Well, I'm bored, so I've decided to start a dynasty on NBA Live 2005.

Image

Settings:

Difficulty: Superstar
Quarter minutes: 8
Simulated Quarter Minutes: 12
Roster: NLSC Current Rosters
Sliders: Andrew's sliders
Games: 82
Playoffs: 7-7-7-7
Seushiro's MM07 aiact for enhanced gameplay
Various graphic add-ons...jerseys, CFs, sweat patches, etc.

After a disappointing end to last year, with a sudden loss of aggression and being on the end of big clutch plays, ended up with an NBA Finals loss to Miami Heat, the Dallas Mavericks look to drown the disappointment of last season by going one better in 06-07. The offseason brought in Austin Croshere of the Pacers in exchange for Marquis Daniels, Anthony Johnson (traded soon after draft night to Atlanta for a second-rounder) for Rawle Marshall, Darrell Armstrong and Josh Powell, draft pick Maurice Ager and Greg Buckner and Devean George. With a revamped roster, the Mavericks were ready to seek their first franchise championship.

Avery Johnson spent Mavericks training camp working hard on fitness and offensive execution, as execution had been one of the spots where the Mavs really faded out against the Heat last year.

"Avery's a tough customer, but we all know that we want that ring badly." Dirk Nowitzki said after a tough pre-season game in which the Mavericks scraped home over the Charlotte Bobcats.

Roster:

C-DeSagana Diop
PF-Dirk Nowitzki
SF-Josh Howard
SG-Ben Gordon
PG-Devin Harris

SF-Luol Deng
PF-Austin Croshere
C-Erick Dampier
SF-Devean George
SG-Greg Buckner
SG-Maurice Ager
C-Pops Mensah-Bonsu

I'll get going on it soon. Just gotta figure out a way of making the screenies smaller.

DALLAS DOWN UTAH IN SEASON OPENER

Both sides had a rather lethargic start to the season, but Dallas ended up never trailing after taking the lead early in the second, to cruise home 110-96 over the Utah Jazz.

Although both teams were still scratchy even after a few pre-season games, it was Utah who jumped to an early first-quarter lead, as promising soph guard Deron Williams penetrated with ease to some concern by Avery Johnson. However, Dallas steadied early on in the second and ended up completely blowing out the Jazz to take a 13-point lead at the break, built mostly on a series of offensive rebounds by centers' DeSagana Diop and Erick Dampier.

From then on, it was a Dallas cruise to victory, but you could hardly say it was a great performance by the Western Conference champs. Deron Williams had some easy lay-ups and jumpers to score 41 on some flimsy Dallas backcourt defence, while Carlos Boozer had a nice game with 20 points and 9 boards.

"It was a good workout. We shot surprisingly well." Avery Johnson said after the match, where six Mavericks scored 10 points or more, with Dirk Nowitzki leading with 30 points, 7 boards and 6 assists. Jason Terry handed out 6 assists to go with his 15 points.

The Mavs face the Lakers next.

Well, first game up. I actually started this one a coupla weeks ago, but couldn't be bothered to start then. And I wasn't using the proper sliders, meaning that the fatigue effects did very little and the shooting sliders were a bit too high.

DALLAS RUN OVER LAKERS

Two quarters of stirring basketball lead the Dallas Mavericks to a second straight victory to start the season, this time over the LA Lakers at home.

"They shot a bit too well for us in those second and third quarters, and their whole team contributed." Kobe Bryant, who had 38 points on 17-26 shooting, said.

He was right too. Dallas had an amazing eight players in double figures, led by Dirk Nowitzki with 25 points and 8 rebounds. Jerry Stackhouse had 17, and Erick Dampier scored 15 in 10 minutes, which he contributed simply to the ball being put in his hands when he was at the right place. Meanwhile, LA had a mere two points from their bench, scored by Brian Cook. Lamar Odom had 20, and Smush Parker had 17.

After a tight first quarter, Dallas shot out early as Devean George hit a couple of treys, and Stackhouse showed some nice finishing. Although Bryant tried to keep the Lakers in the game, it was over effectively midway through the third. Both teams scored freely in the fourth.

