Outside of the animation loss of control that you want to break your controller moments, I'm pretty satisfied with the sliders and settings (nogster's) I've applied to make it enjoyable for me.
Besides, I sim most of the games and only play about a max of 10 games per season (that includes the Rookie/All-Star games if I have players in them) since I play with 12 mins. quarters. I have my own system of choosing which games to play instead of simming and I almost always prefer playing on the road so that cuts in half the preferred games I play in a season. Even during playoffs I go with a play-sim-play-etc....for each series.
Still planning to get 2K11 once the patch comes out because it's omg! Sports game of the year! Yeah! 9.5 from IGN! Incredible!
Go directly to bottom of this post for following summary.Anyway, continued from
this...2nd season.
Starting five now consists of Paul-Redick-Durant-Green-Shaq.
Bench are Ibaka, Wallace, Bell, Wright, Quinn, Anthony, Krstic, Collison. I didn't sign or dropped the rooks. No rooks in the team.
Might have to get another guard by trading Collison. Still figuring out if Shaq is better off the bench than a starter.
Final roster was Paul/C.Lee/Durant/Green/Shaq, with bench of Ibaka/Gortat/R.Bell/Krstic/J.Williams/M.Taylor/J.Wright/Weaver/N.Collison/the greatness that is Joel Anthony.
Made Shaq a starter because I noticed that we lost most of the games when he's off the starting five.
Had to trade Redick because he sucks on D, even though he was deadly with the three. I gave him away plus a first and 2nd round pick for Courtney Lee.
I previously had Shaun Livingston who was doing well in Paul's absence. He was even a candidate for MIP but I traded him because he was really intent on being a FA and I'm not ready to break the bank for him. Orlando wanted him bad because of Nelson also wanting to test the free agency and his usual injury spree. so I gave away Livingston and Ben Wallace in exchange for their offer of Gortat and their 1st round pick. Had to part with Big Ben because of the similar contributions I could get from Gortat.
Dropped Quinn (because he sucks) and got Mike Taylor from the FA pool.
Paul got injured and missed the ASG. Durant went nuts in the game as he ended up being the ASG MVP with 45 pts. Defeated the East with about a 20pt. margin. Any shot I threw with Durant went in, doesn't matter if he's hounded by LeBron or Gerald Wallace.
Finished with the best record of 58-24. Magic led the East with 56 wins. Durant was MVP with him being also in the Defensive 2nd team. Notable was Caron Butler who finished as the NBA scoring leader (31 ppg), Durant was second with 30.
Defeated a Carmelo-less Nuggets in the 1st round because of injury. Advanced past the Jazz in 6 games in the second. Went the distance to 7 against the Lakers in the WCF to advance to the Finals.
The East was a shocker. 1st seed Magic got eliminated by the 8th seed Hawks in 7. Turns out that Marvin Williams became into a Josh Smith type of player with 3-point range

. He averaged double-doubles in pts.-rebs. during their run. The Hawks also dispatched the cHeat in 6 games in the second round but they were swept by the Celtics in the ECF

. The Celtics didn't even have Ray Allen, he was traded to the Heat for Mike Miller. So it was that surprising for the Hawks run only to be swept by the Celts.
Finals went the distance of 7 games with the home team winning each of them. Shaq was the difference maker. He helped in the first game blowout win with his 20-11, Thunder defeating the donut Celtics with a 50+ margin because of foul trouble to their frontline, also doesn't help when Nate was chucking away shots. Rondo was getting triple-doubles that kept the Celtics in the series.
Game 7 was fun and hard to play, with my players easily getting tired after only 6 minutes on the court as a result of the Celtics D and progressive fatigue of the series, good thing I had a dependable bench. Game was really close for 3 quarters. They were now containing Shaq. Nate was sinking his crazy shots even with Lee on him and their rookie PG was also hot. Rondo was in foul trouble so was Chris Paul and Jeff Green. KG was keeping them up as Pierce was contained by Durant and Bell. Durant was cold but at least Green was getting it done despite KG hounding him.
Shaq finally broke the game open in 4th with his inside offense and defense. He led the Thunder to 10 point lead by the middle of the quarter, I had to sit him down in the 5 minute mark as he was already exhausted (less than 50 stamina left) even at the 8 min. mark yet I was surprised that he was still able to grab the boards and blocks to lead the Thunder run before that. Durant finally got his shooting touch back to maintain the lead and win game 7. Shaq had 16 pts. 13 rebs. and 3 blks. in game 7 to be the Jordan PotG. He decided to retire after this season, and we got to send him off with a ring

[/joy]
Durant was finals MVP. Good season for Durant as he finished ASG, regular season, and finals MVP. Only players to have done so were Unseld, Jordan, and Shaq.
What made this playoff run fun was that I only played 3 games during the playoffs, the rest were simmed. I only played to hopefully break a 2-2 tie against Utah in the 2nd round, the first and game 7 of the Finals. Wanted to play game 7 of the WCF against the Lakers but still decided to sim it. Means that I assembled a good enough team to win it all the way.
Off season was a bitch for losing Jeff Green who decided to follow the money trail to Dallas and join Kidd, Butler, and Nowitzki. I offered him a decent contract that he liked (full bar) but not max money. I didn't want to give him max money because he's a tweener as it is on my team. He's good on offense but I already have Durant and Paul for that, he's decent on defense but not good enough to guard against the big PFs.
Made me wait until near the last day of the FA signing period which made me lose out on Marc Gasol. He was my backup plan in case I lost Jeff Green. Gasol accepted my offer but I turned it down because I was still waiting for Green because his profile says 'Extremely Loyal'. Granted that a brain fart played on my part, forgot that I have Bird rights to Green and can still sign Gasol even if Green hadn't accepted yet, but Gasol was only an option at best. Extremely loyal my ass. Got Jonas Jerebko instead with a 6 year contract that's front loaded so it's good, at least.
In a notable offseason happening, Carmelo joined the Jazz. Their lineup is the same outside of the bench in my association, now add Melo to that.
Lineup coming into the third season - Paul, Courtney Lee, Durant, Jerebko, and Ibaka as my starters with Gortat, Patty Mills, Raja Bell, Afflalo, Tiny Gallon, Andre Miller, Kyle Weaver, Joel Anthony, and Nick Collison for the bench. I extended Chris Paul's contract for the max, so some of those front loaded contracts I have are really going to help when Paul and Durant's money starts to kick in my team salary cap. Still under the cap btw, with about 500K left.
tl;dr -
I'm enjoying my association as I go for the two-peat with OKC in my 3rd season.
