Raja Bell Injured during Intense Practice, Also Trade for a Kiwi

New Coach Raoul Duke has been working the Show hard since they opened the season with two losses. That tactic had seemed to payoff though as they scratched back to .500 against the Bobcats and Heat. Almost every other day off, theres a practice working on Defense and shooting. The players had upped their performance and it showed in the 2 wins. However today at practice at that work came with a price

Starting SG Raja Bell (one of the best perimeter defenders in the game) strained his groin while trying to keep up with captain Deron Williams in a shadow drill. The trainers after testing determined he'll be able to play through it but will be affected for 2-4 weeks.

Coach Duke replied after practice "Well we'll just cut his minutes some and get Hayward and Miles some minutes I guess. Not too huge a deal but since we're already slightly weak at that position we better hope we don't play anyone with a great SG anytime before he recovers."

In other news out of the Show facility today, Dr Gonzo announced that the Show have agreed to a trade with the Blazers. The Show are sending Kyrylo Fesenko (4 year contract/2.19 Million) to Portland and in return receiving New Zealand native (and NLSC favorite) Sean Marks (1 year, 455k).

"We think Sean will be a great fit as a reserve for us. And we love his accent. Thats pretty much all there is to it. We don't really plan to use Sean unless someone gets hurt but he's a good guy we want around."

It didn't surpised me, because there is an easy way to defeat Heat: Defend Wade and LeBron!

Not really. I didnt really shut down anyone. They scored at will on me. Dwade just took to the distributor role. NO ONE could defend lebron. Take away the lucky block? I lose that game by 1. Shit was crazy.

Ballout: New Vegas (3-2 Show Squeak By)

Postby Oznogrd on Sun Feb 20, 2011 10:07 am

(Disclaimer: 4th quarter glitch happened again, i scored something along the lines of 20 and they scored 23 in the fourth but i cant remember what the final score ended up being. I remember it being low scoring, and close enough they started fouling but i played about a week ago and didnt get around to recapping it till tonight)

Show Win Defensive Battle as Yao and Brooks go down

Las Vegas 59 - Houston 54

(final score was actually 79-75 or something like that)

The few Rockets fans in attendance at Silver State Arena were visibly upset when Aaron Brooks went down on a hard foul from Deron Williams. And deservedly so, Aaron Brooks couldn't get back up without assistance from the training staff. As he hopped to the bench, it was obvious something had happened to his leg. Deron simply shrugged and switched his focus to Kyle Lowry who came in.

Despite Brooks going down, the Rockets hung with the Show for the 1st half due in large part (pun intended) to a finally health Yao Ming. With 3 blocks and 7 rebounds, and 7-9 shooting: Yao was leading the Rockets charge. Unfortunately in the first minute of the third quarter, Earl Watson was going for an open slashing lane and ended up hitting Yao hard with his shoulder. The Asian sensation went down hard and held his stomach as he made it over to the bench to be looked at by the training staff. He also wouldnt return.

After Yao left, the Show began successfully attacking with their big men. Brad Miller and Luis Scola just couldn't defend the constant posts and dunks being thrown at them. The Show jumped out to a 5 point lead in the third and just never let it go despite a valiant effort in the fourth when the show went through a cold streak.

"This game was all about the defense" said Coach Raoul Duke "and defense wins you more alcohol!!! Wait...did i say alcohol? I meant championships. Sorry about that." Behind his aviator sunglasses his eyes were darting wildly around the room. "Now which one of you pig-fuckers is holding?" Commissioner Stern again find Coach Duke for his actions implying drug use and swearing at the press.

"I never want anybody to get hurt and I'm sorry he did but that's part of the game and you gotta adjust" said captain Deron Williams about his foul on Aaron Brooks. "I always looked up to the bad boys in Detroit though. Tough physical basketball. Its too bad that's fallen out of style lately" Williams has taken alot of heat lately for supposedly forcing out Coach Sloan and seems to embracing a new public persona as a villain, much like Lebron after "The Decision"

It was reported after the game that Aaron Brooks had suffered a strained achilles and would be limited for a month while Yao strained his abdomen and would be out the same amount of time.

