BRYANT-JORDAN RIVALRY ENDS IN OT

Image

Montreal Ravens [5-1] @ Chicago Bulls [2-4] 115-116

Nov. 9, Chicago – Michael Jordan, considered by the whole world as the greatest NBA player of all time, scored a season-high 40 points against the 21 year old Kobe Bryant who also had a great night shooting the basketball as he dropped 30 against Jordan, a feat not many can do against the greatest player to ever walk the planet.

The Ravens ended the 1st half with a 1-point lead and ended the 2nd half with a 1-point deficit no thanks to Michael Jordan’s floater with 27.2s remaining over the stretched arms of Chuck Person and Kobe Bryant. Chicago got the lead to 3 points with 8.6s remaining and Montreal saw a way to tie the game and send it to double overtime.

Coming out of the timeout, Wallace inbounded the ball to Bryant and Garnett prepared a screen for him. Bryant let it fly at the buzzer and it went in. Much to their dismay, his foot was on the line and the referees counted it as a two-pointer instead of a 3 which should’ve sent the game to 2OT.

“Well you can’t do anything about it, man. I was just out of place and my focus at that time was just to shoot the ball before the buzzer. The loss is all on me.” remarked Bryant on his last shot.

Player of the Game: Michael Jordan (40 pts, 5 rebs, 5 asts, 2 stls)

Ravens:
K. Bryant (30 pts, 4 rebs, 8 asts, 4 stls, 2 blks)
K. Garnett (24 pts, 10 rebs, 2 blks)
C. Person (17 pts, 4 rebs, 3 asts, 4 stls)

Bulls:
G. Stiemsma (29 pts, 11 rebs, 4 stls)
S. Pippen (17 pts, 4 rebs, 9 asts, 4 stls, 3 blks)
G. Robinson (8 pts, 2 blks)

Weird to see MJ's Bulls being sub .500, especially coming off a championship run.

Always tough to lose those OT games, but yeah, nothing you can do about it (Y)

RAPTORS UPSET RAVES IN 4TH QUARTER RUN

Image

Montreal Ravens [10-2] vs [8-4] 113-126

Nov. 20, Montreal – Both Toronto and Montreal were on a 5-game win streak and it was only a matter of time before somebody has to lose and end their streak and for the most part of the game, it seemed like the Ravens were the clear winner in this Canadian matchup.

Toronto was down by 15 points in the 4th quarter but a barrage of threes from Nick Van Exel and Peja Stojakovic started a 21-0 run by the Raptors. No matter what they do, the Ravens just couldn’t answer back and saw their lead get cut down to pieces until they were the ones down by 13 at the end of the game.

Stojakovic had 12 points in 4-4 shooting from downtown and Van Exel was 6-9 from downtown as well. Barkley led the Raptors in scoring with 27 points and 12 rebounds.

“Shots were just falling for us. They couldn’t catch up with us at the end of the game since they were very tired.” Said Stojakovic.

Bryant had 28 points but shot 1 for 8 beyond the arc tonight while Ben Wallace had a career-high 23 points and 10 rebounds while only missing 1 of his 12 shots.

Player of the Game: Charles Barkley (27 pts, 12 rebs, 3 stls)

Ravens:
K. Bryant (28 pts, 4 rebs, 3 asts, 2 stls)
K. Garnett (25 pts, 4 rebs, 3 blks)
B. Wallace (23 pts, 10 rebs, 4 asts)

Raptors:
C. Smith (21 pts, 5 rebs, 9 asts)
M. Harpring (20 pts, 5 rebs, 1 stl)
D. Stoudamire (17 pts, 2 rebs, 5 asts)

Chauncey Billups, the Ravens’ starting point guard, will be out for 2 weeks following a strain in his heel and is diagnosed with plantar fasciitis. He will be replaced by swingman Anthony Parker in the lineup.