"I was surprised by the way everyone performed tonight. The bench really did stand up for us, which was a great thing, as without those points, we wouldn't have come up on top." Avery Johnson said, pleased with his team's 2-0 start and on their better perimeter defense.

I see your using that onverted roster? May I ask how you fixed the problem with shoes reflecting pink?

Nup, I started this one before I use the converted roster, I started with the opening night rosters by...Frenchy? I simply edited it to include the trades (AI, GS and Indiana, trade deadline, signing of C-Webb, Miami acquire Eddie Jones, etc. )

Sorry about getting hopes up.

NOWITZKI COMES UP CLUTCH: DALLAS PULL AWAY FROM PORTLAND IN OVERTIME

For the second night in a row, Avery Johnson had to push his bench to the limit.

It worked as well. On the back of some great bench depth and a late comeback inspired by Dirk Nowitzki, the Mavericks rolled over the Trailblazers 120-109 in overtime to earn their third straight win to start the season.

However, it wasn't so for most of the game, as last season's whipping boys kept up, and even surpassed the Mavs in every aspect of the game. At one point, Portland's lead was twelve, but some scrapping performances allowed Dallas to claw back into the game and win it in the extra period.

"They tried their hearts out. I'm proud of the boys." Nate McMillan said afterwards.
"We played well. If we could duplicate performances like tonight constantly, we'll have a good season." rookie Brandon Roy, who had 26 points said.

After Dallas went into the first break with a 4-point lead, Darius Miles and Jarrett Jack fought back with a series of made shots, and some poor shooting at the other end. By the end of the half, the lead was five for Portland, and had only been cut as a result of two three-point plays.
"I just told them to keep going at them, press hard, and work their way back in." Johnson said.

And fought back they did. Dallas grafted the lead back down to three at the end of the third, and even though Portland went into the last minute seven points up, Dirk Nowitzki hit a few treys, and with five seconds left, and Dallas up two, it looked game over.

But with yet another twist, Darius Miles tied the game up with a fadeaway jumper with Josh Howard all over him, and Nowitzki's shot was too late to be counted. But Dallas steadied, and rolled home as Portland faded late as a result of fatigue and the lack of good bench players.

For Dallas, Nowitzki continued his superb start to the season with an amazing 39 points, with Josh Howard scoring 20 and Jason Terry having 19. For Portland, Jarrett Jack scored 36, but went only 16-40 from the field, and once again, the bench failed to make an impact, with just four points coming from Martell Webster, as opposed to 30 from the Mavs.

"We'll have to keep on working in training. Our interior defense wasn't too strong tonight, and we were really taken apart by penetration." Nowitzki said afterwards in the press conference.

DALLAS OUTLAST BULLS FOR 4-0 START

Once again, the Dallas Mavericks stood up on D in the latter stages of the game.

Some superb man-to-man defence helped Dallas overcome the Bulls 108-103, with Dirk Nowitzki showing up as a potential early-season MVP candidate.

"Dirk was fantastic tonight. Everytime they needed a basket, he'd just step up and make shots. We couldn't really stop him from doing anything." Scott Skiles said in the post-match conference, after Nowitzki had 38 points on 14-26 shooting and 10-11 free throws.

Erick Dampier continued to show some early-season form with an amazing 17 points and 14 rebounds (including 5 offensive) coming off the bench, while Jerry Stackhouse had 22 on a night where apart from Nowitzki and Devin Harris, Dallas' starters didn't produce much.

For the Bulls, Ben Gordon had 26 on 11-14 shooting, and Kirk Hinrich scored 31, but was shut down in the latter stages by Harris.
"I got some good looks most of the game, but the defence was pretty harsh in the last part, on all the guys." Gordon said.

The Bulls started the game on a tear, shooting beautifully, but Dallas managed to keep with them and a late basket reduced the lead to three by the quarter. This was further evened up when Jason Terry advanced off a screen and hit a three to level it up, and the rest of the half was a tussle for the lead, but both teams were tied up at the end of the first half. This same issue continued in the third, and both teams were level at 79.

