Gutted about the V-Card dude, but this is looking good. Lamrock has point about your long paragraphs on simmed games. IMO I think the reason you tire of dynastys is that you are putting so much work into them you are getting tired of them. Likewise for the preview, its a really good read, but if your going to do that for every week its going to take far too long to get through a season, that even assuming you dont tire of it before then. Thing is bro, we all want to see you get through a season, I cant wait to see how you present the playoffs and cover the offseason.

I dunno, no offense intended by the above, more giving you my opinion on how you can extend the longevity of it. Big props on the effort you are putting in though. Perhaps if you want to continue with such detail you would be better to do a 29 game season so at least you get to see some progress while still going so in depth in your previews and recaps (Y)

Sucks about video card.

Ditto to what Mark said. But I'll put it more bluntly, nobody gives a shit about previews. I don't ever waste my time skimming them. I can understand previewing playoff games/series, but not regular season games. I don't waste my time reading real life previews, let along Association ones. In regards to sim recaps, follow a format similar to Lamrock's.

I know it sounds cliche, but sometimes less truly is more. Get your Association message across in a succinct method. Either way, good luck (Y)

Man really tough comments by Mark and The X but I may not be that long here in NLSC to give you some comments but you really need to change your style, sure nice graphics are a plus but it takes them too much time to work and we all know that's tiring. Just go for a simple approach man look at my dynasty I started with a very lame graphical recaps but I changed them to a simple one and I'm almost at the end of my first season. I know my dynasty sucks compare to the others but atleast it's only my 2nd dynasty and it lasted to reach 500 replies. Hope you didn't take it personal I'm still a fan of your dynasties.

It comes down to your own personal enjoyment of the dynasty. I think judging by the fact that you plow through so many different teams (not just in this but FIFA as well) tells me you probably aren't really that into any of the stories you start, get bored early and want to change. I know what it's like, this Claws association is the first time I've ever not become sick of the team and just simmed through to the off-season. Look at it this way; if you had no internet access and couldn't post your association story, would you play through an entire season with the team? Create or find a situation/scenario that would make you answer "yes" to that question and you'll find a story that you won't give up on or get sick of. You'll also stop worrying so much about replies/followers and try to find a balance between necessary and unnecessary walls of text. Something interesting is always an improvement over something "official"... like The-X said, no one reads previews because they aren't interesting. It might make things look more authentic but does that really matter when you spent X amount of time on it and no one reads it.

Anyway I'm not an expert on writing these stories like The-X/Mark/Lamrock/Sit etc but I know what I like to read, so that's my 2 cents. You're a good writer and your graphics are pretty cool too so I think if you could get your sh*t together with these things you could do some pretty impressive stuff.

I agree with X. I'm pretty sure most guys don't even read them. I often just look at the teams you're playing. It will save your time and would probably make things easier. Also more easier for the followers.

Paul leads Hornets' upset over Celtics.

Pierce hits game-high 31 for Boston

BOSTON, November 1 -- The New Orleans Hornets looked to Devin Brown in the fourth quarter. Brown scored all of his 10 points in the final quarter, and Boston's Rasheed Wallace missed a late 3-pointer that would have tied it and send the contest to overtime, helping the Hornets beat the Boston Celtics, 91-88 on Sunday night for the Celtics' first loss of the season. “I told Devin to save us with his shooting,” Hornets guard Chris Paul said. “I said 'make something happen'. He said 'no problem'.” Brown, quiet for much of the game, was 4-for-4 from the field in the fourth quarter after opening 0-for-10, while Paul posted 23 points, six rebounds and eight assists.

“We're playing well. We want to play championship basketball. That's what we're building up to. Our goal is to win a championship, but luck wasn't on our side today,” said Paul Pierce, who scored a game-high 31 points to go with seven boards. Ray Allen added 17 points and Kevin Garnett had yet another double-double with 12 and 11 rebounds for the Celtics. James Posey and David West added 12 points apiece for New Orleans. “I had a chance to get us into overtime and missed the shot. Doc (Rivers) told me there was no pressure on me, just didn't have luck,” Wallace (5 points) said. Boston couldn't hit free throws when needed.

Boston holds off Sixers behind team play.

Six Celtics score in double figures in triumph

PHILADELPHIA, November 3 -- Here's how well the Boston Celtics are playing: Even on great nights, Thaddeus Young and Allen Iverson couldn't take them down. Young had a season-high 20 points, with some eye-popping dunks with all sorts of jumpshots, and played terrific defense on Paul Pierce with the game on the line, but missed two key free throws and Iverson (17 points) couldn't hit a pair of jumpers in the final minute, letting the Celtics slip past the Philadelphia 76ers, 93-90 Tuesday night as Boston gets back on winning ways. “It wasn't the prettiest win, but a win is a win,” Pierce said. “Thaddeus was very tough to guard. So strong, so talented, I had all emphasis on trying to slow him down but he led the Sixers today.” Pierce led six Celtics in double figures with 18 points.

