2nd Year of my My Player Blog - THIRD Season

Postby Alphasim on Sat Oct 09, 2010 5:03 am

I've decided to redo this opening post to conform to current events on the site.

AlphaSports covers the play of Rick Daniel, my second year point guard for the Denver Nuggets. I role play in character most of the time to give you an inside look at his career. Rick is a recreation of my NBA 2K10 point guard who floundered with the Reno Bighorns and Los Angeles Clippers before finding the promised land in Orlando. You can read his adventures here. I started as a member of the Heat and got traded to the Nuggets partway through season two.

FYI: I've changed my blog's permalink settings and I'm going through this topic to update the links, but if I miss one and it links into the abyss, let me know and I'll fix it.

Very impressive. Its cool to see we aren't the only ones with this hobby. :) I'll have to read through your 2K10 archives later.

Here's a few of my favorite shots from my dude Rick Daniel's career so far.

Yeah, this topic is ancient, but posting here is probably better then starting a new post on the same subject. My "My Player" dude is still rolling along, despite my slow updates. He and the Heat have made the playoffs and knocked off the Bucks and the Bulls while holding the #1 seed in the east. Now they're facing the Orlando Magic. Will we win it all? Read and find out!

Image
Link is Here

You can also still go back through my NBA 2K10 archive with the same player as he fought through the D-League, made it to the Clippers and finally tasted success with the Magic in his second season (complete with fairy tale ending).

I'm wondering what I'm going to do once the season's up. Do I stick with Miami? Should it depend on if we win it all? What if my hometown Cavs offer me a deal? Do I go there and try and turn them around? Decisions, decisions!

Anyway, enjoy all.

Checking back in, I'm now on the brink against the Magic. Here's one reason why.

Image
No, that is NOT how you play defense!

Image
Getting us back in the game is hard after our team defense - not just mine - shoots us in the foot time and again.

Image
Here's our biggest weakness. Jameer Nelson, Vince Carter and Rashard Lewis each hit 3 treys, while I hit the only one for our side. That's a 24 point gap, so we're lucky we just lost by six.

Will I come back? Read the blog and find out!!

Well that was unsatisfying. We got bounced by the Magic in the sixth game of the Eastern Conference Finals by allowing them to take four times as many free throws as us. In any case, we're out of the playoffs and I've got my offseason to look ahead to. I've got a poll on my My Player blog, but I'll ask here too. What should I do?

Do I leave for a team I can be the leader of, if the opportunity arises? Do I leave for just anywhere, to get out of Wade and LeBron's shadow? Do I bolt for my hometown Cavs if they come calling, and try to save them from themselves? Or do I have unfinished business here in Miami? I'm looking for two things right now: a ring and good fodder for my blog.

This season was good for the blog fodder as I clashed with LeBron and Wade a few times (my best season was my Magic one in NBA 2K10 - I got mad at most all of my teammates at one point or another, the coach went overboard with the 'go small' concept and played 4 points guards at once, I anointed my mates with nicknames like Dwight "Moe" Howard and Vince "Half Man, Half Defensive Sieve" Carter, and ultimately I won the title and got Finals MVP). A tougher situation could be interesting, but nothing saps my desire to play and post like constant losing (such as during my 2K10 stint with the Reno Bighorns). I simmed the off season as a test (in a backup save) and got offers from the Bulls, Rockets, Kings and Heat. The Bulls would be a bad mix because I'm not content with sitting behind Rose - and sit I would. The Rockets have Aaron Brooks a point and the oft injured Yao. The Kings have some young guns but no real pg - a bonus for me, but could we win? The Heat and I nearly made the NBA Finals and would be heavy favorites this coming year. Which way - if those options were the three presented - should I take?

I plan on closing the poll and starting up my next season this afternoon, and right now I've got two votes for staying in Miami (Thierry and one on the poll) and three for leaving for Cleveland if the opportunity is there (all on my blog's poll). Anyone else want to chime in before I sign my contract?

I like this one, tough loss against the Magic.

Well, which team?

good question, i think if you want a ring stay in Miami. Building a team around you could be interesting but also frustrating when you dont win anything.

Hate the Cheat, but it is a nice contrast to LeBron in that you're keeping your talents in South Beach.

Into my second season, and after starting out with two straight losses, we've won two in a row, and I was Player of the Game both times. LeBron and I are butting heads right now, but hopefully that won't boil over. Oh, and there's a new poll as well. Will I make the All-Star team? Vote and see if you're right!

Big recent game against the Timberwolves. They're going nowhere but I reached a new level in my game.

Read it Here.

BTW the Magic beat us. Again.

I also earned this, which was nice.

Another couple games in, and I went off on New Jersey. A new career high in points, tied the league high in points in a game this season, and we got a W.

I was absolutely unstoppable.That's cool feeling, isn't it? :D

After a cold spell and some bad losses, we've won two more. In one I got a double-double with points and rebounds, and the next I got one with points and assists. I'm versatile. I also scored 31 in a recent game.

I'm getting better, and have won Player of the Week for the third straight week.

It's been a frustrating stretch lately. I've missed 17 of the last 19 games with injuries, and I'm not happy with LeBron or Wade, so go on over the blog and vote on if I should get out of town or not.

I'm finally back in the flow of the game, having had two straight 30 point games. Not much of a point guard I suppose.

Hey everyone. Lately my play has been down some, and with Wade hurt, I've been playing shooting guard more. Now though, LeBron is down for a few weeks. That leaves the following starting lineup to face the Clippers next game.

- Me
- Mario Chalmers
- Mike Miller
- Chris Bosh
- John Francis, our rookie center

This should be interesting.

One really good game running the show, one really bad one and now I'm waffling on asking for a trade. I took a poll and the results resoundingly said to ask for a trade, but man... it's tough to leave this scene with such a good chance to win the title. However, they probably don't need a scoring point guard and I want a bigger role, so maybe I oughta get out. I need to ask before my next game to have a chance of moving, so I need to make up my mind.

After leading a Heat team without LeBron, Wade and Bosh (he got hurt during the game) to an emotional win over the Lakers, I got traded to the below-average Denver Nuggets.

Image

Look at that starting lineup! Man, I moved down in the world. I'm actually easily the best player on this team, with Ben Gordon second, 7 points behind me. Guess who's coaching the Nuggets now:

Image

Patrick Ewing, of all people. This is going to be a tough rest of the year.

We recently went on a four game winning streak in Denver, on which I averaged 36.7 ppg. But then, Miami came to town.

We played hard but we just couldn't overcome the talent gap. Oh well!

We're making a run! We're 7th in the west right now with seven games left. I've improved to the point that I score 30 points on a near nightly basis but my team is still an anchor.

Image
I've learned to dunk, btw.

Image
Here's a pick of recent player of the week winners. I've won the Mar. 25th-31 one as well since this pic was taken.

Image
After a 37 point, 8 rebound, 9 assist win against LA I got cocky and started comparing myself, obliquely, to Kobe and the game didn't like that. OKC came down us and obliterated us. I played particularly bad that game.

Image
I set a league-high for the season in scoring in a single game with 46 against the Hawks in ATL. They just quit playing defense eventually.

Hey all; I'm still at it, so here's a quick wrapup of what I've been up to.

Image
I played the Bulls in the Finals while a Nugget, and it was my coronation as one of the best in the league.

Image
I had to dig us out of a huge hole in game five to win the series. Go me! (Read it here)

Image
I won Finals MVP before leaving Denver for a more balanced Atlanta Hawks team.

Image

I'm now helping the Hawks dominate the league. Check the whole story out at AlphaSports.