Dallas sneaked ahead early in the quarter when Josh Howard made a pair of free throws and Devin Harris laid it in off an inbound, and steadied well enough to keep Chicago from scoring fast enough to threaten the lead. The game looked safe with a minute to go, but Hinrich had other ideas, as he leaned into Austin Croshere and completed a big four-point play to push it back to three. However, both teams traded threes, and after Andres Nocioni's three lipped out with twenty to play, Dirk finished the issue off with two free throws, and Dallas were home.

DALLAS OUTHUSTLE, "OUTBENCH" THE HORNETS TO CONTINUE PERFECT START

Dallas stood up at the right time in all departments of the game to oust the Hornets 104-97.

Led once again by Erick Dampier and Jerry Stackhouse, the Dallas bench was an important factor to victory, outscoring New Orleans reserves 41 to 6, and gathering a bunch of important second-chance opportunities.

"Everyone's really stepping up now. Only one of our players has won a ring. We're all determined to be a part of something." Dirk Nowitzki said after the game.
"We were outgunned at the end. They shot well, made big plays and we made too many mistakes." Chris Paul, who had 27 points on 44% shooting said.

Austin Croshere continues to settle into his role as Dirk Nowitzki's back-up, and came up big with four offensive boards, as did Dampier who continues to be effective starting on the bench. In one sequence of play, the two of them grabbed four offensive boards in a row before feeding it out to Jason Terry, who hit 4 of 5 treys, including two vital ones in the last two minutes and finished with 20 points.

However, Dallas nearly choked again in the clutch after looking like they had closed the door, like they had managed to do against Chicago (where Kirk Hinrich made a four-point play to reduce a margin to three points). After David West had made an open slam-dunk to cut the margin to four, Nowitzki's loose inbound went back to West and the German All-Star had to come up with a block out of nowhere by slapping the ball out of West's hands as he was raising back to dunk. Terry made the open three after they went down-court, and sealed the game for good.
"I was like...since when did he become Defensive Player of the Year? I had to run pretty fast to make up for the time I spent thinking about that." Terry joked after the match.

For Dallas, Nowitzki had 19 points, 12 boards and 3 blocks, two coming from when Chris Paul tried shooting over the seven-footer twice too many times. Stackhouse proved his worth as an impact penetrator despite
an atrocious field effort with 15 points, and Croshere scored 13. David West had an impressive night with 18 points and 14 rebounds, while his frontcourt partner Tyson Chandler had 16 and 10. Peja Stojakovic was the second-highest scorer for the Hornets with 20 points.

Once again, Dallas started extremely slowly as they got used to their opponents and got properly warmed-up. Chris Paul found his shooting touch early, and New Orleans went to the break 22-18 up. Dallas worked their way back in during the second to tie it up at half-time. As was the case in Chicago, the two battled it out in the third with Austin Croshere making a buzzer-beating three to give Dallas the psychological edge of only trailing by one point rather than four at three-quarter time. The Mavericks once again, were impressive in the final quarter and held on to win it by seven.

DALLAS WIN AGAIN IN OVERTIME

Dallas overcame a stunning 71 points by the Raptors' starting backcourt and the throwaway of an eight-point lead early into the final quarter to beat the Toronto Raptors 130-121 in overtime to continue their redemption of last season's Finals' loss.

Dirk Nowitzki once again came up big for the Mavs with 31 points and 15 boards, and Josh Howard added 27. Five other players reached double figures for Dallas in a performance which has come typical of Dallas this season so far.

"They had way too much depth for us..." Raptors coach Sam Mitchell said in the post-match conference.
Once again, only six points were scored by the Raptors bench in the overtime game as Toronto got career-highs from Morris Peterson (35) and TJ Ford (36), though Ford only managed his from 15-37 from the field.
"I shot really well today. I just penetrated and shot. Usually, I'd stop doing it after a few misses in a row, but I kept on hitting them and kept on going." Peterson said.

Chris Bosh also had a brilliant game, beasting the paint with 25 points and an amazing 23 rebounds, 12 of which were offensive.
"We really should've closed him out better, but he just kept finding ways to grab the ball. He's going to be a tremendous player.
Andrea Bargnani surprised everyone with an amazing defensive display, using his height to hold a block party of seven. He scored 14 points on 6-8 shooting, including two massive fadeaways over Dirk Nowitzki in overtime.

