Hello everybody!

I have just registered to this site, but I have been lurking around here for at least 5 years. I have to say, that I really enjoy reading and following all the association stories. Recently I got a PS4, which came together with NBA 2K16 game. After all of these years lurking around this forum, I have decided to contribute myself.

As you see in the title, I have decided to start an association with the New York Knicks. I chose the Knicks mainly because the best Latvian player currently in the NBA, Kristaps Porzingis plays for the Knicks. As a Latvian myself, there is no one else to cheer for in the NBA, with only KP and Davis Bertans representing the country. (First time in the history Latvia has 2 NBA players :D) The last decent player we had in the NBA, was Andris Biedrins, but he became a terrible player later on in his career and retired aged 28:( So I'm taking over the Knicks to make sure same thing does not happen to KP.

Besides, my other favourite teams Spurs and Warriors are pretty stacked right now and playing with the Knicks will be far more challenging.

I Will be using Shampoisbetta's roster, which can be downloaded on the PS4. Also, i'll be using EmbraceThePace's 2017 draft class.

Season length will be 82 games, playoff lenghth will be 7-7-7-7. Gameplay difficulty will be all star. I will be using default sliders as well and playing 10 minute quarters.

I think that I already know what roster changes I'll make.
I Think I'll release Louis Amundson, because I don't think I'll be using him anyways, and even if I do, there is no benefit, because he is already 32 years old and is only going to get worse, He basically is a waste of a roster space :D I Think I Might sign Carlos Boozer or even bring Amare back to New york. I am leaning towards the latter option, because i want to give O'Quinn good playing time and IMO, i need a better Backup Center and Amare is the best one available in the Free Agency.

I also consider trading away Courtney Lee, mainly because of his big contract, in which he makes 55,67 Mill in 5 years. I think 11 mill. a season is a bit too much for him, and for that money I could get someone better, or I could get a similar player for less money. For example, J.R. smith, who is rated 77 and is the same age as Lee, is asking 5,22 mill. a season.

So, regarding the Courtney Lee situation, I have received several interesting trade offers.

In the first one, The Grizzlies offer me Tony Allen in exchane for Courtney Lee and 2017 Rockets 2nd round draft pick.
I like this trade because it is a decent salary dump. Tony Allen makes 5,17 mill. a year for next 2 years, while Courtney Lee makes 5,68 mill. a year for this year but during the next 4 years he will recieve 11-12 mill. dollars a year. So in long term, getting Tony Allen seems a better move financially. Also, I'm not afraid giving away that 2nd round draft pick, because you rarely can get decent players in 2nd round.

The 2nd interesting offer comes from Golden State Warriors.

They offer me Ian Clark and Zaza Pachulia for Courtney Lee and Sasha Vujacic.

What I Like about this trade is, that I can get a solid backup center in Zaza Pachulia, who's contract is 2 mill. cheaper than Amare's asking in the Free agency. I am also getting a younger shooting guard, because Ian clark is 7 years younger than Vujacic. I Have no problem giving away Courtney Lee, because I could easily Replace him With J.R. Smith in the FA for far less money.

So, basically, If I agree to Memphis's deal, I go after Amare in FA, if i agree to the Warrior's deal, I go after J.R. Smith.
Either way, a former Knick is coming back to NYC! :D

So, which offer do i accept?

For me, I'd stick with Lee for a while. Let him prove himself worthy of the contract. If he isn't trade him before the All-Star Weekend from a team that offers a pick and a solid backup. If you are looking to trade right now, go with the Warriors. The trade with the Grizzlies seems like a bad trade since you're basically sending him back to his team a season ago.

Maybe You're right. I'll hold on to Lee and just sign Amare instead to be my backup C.
One thing for sure-Lee is not playing for the Knicks next season :D

I'll trade Amundson for some scrubs instead of just releasing him. That way I'll atleast get somthing out of him.

The Former Knick and All-Star Stoudamire Returns To Madison square garden.

Image

The New York Knicks have done amazing things in this summer's free agency, turning their team from outsiders of the league to serious playoff contenders. The additions of such players as Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and Courtney Lee show a brighter future to the struggling franchise. However, the Knicks have made another addition- The former Knick and multiple time All-star Amare Stoudamire has joined the team he once represented. The deal is short term. Amare has signed for a one year deal worth 5,65 million dollars. It is expected, that he will fill the backup center spot, thus moving Kevin Seraphin further in the roster.