“We gave Thaddeus and Allen some different looks -- they both still exploited some of our coverages. Sometimes we had two people on Thaddeus and he was still able to split them. Luckily we escaped Philadelphia with the win,” Celtics coach Doc Rivers said. Sixers coach Eddie Jordan called Young's performance his best of the season, insisting that “Thaddeus' intensity kept us in the contest.” Boston got 17 points from Ray Allen, 13 from Eddie House (off the bench) and 12 from Rajon Rondo -- who also had seven rebounds and 11 assists -- plus 10 each from Kevin Garnett and Rasheed Wallace. Garnett also had 13 rebounds, for his fifth double-double in as many games, leading the league's double-double table.

With the Sixers' Willie Green only scoring 4 points, Young' four fellow starters hit double figures, with Louis Williams and Elton Brand scoring 16 each and Andre Iguodala racking up 13, to go with eight rebounds and six dimes. Pierce and House each scored 8 in the fourth quarter. However, House was 0-for-2 with two fouls and a turnover, plus a 24-second violation for the team, on a 2-minute span. Boston led 89-81 with 2:41 left following a 3-pointer by House, but Iguodala answered with a 3 of his own. He later added a layup to get the 76ers within three (89-86) with 1:43 left. After a defensive stand by the C's, Iverson streaked for a jumper but Garnett shoved him out of bounds so hard he went sprawling into about the second row of seats behind the basket. Once he gathered himself, he made both foul shots to tie the game at 90. “I wanted to be focused and our team could tell,” Iverson said. “I tried to be as aggressive as possible.” And it still wasn't enough, not against a team that's now with all its players healthy. “They have a lot of weapons. They're definitely the favorite in this conference,” Young said. ”We played a good game, but it doesn't make me feel good because we lost. We aren't happy to just come close.” Celtics' bench outscored Philadelphia's, 35-24.

Kevin Garnett explodes for season-high 27

MINNESOTA, November 4 -- It appears coach Doc Rivers has the Boston Celtics in mid-season form after just six games. Against his former team, Kevin Garnett scored 27 points and 12 rebounds to lead six Celtics in double figures in a 109-79 blowout of the winless Minnesota Timberwolves. Rivers has stressed using speed and agressiveness on both ends of the floor on the morning practices and has paid well. The Celtics never trailed and led by 35 points midway through the last period, holding the Wolves to 15 points on those 12 minutes, and finished the first half with a 8-2 run for a 51-45 lead. “It was important for us to come out and get a win like this,” Garnett said. “We didn't want to take two steps forward and three steps back with a loss like this at home. Especially considering the week we had.”

Rajon Rondo was Garnett's sidekick by contributing 18 points, five rebounds and five assists, including a no-look alley-oop pass to Paul Pierce, who scored 14 points. Eddie House added 15 points from the bench and Ray Allen 13 for Boston. Minnesota shot 36 percent (27-of-73) from the field and committed 18 turnovers, and couldn't hit one single shot from beyond the arc; Boston was 11-of-24 from 3-point land. Corey Brewer led Minnesota with 20 points, while Al Jefferson and Ramon Sessions had 16 and 15, respectively, as the only three Timberwolves scoring in double figures. “They were unstoppable, they made a lot of 3s,” Wolves coach Kurt Rambis said. “We have not been a good team so far, we are one of two teams without wins in the league.” Boston's Brian Scalabrine played only 5 minutes and got injured when going for a layup; he will miss at least one week of action.

Suns can't keep up; third straight win for Boston

Pierce & Garnett combine for 50 points

BOSTON, November 6 -- Paul Pierce scored a season-high 32 points, Kevin Garnett added 28 and seven rebounds, and the Boston Celtics beat the Phoenix Suns, 114-105, for their third straight victory. “Just having Kevin out there, having fun and not on street clothes on the bench, makes everybody's job easier,” Pierce said. “Phoenix spent a lot of time trying to control him and that left a lot of openings for the rest of us.” Pierce and Garnett also had five and seven rebounds, respectively; Garnett couldn't post a double-double for the first time this season, ending the streak at 6 consecutive double-doubles. Eddie House scored 12 points (three games in a row scoring in double figures for him) and Kendrick Perkins 7 points to go with a season-high 13 rebounds. “Kevin's been getting 25-some points every last game, so they had to do something,” Rondo said. “The Suns collapsed on him all night but he couldn't be stopped. Fortunately we had enough guys hitting jumpers when Kevin was resting on the bench.”