However, it wasn't quite enough.

Once again, Dallas was slow out of the blocks, allowing Ford some easy looks of penetration and going down at the break by four. However, Avery Johnson made some changes and the D tightened up in the second, denying Ford and Peterson looks, and slowing down Chris Bosh who had 7 boards at the end of the first. This resulted in a reversal to a two-point Dallas lead.

The Mavericks tightened their grip in the third, scoring consistently for a big 35-point quarter, but a couple of late baskets reduced the margin to six, and set up an interesting final quarter. The Mavs, with all their experience, should have closed this out as they have been in worser positions in their wins so far, but Morris Peterson inspired a huge comeback, and Dallas failed to make their free throws to seal out the game, with Peterson sinking a three to force overtime in a dramatic comeback.

However, it was the same story yet again-Dallas' bench depth absolutely ran over a tired Toronto side in the extra period, holding down Ford and Peterson with purpose and scoring quickly to settle the issue. The Raptors however, will be pleased with an effort like that especially after last season's performance.
"All we need is some more development, and we'll get there." Mitchell said.

Dallas owner Mark Cuban is at it again.

Image

The chairman of HDNet was fined once again by David Stern for making comments about the refereeing in the Mavericks win over the Raptors in overtime, which brings his offence total to around 1.7 million.
"The refereeing was ridiculous. It was as if they were rewarding the other team for playing hard and fouling us. Austin Croshere was kicked in the foot by a player on the ground just as he was about to make an easy putback and the referees just let it go." Cuban said in the post-match conference.

Uh yeah, just adding flavour to this dynasty, making it a bit more realistic.

That's a sick screen of D-Mase. Your a great writer, by the way. I think you should probably ad something to your recaps to make them more attractive graphically, maybe resize and sharpen those screen shots so they don't go like this:

[ ]
[ ]
[ ]
[ ]
[ ]
[ ]

And more like this:

[ ][ ][ ]
[ ][ ][ ]

I think that would make your recaps neater. Like what you done with your Toronto recap, but further it more. Make them slightly smaller, sharpen them, add a border and maybe like a graphic above saying photos or something. Very good dynasty though.

Quiet early season off-court

It hasn't been much of a dramatic start to the season in terms of blockbuster deals, with only the signing of the past-his-peak Vin Baker from the Grizzlies, and the trade of Flip Murray from the Pistons to the 76ers for a first-rounder.

However, this deal has left analysers talking, as with the 76ers starting terribly at 0-5, and possibly one of the strongest draft classes to come out in a few years, the deal might not have been the best idea. But still with two first-round picks in their hands as a result of the Iverson trade early in the offseason (;)), the 76ers may have possible short-term bench ability and long-term relief still on their hands.

Murray will play for the 76ers against the Mavericks.

SLOPPY MAVS CONSIGN PHILLY TO SIXTH STRAIGHT LOSS

It wasn't pretty, but it was still a victory.

The Mavericks overcame a late charge by the 76ers on the back of Josh Howard, who delivered a clutch three late in the game, before Jason Terry hit a game winner with six seconds left. Andre Iguodala's attempt clanked off the rim with Austin Croshere on him.

However, Avery Johnson will not be pleased with the way Dallas is playing to start the season.
"We've had these early-season games mostly against teams who didn't do much last season. Yet we're only sneaking through these games, which won't help when we play Steve Nash's Suns, Tim Duncan's Spurs, even Chauncey Billups' Pistons. We need to be more convincing." Johnson said afterwards.

And the 76ers were left once again, to rue over another loss to continue their winless start to 06-07.
"We just couldn't finish it off. We did all the hard work coming back and having that six-point lead late in the game, but we couldn't finish. And against finalists like Dallas, they will hurt us." Maurice Cheeks said afterwards, clearly disappointed.