Amare on signing with the knicks: When my agent informed me, that the Knicks are showing interest in me, I was super excited. I Told him to do everything possible, to get me back in to this organization. When i heard that all i have to do is sign the contract, and i'll be a Knick again, I was extatic. I mean, I'm getting older, im not as good as I used to be. In the last few seasons I was just a shadow of my former self. The thought of me playing in the NBA again seemed more absurd as the time went on.Mentally i was already prepared to go to Europe, or China. Wherever they would pay the most money. This new opportunity has given me a second breath of my career. Man, this is amazing! Playing in arguably the biggest NBA franchisein front of all of these fans, and reuniting with Carmelo is unbelievable. As i said before, Iam not the player I once was. I have embraced my new capabilities and i feel comfortable with my position in the team. Besides I can help with my advice to the big men-Porzingis and O'Quinn.Don't expect all star performances and double doubles from me every night, but I can guarantee, that I'll put my heart and soul in the field. Hey, Joakim, I hope you''re prepared to be on your best every night, because I will be working my butt off every time I step on the field. As soon as you mess up, I'LL be right there, ready to claim your spot!

Oh, and also the Knicks traded away amundson, but whatever, look, it's Amare! YAY!

Well, just had an exibition game on all star difficulty. I played as Knicks and my opponent was the 76ers. Got blown out 121-79. Their offensive rebounding and 3pt shooting was insane! they were shooting 18/27 from 3pt! and outrebounded me by 21!
I think i might have overrated my abilities :D Do you think I should lower my difficulty to pro?

Knicks get humiliated on boards, manage a late comeback, but get beat by Bucks.

Finally, the NBA season has officially begun for the Knicks. The opening game was contested at Milwaukee against the local Bucks. Unfortunately, the Knicks suffered a loss, losing 105 to 118.
In the opening quarter the Knicks were unable to stop the Bucks hot shooting. Everything was falling in, the 3´s, midrange shots, the Bucks even got lucky with some lucky bounces. Shots were even falling in when 3 knicks were blocking one Buck.

A major reason the knicks lost the first quarter was the center Joakim Noah. He was unable to establish an inside presence. As soon as he got in the paint, Japari parker or John Henson were there to steal the ball, and Greg Monroe and Michael Carter Williams (!!!) were convincingly collecting offensive rebounds. Thankfully the shots were not falling for monroe, otherwise the Knicks defficit would be even greater.

In the second quarter the knicks chose to play physical defence and were double teaming the perimeter guys. Initially they had success with this tactic, coming to only a 4 point defficit. In the latter half of the quarter the tactic backfired, as the Bucks Forward Jabari parker came through, because he was often left alone in the paint. In the 2nd quarter his shooting was 8/10. To make things worse, the Knicks started relying on the 3pt shot, which was not falling. The Knicks were losing by 19 at the half.

In the third quarter knicks decided to pay closer attention to the bigger men of the Bucks. The knicks Backup center Stoudamire got a lot of playing time this quarter. The plan was to commit hard fouls and not let them get easy baskets. The main victim of this was John henson, who went 2/6 from the charity stripe. Although the big men were dealth with, the greek freek came through, going 3/3 from 3 and making some sick dunks. The knicks were able to find their shot, as Melo went 3/3 from 3pt too, and porzingis was connecting from the midrange.

In the 4th quarter the momentum went to the Knicks. Largely thanks to Amare Stoudamire. He was handling the ball much better than Noah, and was able to make baskets from the paint and midrange. Along with Kyle O'Quinn the knicks were able to establish an inside presence. Porzingis and Noah came through as well by adding 2 blocks each. The knicks were comfortable passing the ball too, and the Bucks were making turnover after turnover. Tin the final 4 minutes of the game the Knicks were able to make a 17-5 run, but were not able to achiev a comeback, as the damage had already been done.

I'm sorry there are no shots of the gameplay. I thought that there would be some kind of a replay compilation at the end of the game. I guess i will have to pay attention to the replays now :D I'll be sure to include some gameplay shots next game though.