Phoenix played a defense zone most of the night, making it tough for the guards to get passes to Garnett and Perkins. Most of the times, when they did get the pass, they were surrounded and had to pass outside, to Pierce, who made 11 of 13 free throws when he ran to the paint. Garnett and Perkins' defense against Channing Frye and Louis Amundson (15 points between them) more than made up for the missed scoring shots, but Amare Stoudemire was the Suns' most effective weapon; he had 30 points and ten boards shooting 13-of-21. “It's not about points every game,” Perkins said. “It's about defending, blocking shots and controlling the paint at both ends. I have to do that for my team to get the W.” Jason Richardson added 20 points and Leandro Barbosa 19 for Phoenix, but they lost their third straight game. Steve Nash and Grant Hill were both held to season-lows, of 7 and 6 points, respectively. “We were looking for Amare in the post all night,” Suns coach Alvin Gentry said. “We really need his inside scoring to keep us in the game and we did get it, but I'm not sure if it was Garnett doing a great job defending or us just being ineffective passing it to Grant or Steve.” Nash had his eyes set on dimes as he had 16.

Boston struggled to pull away most of the game before finally breaking free in the middle of the fourth quarter. The Celtics were up by 7 at the end of the first, with Ray Allen scoring all of his 7 points on that period (3-of-4; didn't shot the rest of the night as he focused on passing and defending). The Suns stayed close until then behind the shooting of Richardson and Barbosa, with Richardson having 15 of his 20 points in the third quarter, a 31-23 partial score for Phoenix against a lethargic Boston defense. Phoenix led by five entering the last quarter, but the inability to stop either Pierce or Garnett from scoring kept them from building on that lead. Rookie Taylor Griffin made his debut for Phoenix scoring 4 points in 3 minutes of play for Phoenix. Both teams shot over 50 percent from the field, but once again, Boston's beyond the arc shooting and charity stripe accuracy had more weight on the final score.

NEW JERSEY, November 7 -- The Celtics placed a bigger emphasis on defense and getting out in the open court and it resulted in a winning formula. Paul Pierce scored 22 points and Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen had 18 apiece as the Boston Celtics won their fourth straight game with a 105-84 victory over the New Jersey Nets on Saturday night. “Our defense stands out,” Celtics head coach Doc Rivers said of the turnovers advantage (12 for Boston, 21 for New Jersey). “That was a major factor for our win tonight.” Rajon Rondo added 12 points, five rebounds and 12 assists, and Rasheed Wallace contributed with 10 for the Celtics, now 7-1, leading the East.

“It all starts with Kevin and Kendrick (Perkins) on defense,” Rondo said. “Their defense has been great and we've been able to get the ball and make plays without any pressure.” Perkins had 8 points for Boston, while Devin Harris scored 16 and Chris Douglas-Roberts and Terrence Williams 12 each for the Nets. “I was disappointed in the way we played tonight,” Nets coach Kiki Vandeweghe said. “They were tougher than us. Defensively, they got after us and we turned the ball over. We competed much better in the first half, but starting the last period, the damage was done.” Keyon Dooling chipped in with 10 points off the bench for the Nets, outscored 28-16 in the paint by Boston.

First off, thanks for the best replies I've ever had. Reading them slowly, I'm dropping the previews completely until playoffs. Will only add the bets for next week in a small post. You'll also see I only wrote a little for simmed games but I had to post pics for them, just for fun... No offense intended in any of the replies, I know it's all true.

Truth is you have photoshop & presentation skills to match Mafia's great Answer is Incomplete dynasty & everybody knows that. I think for everybody it's being like watching Tyrus Thomas flounder away

And yes, Jae hit it on the head with what he said about whether you would start an offline dynasty & run it. Every dynasty I've done is for offline enjoyment, but a couple of them have been posted, mainly to keep a running record of it & add more life & character to generics

I'm glad you cut back on previews, they look a lot better now & I actually looked at them for the first time :P

I do really like that you've added this, but is there any chance on upgrading to a black LCD (wide screen if possible)? The one you got at the moment just doesn't do the rest of your presentation justice

Boston is infinitely more interesting than the Lakers. Are you going to trade Ray Allen (I hope not)?