So Deron is joining forces with LeBron as a villain? (N) Sucks to see Yao and Brooks go down, but now it's the ultimate chance for Kevin Martin to drop 30 a game on everyone.

Despite 5 players in double Digits, Magic still fall in Vegas

Las Vegas 96 - Orlando 88

The Show came out and lived up to their name at Silver State Arena tonight. The Orlando Magic fell on the wrong side of a 16-4 run to start the game that they could never totally recover from. Despite a strong 3rd quarter, the Magic ended up not having enough gas in the tank to overcome the Show's oddly potent offense tonight.

"We just came out and went at them. We had a great gameplan and we shot about 75% in the first half. Its hard to lose when you're shooting like that" said Show Captain Deron Williams. "The over-rated chant had started before the end of the first quarter. Thats never good when you're the other team" he added with a smirk.

Despite trade rumors swirling about Mehmet Okur (a trade to the pistons, nuggets, and Rockets are all being reported as on the table), he added "Our plan was to make mismatches with everyone but Dwight. They let us do it and we capitalized. Nothing more to it than that."

Magic Coach Stan Van Gundy went on a swear laden tirade, calling the Show dirty and cheap. We'd put a direct quote but it would read [expletive deleted] for most of it. This kind of behavior is common and nobody was really surprised. Coach Duke could not be reached for comment.

Despite late Rally, Show lose by 3 in Portland

Las Vegas 90 - Portland 93

This game started out like the Orlando game. The Show went on a huge 16-4 run again and it looked like they were going to run the Blazers right off their own floor.

Too bad the Blazers started deciding to play D.

The Las Vegas team outscored Portalnd 29-23 in the first quarter. But for the next 3 quarters, the Blazers went into a high pressure defense, cutting off passing lanes and contesting all shots (resulting in 14 blocks on the game. Eventually, late in the fourth they caught up and even pulled ahead.

"We went cold and didnt hit anything for a long while" said the team's leading scorer Al Jefferson. "You just can't do that against a playoff team in the NBA. They will catch you, even if it takes the whole game." Despite starting out strong, Jefferson only shot 13-24: a far cry from his usual percentage that had him as the most efficient player in the NBA currently.

Like a true leader though, captain Deron Williams took the team on his back late. He blew by Brandon Roy (commenting after that game that he broke his knees rather than his ankles) for easy layups, he kept making contested 3s (making 4 in the last 2 minutes, singlehandedly keeping the Show in the game). With 3.9 seconds and no timeouts left, the Show were down and everyone knew whose hands the ball was going to end up. With Brandon Roy and Andre Miller, double teaming, Williams couldnt get a last shot off as time ticked away and the Blazers held on for the win.

"It sucks to lose like that. I dont take full responsibility. Those guys were fouling the crap out of me. The refs were just making sure homecourt advantage held true. If i had gotten it off, it would've gone in. I know it, the refs know it, and Brandon and Andre know it. I'll shake their hands. Im not Lebron. But it doesn't mean I'm happy about it." said Williams in his post game interview

"We just have to learn to keep a steady pace. Its much like having a drug fueled week rather than a weekend. If you do all your drugs at the beginning of the week, when you sober up, you're done. You have to space it out to keep the high alive. Theres nothing like a drug frenzy." Coach Raoul Duke commented slyly. "Now, who's holding?"

Big Time Trade Happens with the Pistons

The Las Vegas Show have had Mehmet Okur and Andrei Kirilenko up on the trade block for a while now and mulled over several offers. In a sign of increasing senility, Joe Dumars offered up Tayshaun Prince and Dr Gonzo hesitated.

"We still had Andrei, did we really need two SF's making that much money?" Gonzo told us recapping his unusual act of using thought in his team management.
"But then i thought...What if man...what if..."

Gonzo counteroffered by adding andrei Kirilenko and asking for Tayshaun prince and Greg Monroe. Joe Dumars took the deal.

"Dont ask me why he took a deal for two aging past their prime guys. It may have hurt us a little in cap room, both have kinda big contracts: but it was an upgrade and we always take the upgrade."

When asked if he has any future plans for more trades Gonzo simply smirked and said "Maybe we do, maybe we don't. All I can say for sure is if there's a good deal out there: we'll take it."