I'm starting to consider trading away Joakim Noah, because he does not seem comfortable handling the ball inside the paint. Also his midrange shooting is pretty bad. I'll let him prove me wrong in next 2-3 games, after that I might trade him away.

What do you think about trading Joakim Noah to the Cavs for Tristan thompson? His inside and mid range shooting stats are way better, with everything else being quite equal.

I'm really sorry if I'm coming off as an asshat here criticizing your trade ideas but I think trading Noah that fast is ridiculous. I get the I'm-itching-to-trade-my-players phase specially when starting a new association/dynasty but you shouldn't just jump ship that fast. Give Noah a year. If he's no good, don't re-sign him or trade him in the offseason.

Yeah, I Went ahead with that Tristan Thompson-Joakim Noah trade, and I do'nt regret it. He handles the ball a lot better, and it is easier to make mid-range shots with him. Also, he is able to make a basket with 3 guys in his face. The only downside is that he isn't keen on rebounding, but i don't mind that, as I have KP and Melo, who can rebound in the double digits.

I'm really starting to like courtney Lee. The guy can do it all! He can pass, dunk, make a 3, and has nice ball handling. I Think I might not get rid of him after all. Thanks for convincing me to keep him, Kevin!

Re: The New York Knicks Association. (First home game vs Atlanta Hawks.)

Postby davisxp on Sun Aug 21, 2016 8:37 pm

Knicks are victorious in a closely contested game.

The knicks were looking to rebound from the first game of the season, which saw them get defeated by the hosts- Bucks.
This time they played at their home turf-The Madison Square Garden. The game against the visitors- The Atlanta Hawks was a hard one to win, but ultimately, the Knicks were succesful.

The first quarter was dominated by the Hawks. They came out prepared, and were not intimidated by the massive home support. They began the game with extremely high shooting percentage. The Hawks' sharpshooter Kyle Korver was a standout in the first quarter. He was shooting 5/7 and 3/3 from 3-pt line. The Hawk's power forward Paul Milsap was able to get his game going as well, as he was having uncontested shots and open dunks, and even made a three. He went 5-5 from the field. He and corver scored 24 out of 28 Hawks points in the 1st. The reason Paul Milsap played so good, was, that the Knicks forwards were busy guarding Dwight Howard. They were somewhat succesful, as Howard went 2/7 from field and 1/6 from ft line. Knicks shooting was not bad either, but it got overshadowed by poor ballhandling, as the knicks commited many turnovers. Impressive defensive feats, such as Porzingis's 4 blocks got overshadowed by the unnecessary turnovers.

In the 2nd quarter the Knicks decided to spread the floor and play physical defense. KP was good at not allowing Paul Milsap not get inside the paint and get easy shots, while Tristan thompson Kept Thiago Splitter in check, as Dwight Howard was not playing the entire quarter. Dennis Schroeder was barely noticeable, but their backup Jarret Jack had a hot hand. Thanks to him, their defficit was not even greater. Meanwhile Courtney lee and Brandon Jennings were playing phisical defense Against Korver and other 3-pt shooters. The hawks went 1/11 from 3-pt line from 2nd to 4th quarter, with their only three coming with 1,8 seconds left in the game. The knicks were forcing the Hawk's big men take mid-range shots.

In the third quarter Derrick Rose did a good job smothering the opposition's point guards and Schroeder along with Jack commiter several shot clock violations.
It did not help much, because the knicks, especially KP, were keen on shooting threes to extend their lead but the shots were not falling. Thankfully this happened to the Hawks as well. Tristan Thompson got in Foul Trouble in this quarter, and exited it with four fouls.

In the final quarter the Knicks were forced to play carefully, their Starting center Thompson was in trouble. The Hawhs were aware of this and were feeding the ball to Dwight Howard. He had reasonable shooting, going 6/9 in the quarter. He was extremely careful about not getting fouled too.
The knicks meanwhile were feeding the ball to their guards- Rose and Lee. They were taking lots of midrange shots, with majority of them falling in the basket. Courtney lee was not afraid of getting inside the paint and dunking too. The knicks ended up winning the game by 3.
