Introduction
In my humble effort to do this story properly I will follow these things. First I will simulate season 09/10. Our goal as a franchise is to open some salary cap for upcoming free-agents. I hope I will somehow lure one of the biggest superstars in the league. Targets are Dwayne Wade, Lebron James, Chris Bosh and maybe somebody else. Of course that doesn't mean that those players will somehow magically all end up on my roster. I will be extremely happy and lucky if I will get one of the stars in free-agent waters and inked them. I will simulate month by month and will do a monthly update on the league(simulated). It will also be very difficult because we have to be contenders and at the same time make some space in salary department otherwise superstars will not want to sign with us. But I promise I won't cheat like loading until we win. You can always check current rosters couple of lines below. It also displays everyone's salary and remaining years in particular contract. Head coach will be like in real life Jerry Sloan and also GM will be Kevin O'Connor. Wish me luck and I promise I will do my best. I hope I gain some followers on my "new path" :)

Jazz's Front Office

Clearing room for the big catch
Nov. 29, 2009

11:00AM Larry H. Miller's office, Energy Solutions Arena, Salt Lake City

Kevin O'Connor the general manager and Larry H. Miller the majority owner of Utah Jazz had a meeting at 11:00AM at Miller's office in Energy Solutions Arena. O'Connor walks in..

"Damn it Kevin, you scared me, can't you knock?!" said Miller with sarcastic tone.
"Woow there mr. Owner, get a bell!!" responded O'Connor while smiling and walking into the office.
"Allways positve respond from you Kevin, that is why I love you so much, that is why I'm paying you so much" said Miller and looked at O'Connor like he was his best high school friend.

"OHH cmon' Larry, you're making me blush. Let's stop this nonsense and get to the serious stuff." said O'Connor and sat down in front of Millers's desk.
"Alright Kevin, enlighten me, with what have you came up now." interestingly said Miller.

"Well I'm planning for us to be in next year's finals, with two superstars, Williams and the "big catch". " replied O'Connor.
"Yes..? The Big Catch? Explain how?!" asked Miller while sipping coffee.
"We have to have money, because this is only what we can offer to free-agent stars, besides contedership. We could either go for a one big catch or two fairly good catches ."

"Yes...I'm still listening" said Miller, who was still very interested in what O'Connor was saying.
"We have to get rid of Andrei's and Mehmet's fat contract. I mean 25 million dollars for every then and now good performance? No way! We have to react ASAP before trade deadline passes." said O'Connor and changed position on his chair and continued talking.
"I spoke with few organisations and they will take either of them in a heart beat"
"Oh, right..." interrupted Miller

"But we have to make sure that we get an expiring contracts in return, right? asked Miller.
"Exactly and everybody knows that Boozer won't sing with us again. The matter of fact we also won't sign with him. At least he can do is give us some contendership look to be more appealing for super stars." answered O'Connor to Miller.

"Once again I'm impressed Kevin. People are literally craving for another Finals but the reality is we cannot offer them Finals this year but if we do it next year every fan we have will be pleased" concluded Miller.

They have then slowly walked out of the office and said goodbyes to eachothers and both went their own way. O'Connor went calling teams for trade offers and Miller went to launch with his associates.

Interesting team choice and nice start. The AK-47 deal is realistic and gives you quite a bit of cap. Some bad trades from the CPU like Shaq to the Bucks and Marc Gasol for Raymond Felton, but that's Live for you.

Constructive criticism: Its a little rough around the edges. I would recommend doing a more traditional lineup page like mine and including some pics if possible, but its not that important.

Welcome back to the forums!

Just to clarify, is this an NBA Live Dynasty story or an NBA 2K Association story? If it's the latter, we have a different section for Association stories but no matter, I can just move the thread if that's the case.

Very well. Just to clarify one of our rules though:

Anyway, no harm done; I'll move the thread. Good luck with your Association. :)

Andrei Kirilenko dealt to Kings
Jan. 25, 2010

Salt Lake City, Utah - Press - Andrei Kirilenko(UTA), Kosta Koufos(UTA) & '10 2nd round pick for Kenny Thomas(SAC) and Darko Milicic(SAC).

Everybody was surprised when today's trade was announced, involving Andrei Kirilenko. A Russian defense machine was along with Kosta Koufos and rights for '10 2nd round pick traded to Sacramento Kings. In return Utah received Forward Kenny Thomas and Center Darko Milicic. For sure trade rose a lot of eyebrows all over the league. A lot of indicators have shown that Utah is showing strong interest in next year's free agency. Resigning Carlos Boozer is now a distant possibility. Although for now they still have around +10M cap abundance for next year but they will still have to improve for some serious offers.
Image

There is also a lot of risk involving this type of speculations, considering that all potential super-stars can and probably will resign with their current team, even unhappy Chris Bosh. "We are aware that everything can go down the drain but now is not the time to be scared. If we can put offers at the right moment at the right place and of course with the right price, we can bring someone special." said general manager Kevin O'Connor at the press conference. Only time will tell if Utah is making the right decisions.

Mehmet Okur and Joakim Noah switch places
Feb. 6, 2010

Salt Lake City, Utah - Press - Mehmet Okur(UTA), Wesley Matthews(UTA), '10 & '10 1st round pick for Joakim Noah(CHI), Jerome James(CHI) and Jeremy Ryan(CHI).