In other news, Corliss Williamson has now been cleared to play for Montreal and will start in their game against Milwaukee next month.

If the Grizzlies were this good when they played in Vancouver, maybe they'd still be there. :| Oh well, at least they're loved in Memphis I guess.

Tough loss to the Raps but your team is stacked. You can really give the Bulls a run for their money this year... if they even make the playoffs that is.

Montreal’s Chauncey Billups out for 4-6 months for torn hamstring

The Ravens just couldn’t get a break. Starting point guard Chauncey Billups is sidelined for 4 to 6 months following a torn right hamstring. Without him in the lineup, there is no one capable of playing as a point guard except B.J. Armstrong who is recovering from an injury himself. Montreal has been reportedly been linked to the Chicago Bulls for a trade that might happen at the end of the month.

Williamson suffered the same but not as painful experience as Chauncey Billups. Williamson will be out for a whole month at least after tearing his hamstring in his last game versus the Celtics. Williamson will be replaced by sharpshooter Burton in the lineup.

Bulls and Ravens trade for missing pieces of the puzzle

With Chauncey Billups out for at least 3 months, the Ravens are forced to make a move so as not to lose positioning in the playoffs seeding.

Tim Hardaway, a veteran guard who was named the Finals MVP for the Bulls, will be shipped to Montreal in exchange for promising center Raef LaFrentz and a reunion for B.J. Armstrong. Aside from sending those two players for Hardaway, the Ravens also sent their pick for next year’s draft.

Trade breakdown:

MON gets:
T. Hardaway (72 OVR)

CHI gets:

HILL SCORES SEASON-HIGH 52 POINTS IN OVERTIME WIN

Image

Montreal Ravens @ Detroit Pistons 92-95

Feb. 1, Detroit – It seemed like nothing can stop the 27-year old Grant Hill from scoring tonight as he eased his way to a career-tying 52 points while shooting above 60%. When asked about his performance, he just shrugged and said it was all luck. “It just felt like the basket was getting bigger and bigger for me and I just felt like throwing it there.” Aside from Hill, Kevin Garnett also had a solid performance. He had 27 points while grabbing a season-high 16 rebounds.

Recently acquired guard Tim Hardaway also posted good numbers with a 22-11 (pts-asts) stat line.

Player of the Game: Grant Hill (52 pts, 13 rebs, 6 asts, 3 stls)

Ravens:
K. Garnett (27 pts, 16 rebs, 3 blks)
T. Hardaway (22 pts, 3 rebs, 11 asts)

Pistons:
A. McKie (15 pts, 4 rebs, 6 asts)

Ravens sign defense specialist Randy Brown

After 2 weeks of Hardaway being the only capable ball handler, the Ravens are now trying to lift some of the guard duties from him. Aside from the injured Billups, only Hardaway was the point guard of the team and signing a player like Randy Brown should maybe take off some weight from Hardaway’s shoulders.

Brown signed a 1-year deal worth exactly $1M.

HARDAWAY SCORES CAREER-HIGH 31 IN LOSS

Image

Montreal Ravens vs Cleveland Cavaliers 103-98

Feb. 18, Montreal – 2 weeks after Montreal acquired Hardaway from the Bulls that sent rookie Rae LaFrentz to Chicago, Tim has bumped up his stats. From averaging 9.9 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 3.2 apg, and 0.8 spg, when he was playing with the Bulls, he has now almost doubled it up and is currently averaging 16.5 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 6.6 apg, and 1.1 spg. Tonight, he scored a career-high 31 in the loss. It felt like he was the only one contributing to the Ravens’ offense tonight as both Garnett and Bryant went cold shooting the ball.
In the Cavaliers’ side, we see 7 players scoring above 12 thanks to their unselfish style of basketball. Kevin Willis was their highest scorer with 20 points and 13 rebounds.

