Chapter 9

“No way mate! Put some more in that contract.” Nathan Jawai said.

“How much do you prefer? 700,000 dollars is enough for you right now.” Rick Kamla said.

“Offer me much higher than that, you know I put up great numbers if I get my minutes.” Jawai said. “Maybe around 2.5 million and we will have a deal.”

Rick Kamla smiled then he shakes hands with Jawai. “I’ll think about it Nathan but I assure you I will make the correct decision.”

After that Nathan leaves Rick's office. Then someone knocks in the door.

“Sir I’m just here to remind you about your activities today.” Kamla’s secretary said.

“Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me. I totally forgot that today is the draft lottery.” Kamla said.

Rick quickly fixed his things and went to New York hoping that something good might happen in the lottery.

Now were down to two teams, who will get the first pick of this year’s NBA Draft. The Milwaukee Bucks who have the worst record or the Minnesota Timberwolves who have the second worst record. Here is Commissioner David Stern to announce the results.

“This year’s winner of the NBA Draft Lottery is the Minnesota Timberwolves.”

Kamla jumps with a punched through the air when he heard the results. “Oh yeah, this year will be our year.” Kamla said.

Draft Day….

Commissioner David Stern was about to announce the first pick.

“The first pick of the 2010 NBA draft the Minnesota Timberwolves select John Wall from Kentucky.”

Everybody was clapping, everyone expects that John Wall is the first pick.

“I like this kid. He got the skills, the size and the athleticism. He really deserves the first pick but the Wolves have to choose if reigning Rookie of the Year Jonny Flynn will still run the team or they will let Wall takeover.” Charles Barkley said.

There were a lot of surprises in the draft. Projected second pick Evan Turner fell to the 20TH and projected third pick Carl Cruz landed in New York and the fans were booing. The supposed to be fourth pick Martti Must drafted 54TH by the Hornets.

There were also funny moments in the draft like William Sit who gets drafted by the LA Lakers jumps out of his table after hearing his favorite team drafted him.

Also there are some cocky rookies like the 5th pick of the Memphis Liam Washburn who proclaimed that he will start as the starting point guard. Thierry Tirieux of Charlotte said that he will make the Bobcats a contender.

After the draft is finished Rick Kamla received a phone call.

“Oh hello Julian, why did you call?” Kamla said.

“I’m just here to say about Raymond, your agents said that they didn’t find him.” Julian said. “I’m just worried Sir, I don’t want the team to suffer because of our problem.”

“Don’t worry Julian, there’s nothing to worry about. I’m sure that David already told your brother to stay quiet for a while.” Rick said.

“Okay Sir, thanks for your time.” Julian said.

After the two ended their conversation Rick received another call.

“Who is this?” Rick asked.

“Hello Rick. David Kahn here, you know the next GM of your team.” David said.

“Why the fuck you call me? I don’t have time for you.” Rick said.

“Hey chill man, I just want to congratulate you for getting John Wall.” David said. “And I want you to know that the deal we made about not trading Flynn, Jawai and Brewer is cancelled. You can do whatever you want to the team before I takeover.”

“What the fuck are you talking about? You will never take over the team.” Rick said. But Rick Kamla didn’t hear any reply from David. David hangs up the phone.

Just when Rick was about to turn off his phone he received another call.

“Fuck, another one.” Rick said. “Hello who is this?”

“Hello Senior Rick.” The man said.

Just upon hearing the man talked this puts a smile on Rick’s face. The two talk for a while then Rick ended the call.

“You know what, you’re the best call I received this day.” Rick said. “See you in a couple of days.”