Just after 12 days sending AK-47 to Kings, the Jazz made another kinda block-buster deal, this time dealing Mehmet Okur to Chicago Bulls. There were a lot of speculation whether Okur's physical given by the Bulls' doctors would meet the necessary standards for one trade to be completed. Okur had a lot of problems in last months with his right(shooting) wrist. Although his stats were all down this year, Bulls stayed optimistic and pushed the trade with 1st rounders through. Joakim Noah right now looks a perfect fit for the Jazz organization. He as en elite rebounder, a very good defender and has a low-cost contract involving only 2.60M per year. He has 2 years left in his contract and that means can be good addition next year when things will get interesting in Salt Lake City.

Image Image

The Utah Jazz is currently projected to have at least +25M dollars of cap room in upcoming free-agency period. But not everything is gold because Utah is known for it's cold and long winters which players, especially NBA super-stars, don't really adore. There will be a lot of lobbying before anyone worth mentioning will come into Utah.

Same old story, except Sloan is leaving
Jun. 3, 2010

It is time to face it, this team will never come into the NBA Finals like the old power house Stockton-to-Malone Utah Jazz did. If those weren't enough stressful days, when number 23 haunted Jerry Sloan, now for sure the boiling point reached it's limit. Jerry Sloan had enough and after 20 years of coaching Utah Jazz finally announced retirement. He is one of professional basketball's most successful coaches, with a career regular-season win–loss record of 1179-791 (as of the end of the 2009–10 NBA season). "I had the best times with this organization and I'm truly grateful for all of support I enjoyed during my coaching career in Utah. Never say never but my return to the court is for now indefinite." said Jazz's ex-head coach Jerry Sloan at press conference.
Image

Sloan has led the Jazz to six division championships and ten seasons with over fifty wins. He also took the Jazz to the NBA Finals twice, losing in the 1997 and 1998 championships, both times to his old team, the Michael Jordan-led Bulls. By the end of this period, he had joined Pat Riley and Phil Jackson as the only coaches with ten or more seasons winning fifty or more games. Although this year wasn't 50 or more wins-season, Jazz did come into the playoffs only to be swept in 1st round by on of the biggest rival in last decade, Los Angeles Lakers. Not even unbelievable home court support by the fans and an electric atmosphere didn't stop the raging Lakers. Time to rebuilt?

Trades give you a lot of money. You gonna keep Korver or trade him too?

Sad to see Sloan retire, I think the best coach today and 2nd all time (Auerbach).

2010 Free Agency, Jazz end up "empty-handed"
Aug. 15, 2010

All the Jazz fans are shaking their heads right now and can't believe how all the promises of D-Will playing along with another superstar, not including Boozer, went down the drain. This can be a franchise-breaker as D-Will is literally left alone, along with Paul Millsap who is frankly an undersized 6'8 power forward, although height hasn't stop Millsap, yet. Every superstar, not including Rudy G4y and Josh Howard, accepted theirs' player option to extend or re-sign the contract. No one in million years would thought that will be the case.

Image Image ¸

The closest Jazz came to inking a true superstars was Rudy G4y and even after offering $5.4 millions(5yr/86.50M) more than Grizzlies(5yr/81.16M) did, the uprising superstar decided to stay with his old team. Days later Josh Howard, the only true "star" left, also decided to go with Grizzlies although Jazz didn't bother pursuiting him. On August 5th, 2010 the Jazz announced they have came to an agreement with point guard Will Bynum and signed him for 3 years/$19.58M worth deal. Will Bynum will have a secondary role on point position and will replace Williams when he gets tired. The other two mentionable signings, happend today on August 15, 2010, were veterans Marcus Camby and Roger Mason which both agreed on terms offered by the Jazz organization. Camby was inked for 2 years/$8.00M worth deal as was also Mason (2yr/$4.21M). This is a worst case scenario for Utah because Kirilenko, Okur and even Boozer were all pretty good players and would make this team better than it is right now. Maybe the lucrative owners don't have any interest making this team better. To fill up the roster the Jazz also signed with: SF Quention Richardson(1yr/$1.50M), PF Luis Amundson(2yr/$4.19M), C Darko Milicic(1/2.17M), SG Jeremy Ryan(1/$1.58M) and C Kyrylo Fesenko(1/$978k). You can go check the official roster for upcomming 10/11 season on starting page, Current Roster section.

I thought Okur had a longer contract after signing an extension last season? Well your roster is only average now. Deron can't do it alone and you just overpaid Bynum. 6M$ ?? I mean I like this guy and I find him quite a good backup, but this is too much money, man. Camby is a good acquisition imho, gives you the inside presence you need. Amundson's a good hustler as a backup, Q-Rich sucks, same goes for Darko. Ryan is a D-League? Don't know him. And for Fesenko, he's a project.

This could be a good season, but only if your team really clicks.

Okur has a long-er contract...he had 3 years remaining when I traded him. As goes for Bynum he had offers from other teams(about 5M per year) and was very interested. I barely got em' actually :? Anyways it was an overall disappointment in free agent period..smh

thanks for you opinion man :) (Y)

Very interesting signings and trades, I was shocked that cleveland got Ricky Davis back, its been a long time since he's played for the cavs. Nice signings that you did by getting Kyle Korver and Ronnie Brewer, if you keep Brewer, i hope you develop him into a defender or something. This is a nice dynasty story i like it, a lot of good ones lately.