Player of the Game: Kevin Willis (20 pts, 13 rebs, 1 blk)

Ravens:
T. Hardaway (31 pts, 4 rebs, 4 asts, 4-5 3PT)
K. Garnett (17 pts, 7 rebs, 5-14 FG)
K. Bryant (17 pts, 2 rebs, 4 asts, 2 stls, 8-21 FG)

Cavaliers:
A. Phills (16 pts, 4 stls)
M. Bibby (13 pts, 4 rebs, 6 asts, 2 stls)
A. Declercq (12 pts, 8 rebs)

Fortson granted much-awaited wish

Image

After making fun of the organization that took him in as a rookie, Fortson has now been reportedly traded to the Toronto Raptors for veteran Michael Smith and 2-year pro Peja Stojakovic. Fortson has been very open in his decision to leave Montreal ever since they drafted him, refusing to participate in practice and such. With this trade, the Ravens clear cap space and take out trash.

Trade breakdown:

MON gets:
M. Smith (68 OVR)
P. Stojakovic (62 OVR)

TOR gets:
D. Fortson (71 OVR)

Yeah it felt weird that his ratings were shitty compared to my others players on the team. Maybe I'll just have to keep on training him then since his potential his very high.

WIZARDS’ COMEBACK EFFORT NOT ENOUGH TO DEFEAT RAVENS

Image

Montreal Ravens vs Washington Wizards 81-77

Mar. 1, Montreal – Following 2 straight losses from last month, the Ravens look to switch things up this month by playing harder for the ball. Bryant led the Ravens with 24 points in 9 of 16 shooting from the field.

Washington threatened to take the lead from Montreal with just 1 minute left in the game. They came back from 12 points in the 4th quarter when Bryant left the game with a dislocated finger. Marciulionis scored 12 points in a span of 1 minute for the Wizards with only 4 minutes remaining in the game. Eventually, their offense broke down in the final minutes and the Ravens capitalized on their mistakes and turnovers leading to the Ravens’ first win in 2 weeks.

NOTES:
Bryant is reported to be out for 2 weeks after dislocating his finger.

Player of the Game: Kevin Garnett (17 pts, 9 rebs, 3 asts, 2 blks)

Ravens:
K. Bryant (24 pts, 2 asts, 2 stls)

Kobe out for 2 weeks

The Ravens suffered another blow as they lose another starting guard in Kobe Bryant. Bryant has been the leader of this team inside and out ever since he entered the league as a rookie for the Ravens. He is expected to return when the Chicago Bulls are going to be in town, in March 19.

WILLIAMSON CARRIES DEPLETED RAVENS TO WIN VERSUS BULLS

Image

Montreal Ravens vs Chicago Bulls 99-97

Mar. 19, Montreal - The much anticipated return of Kobe Bryant didn't happen tonight but instead the Ravens got last year's Most Improved Player to play like one. Corliss Williamson scored a season-high 22 points and went perfect in the field with 7 of his 7 shots falling in. Tim Hardaway also had 22 points tonight against his former team and went perfect from beyond the arc with a 4-4 clip.

"Our shots were just falling. It was our night. Other guys stepped up and contributed to a must-win game. It's really a big wave of confidence knowing that we can match up with them without Kobe and MJ."

Pippen was the main scorer for the Bulls. He ended with 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists but his teammates were nowhere to be seen. Aside from him, there was no other Bulls player that scored 20 points nor someone recorded a field goal percentage above 60%.

The game was decided by a split-second decision of Tim Hardaway to pass up an open three. After faking a three-pointer in the corner, he lobbed it up to Michael Smith who dunked it all the way with only 2.1s remaining. Chicago failed to put up a shot in the remaining seconds of the game and ended with a loss to the Ravens.

NOTES:
Michael Jordan is out with sore knee and was listed day-to-day..... Kobe Bryant is listed day-to-day with a dislocated finger....

Player of the Game: Corliss Williamson (22 pts, 5 rebs, 2 asts,1 stl, 7-7 FG)
