With just 1:59 left to play the Boston Celtics were trailing the Washington Wizards 79-78. It didn't look like they were going to win, but they somehow slotted a few extra points and had a big six point lead. With Josh Howard's three pointers and John Wall's Clutch play the Wizards were back in the game with just 15 seconds, the game looked like it could go either way.
The Celtic's got one back with just five seconds left courtesy of Kevin Garnett. What happened next was incredible to the Wizard fans inside a packed arena that was excrutiatingly painful for Boston Celtic fans. With just 1.4 seconds remaining and trailing 89-86 Josh Howard made his three point throw, which went through the hoops to send the game to overtime.
And that's when the Boston Celtics fatigue came in to play, John Wall who had put up 21 points in the first quarter alone made some critical field goals to give the Wizards a 101-95 victory, and a win that sent the Celtics out of the competition without a single win.
You can thank John Wall for that who recorded 41 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and a block. How good did he play? One of the best performences of the playoffs for sure, he is already the most accurate, this game going 20 of 25 and 1-1 on field goals and three pointers.
"We knew he was going to be a handful, well congratulations to them, they were by far the better team throughout the series, we can't play the what if's game if we put performences like tonight's in throughout the series, history is history, and good luck to them in the future games." said Doc Rivers after the game four loss, which sent the Celtics out.
Throughout the Wizards locker room pregame the song "Champion" by Flipsyde was booming and the players were quitley thinking about the game they were going to try and finish off the Boston Celtics, once and for all during the 2010-11 NBA season.
"We listened to it because we want to win, we want to be champions, we don't want to settle for anything less, we are here to play, and that's what we have been doing and will continue to do, we are here to wreck havok." said John Wall who put in some memorable performences, especially game fours.
Wall has averaged 32 points per game, and 29 before game four's overtime win. Flip Saunders, coach of the Washington Wizards said: "It just shows he's going so much better, I can't stress how much to say, we wouldn't be here without John, he's been fabolous this year, and I stand by my comments at how he was robbed of the MVP title by some choke artist."
Now the Washington Wizards will wait at least a few more days to learn how they will play next in the 2011 NBA Playoffs, one now which they could be considered favorites after the sweep of the Boston Celtics, who have appeared in 2 of the last 3 NBA Finals, and won one of them in 2008.
