Time to recap my last 5 games. After a 13 games, Denver's winning streak has come to an end in Dallas. It was always going to be a tough order to beat Dallas at home two times in a row. As well as this, The Nuggets dropped their home game to Utah, which sees them now at 27-13. Now for the feature game, which involves the Miami Heat at home:

Smith destroys the Heat



The Denver Nuggets have routed the Miami Heat 107-79.

It was dubbed as a game that was more likely to focus on three other players: Nene, Michael Beasley and Mario Chalmers. However, Earl Smith was quick to seize any attention that they might have, scoring a career high 56 points. This effort to go on top of the 45 points he had against Charlotte in the previous game. He had the hot hands and did the majority of the scoring. In fact, there was only one other player from the Nuggets to reach double figures, and that was Arron Afflalo with 11.

As for Miami, early Rookie of the Year candidate Rueben Walker scored 20 points to lead his team, while Dwyane Wade (18) and Nene (16) were both solid contributors. But in the end, the story of the game was their inability to stop Smith, as he was hitting shots from everywhere.

Nene had a strong game against his former side, being the only one close to registering a double-double, with 16 points and 9 assists. Michael Beasley hit the boards, but was quiet on the offensive end (5 points, 10 rebounds), while Chalmers played a good role off the bench, scoring 8 points and dishing off 3 assists.

Increased production

Arron Afflalo leads his team in only one thing, DNP. However, in the last few games, he has found himself in the rotation ahead of Louis Williams.
In his last two games, he has scored 11 points in 2 minutes versus Miami and 10 points in 4 minutes versus New Orleans. Coming into free agency next year, he is coming into for at the right time. The replay below is a dunk he made with 28 seconds to go in the 4th, which put Denver up by 3.

1.7 turnovers per game

Naturally his numbers have dropped since his time in Miami, now being a key member of my bench, as opposed to being a starter. I'm hoping to develop him though, because Chauncey Billups is getting rather old and NBA Live 10 will probably retire him as soon as his contract ends.

Those are pretty good numbers off the bench and if Billups retires suddenly he could easily step in.

Melo wins Player of the Month in the West!



The month of January has been a dream for Melo. He has been hot the entire month, playing with excellent consistency. He's been averaging 24.1 points per game and filling up the stat line, averaging atleast 1.1 in each category. The games in which Earl Smith has failed to find his shooting touch, Melo has taken over. He is a deserving winner of this award.

Earl was also in the top 5 for most of last season as well. Unfortunately the MVP race really pays attention to the high scorers, as opposed to people who fill the stat line. If anything, Melo should be sitting above him in the MVP race at the moment, but we'll see how it pans out.

Yes, the times I get to play NBA Live 10, I tend to play anywhere between 3-5 games in a sitting. Hence why I only do one feature game every 5. Glad you're enjoying it