Dirk Nowitzki continues to be phenomenal, making key baskets and ending with 30 points, 9 rebounds, 4 offensive. Josh Howard was important down the stretch and ended up with 19 points, while Erick Dampier continues to show that his new contract is almost worth it for the Mavs, grabbing a stunning nine offensive rebounds and scoring 10 points mostly off putbacks.
"Right now, he's just unstoppable. He's finding ways to pick the ball from people's fingers. Without him, we wouldn't have won a few of our games." Johnson said.

Philadelphia were led by Kyle Korver who had 22 points on 9-12 shooting, and Andre Iguodala with 20. Samuel Dalembert was beastin' on the defensive end, with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 8 blocks. Flip Murray was decent coming off the bench in his first outing as a Sixer, but was underused with nine points in eight minutes. Andre Miller had a harsh night, shooting 7-30.

The Mavericks for once, found their step early and shot out to a four-point lead by the end of the first, with Devin Harris passing well. Korver and Iguodala made their shots early on and the bench also frustrated the Mavericks as the lead was cut to two.

Dallas steadied and played solid defense in the third, but shot atrociously in the quarter at only 25%, and failed to take advantage of their great defensive effort, leading only by four at the last break.

The 76ers immediately started their comeback, as Iguodala found some good looks and converted them, and Dalembert and Steven Hunter hustled on both ends with boards. Korver made a three-pointer to tie the scores, and Iguodala dunked on Jerry Stackhouse to give Philly the lead. Another couple of baskets increased it to six, and Dallas looked wrecked and out of it.

However, Johnson's substitutions came at just the right time. Josh Howard came back on to make a three, as did Dirk Nowitzki. Harris made a steal and dunk for his only points of the night, and these baskets were made with only the cost of four free throws, of which only two were made, a big factor in the result. Andre Miller was intentionally fouled with the scores tied at 86, with Johnson confident Dallas could pull off a winning three. Miller missed the first and made the second, leaving the Mavs one down. Johnson called a play, and instead of setting one for Dirk Nowitzki, gave the shot to Jason Terry. Jet repaid the trust by hitting a three-point shot coming off a screen, over Andre Iguodala, and Iguodala's subsequent shot missed.

MAVERICKS FINALLY CLOSE PROPERLY

(4th-quarter intervention)

A brilliant final-quarter shooting performance led the Dallas Mavericks to a 101-96 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves to continue their brilliant unbeaten start, but Avery Johnson isn't anything anything yet. Neither is Mark Cuban.

"We started 14-0 in 02-03 and didn't make the NBA Finals. Although I'm confident we have just as good a roster as back then, we can't be complacent yet. We've only played two teams who made the playoffs last season, and both only went to the first-round." Johnson said.

Dirk Nowitzki once again showed his MVP ability, coming up in the clutch and finishing with 25 points and 17 rebounds. Jason Terry also made a couple of open clutch treys and seven free throws to shrug off a horrid shooting night, and Devin Harris had 13 points and 3 steals. Dallas got 34 from their impressive bench.

Kevin Garnett put in a typical performance of 22 points and 8 rebounds, Ricky Davis scored 21 and rookie Randy Foye impressed with 25.

After Minnesota had once again jumped on a slow-starting Mavs' side, Dallas picked back at the lead, pushing it back to one by half-time. A tough third quarter saw both sides score just 15, before the Mavericks began a flurry of points in the fourth.

Nowitzki made back-to-back baskets and the Mavericks led by four, and Jason Terry made open threes off dishes out of double-teams. Although Kevin Garnett and Mike James made their own threes, Dallas played it cool at the foul line, and closed out the game more convincingly than normal.

Well, I've played a few more four-quarter sims, but with a dodgy keyboard, it means that my defence is shocking. School's started, I've had exams, lack the time to resize, upload and do game recaps. Plus, the general stupid ability of AI's simply freestyle moving once, beating the marker and hitting a jump shot in the faces of advancing defenders is all too constant. If I twiddle the sliders, they'll miss easy open shots.

I traded Jerry Stackhouse and Jason Terry for Luol Deng and Ben Gordon, just to mix it up a little and get even more young blood (both should develop to good to great players), but at this current moment, this thing is on hiatus.
