protagonists for the two sides, with both of them putting a show, but with Johnson being the one having the wider smile at the end of the game. Johnson got a the MVP award, getting the props for his great game(27 points) and the show he put on. "I'm really happy for this.Of course is a great experience and the MVP award didn't matter more, but I'm still happy to get it and lead the rest of the team to victory!"said Johnson, who had the highlight of the night ,with a windmill dunk in transition. Though on the league so far he's failing to deliver the same style,as the Wolves are currently 13th in the West, with Johnson putting mediocre numbers.
Harden on the other side ,who scored 30 points including a buzzer at the end of the 2nd quarter and some nice dunks, said "Well I'm a little disappointed that we didn't win the game today as we had the lead for most of the time, but I still enjoyed this. I came to play and put on a show in my hometown and I believe I delivered well..."
The crowd sure had much to see. And one player from the Sophomores left them wanting more from him on the Slam Dunk contest. Terrence Williams, who scored 16 points including a facial on DeMarcus Cousins and some alley-oops, surely had the crowd on it's toes almost every time he got the ball."I heard them cheering every time I was ready to get to the rim.It was something special!I believe I didn't disappoint them and I want you to know that I have more things to do in the Slam Dunk Contest tomorrow"
Over all things, basketball is a fun game, and these 20 players today, had fun and entertained all of us for sure.FINAL SCORE:ROOKIES - SOPHOMORES 96-87

Koukoulis scores half court shot as Team Chicago wins Shooting Stars
LOS ANGELES -- Bulls GM, George Koukoulis, the replacement of Bulls legend Steve Kerr, reminded of his old self on the first event of the All-Star Saturday Night, leading the Team Chicago to a win over the favorites, Team Texas, in the Shooting Stars final round.
Most of the times it comes down to the final shot, and this time there wasn't any difference. Team Texas had a great final round until the last shot, which took them 25 seconds, finishing with a time of 55.8 seconds. Kenny Smith, with his odd shooting style ,finally hit the mid-court shot and gave the stage to Team Chicago.
Chicago had a worse time heading to the final shot,as Gibson and Koukoulis didn't take advantage of Kraayveld's 100% shooting, but with Koukoulis hitting the mid-court shot with only 12 seconds passing ,Team Chicago got the win, with a time of 49.3 seconds.
Former NBA Legend and NBA Analyst Kenny Smith, had many objections over the final shot"He was over the spot.He shot the ball closer to the basket than I did and we should be the winners!" said Kenny to Charles Barkley and Ernie Johnson who were on the sidelines commentating the show. Koukoulis answer was swift though, seconds after Kenny's statement
"Some things don't go as expected, right Mr.Smith? The second title can wait until next year!!"said Koukoulis to Smith in a teasing way, holding the trophy in his hands. "It's nice to win a title, even if it doesn't have any serious prestige.Beating Kenny Smith was a nice thing as well,as he was sure in the locker rooms that the back-to-back was a sure thing" added "I think I'm still in form, even if I have to work that mid-range shot a little more.Good Luck to Kyle and Derrick for the rest of the events.Let's bring all of them to Chicago!" he concluded.
As always, how the Teams shoot in the first five spots doesn't matter that much. It all comes down to the half-court shoot...

Chris Paul wins second title, denies Rose his second
New Orleans guard, Chris Paul was the winner of the Taco Bell Skills Challenge beating Derrick Rose on the final, despite his 2nd Round participation was a matter of tens of seconds,as Westbrook was 0.3 seconds late and got into the third place and out of the final round. Chris Paul finished his 1st round at 36.3 ,while Derrick Rose headed to the final with a time of 32.1 seconds.
Russell Westbrook had a time of 36.6 seconds ,being an fraction slower than what it was needed in order to go with Rose to the final"I'm disappointed for this. 0.3 seconds is just too little time. I should have been a little faster to the dribbling part as I slowed down a little bit just before the first pass."
John Wall(41.2) and Stephen Curry(43.2) had many struggles in the shooting and passing parts respectively, which left them no chance for the second round.
On the final Chris Paul recorded a great time, of 28.5 and established a strong foundation. Derrick Rose was better than his first round, but missed one shot which made the difference, finishing with 30.1 seconds.

Kyle Korver beats Allen, Durant to win Three Point Shootout in third try
They side that "Third time's the charm". And that's exactly the situation with Kyle Korver. He came third in the 2004 shootout and second in the 2005 shootout. So this was his time. In his third try at the Three-point shootout, Kyle Korver managed to win the competition and beat Ray Allen and Kevin Durant in the final round.
Ray Allen started his first round strong with a score of 18 setting the bar pretty high for the other participants. Anthony Morrow had a score of 15, mostly because of his slump in the second and third racks.James Jones passed Morrow but not Allen and after missing the last money ball he got a score of 16. Kyle Korver didn't missed those money balls, and with a score of 19 established had himself waiting the next two finalists. Paul Pierce scored 16,and got Ray-Ray in the final. Kevin Durant was incredibly streaky and with 19 points, but the better time,he went with the best first round, and would shoot last.------------------------------------ ------------------------------------
------------------------------------ ------------------------------------
On the final round Ray Allen was an unpleasant surprise. 13 points only, and he said goodbye to his second title even before the other two players had their attempts. Kyle Korver seemed too hot,and hadn't been his missed money ball in the last rack he would have made the highest score in the Shootout history, passing Greg Hodges and Jason Kapono who had 25.He finished with 24. Kevin Durant was equally hot,but with a score of 3 out of the possible 6 in the final rack,he finished one point short of Korver and got the second place.