Brotherhood :: Thierry's Blog (1)

    Thierry's Blog: Behind The Scenes
    Celtics.com/CelticsBeat | November 9th, 2009

Welcome C's fans, to my blog here in Celtics Beat. My name is Thierry Tirieux and manager Danny Ainge signed me from Europe to be part of the assistant coaches team. So this very first all-by-myself post will just help you better get to know who the heck I am. I have lived in beautiful France all my life. I'm 23 years old, I love food (obviously), traveling, reading, being with my friends, and of course, basketball. I also have an unhealthy obsession with American TV series, like Heroes, or just go my local DVD rent store and pick up a good action movie. I grew up in Paris, France and still go there a couple of times a year to visit my friends who still live there. When I'm not traveling for work and am home in France, I really just spend most of the time with my relatives and best friends. Maybe this is information best kept to myself but the truth is, I am my best, my very happiest, when I’m with my family. To be completely honest, I need to work on being a little better at socializing. But I think you didn't click on the blog to know more about me, you want to know about the team, so...

Season's finally here! After two weeks of action we sit on the first spot of the East with a 7-1 record. From what I read from several websites, we are the favorites to win the entire conference and meet the Lakers in June. I gotta say, not because we’re the most talented team in the league, but because I'm confident we have the best chemistry at both ends of the floor. And it never hurts to add quality size: The addition of Rasheed Wallace gives us one of the smartest help defenders of this or any other generation.

In the first practice on training camp, we were focusing on the team's big men. Sheed was there of course, but the other person was Kevin Garnett. In fact, KG was one of the last people off of the practice court, fully recovered from his knee injuries. Then there was Glen Davis; I am starting to think he, along Sheed, could be this team’s sparks of the bench this year, providing high energy minutes when the team looks out of whack, even playing similar positions. After that, I called some other guys from the gym to the court and played a 4-on-4 scrimmage: The Green Team -- Ray Allen, Bill Walker, Marquis Daniels and Big Baby -- against The White Team -- J.R. Giddens, Tony Allen, Sheed and KG. I was impressed by some of Walker's moves, and I already spoke to Doc to give him some minutes in garbage time to grab more confidence. Also, free agents like Chris Mihm and some others are training with us to stay in shape (you will see Mihm on a photo, trying to block Sheed) in hope of getting a roster spot in any team.

I also want to underline the partnership of Paul Pierce and Daniels. It started to become clear after a week of practice that these two are really starting to create a bond. Paul is, without a doubt, a Celtics legend and Marquis was just signed in the offseason and is taking his first steps with this organization, but both two were joking around while finishing up shooting drills and then closed practice with a half-court shooting contest, just like the Shooting Stars contest on All-Star Weekend (Marquis won, to my surprise). A bond like this between a starting player and his first backup is very important, because they rely on each other when playing together to provide scoring opportunities and also trust and support eachother when one of them is drinking Gatorade.

Then a couple of days later, in the morning shootaround, I had my first open talk with the squad (Doc gave me the opportunity). Like Flip Saunders did in the training camp with the Wizards, I gave away iPods to the players, loaded with a huge playbook, and asked them to put them around their necks during practices. Yes, it does require a unique code to use, a bit of protection just in case it gets left in a hotel lobby. It includes videos and diagrams of plays, and it can be updated at any time. I was playing around with them on lunch time and they already got the schedule for what we're going to do in May. From what time we're leaving the bus, shootaround, those are the things that to me make a difference. There's no excuse why you don't know the plays. You can listen to your music and look at the plays.

Well, I hope you liked my first installment of my blog. As you know I'm blogging twice a month, so look for an update by the last days of November. Leave any comments or questions!

Thanks X... that's a huge compliment to me, just to do something like Mafia's great stories, that would be awesome. :) I'm playing a My Player story to me on the side (that's where I got the pics for the blog). Everyone said something about the previews, and some of you a couple of stories ago :shake: So, they're gone.

Sure, will change it for a black LCD. I think that will look better, in fact (Y) I had the Lakers on my mind before for a story but I thought only Sit would follow it, so I discarded the idea. As I said in other post, Ray is not of my favourite players, I don't have any problem with him, but his 19m expiring contract is a huge trade bait to get other players... some rumors are surfacing already (in real life) that Ray may be on the trading block.

Thanks guys. I knew some of you wouldn't like the team selection but it's ok. I know you're following (Special thanks, Martti) :D

Thanks a lot bro. I'm actually having fun with the C's and man, Sheed still can shoot! He may be crazy and almost 40 years old, but wow, he's really accurate from 3-point land. :cheeky:

A lot of you told me to cut the previews a loooooooooooooong time ago. Fool of me.

Enjoy the blog. Any comments or suggestions (may do later an article on player stats, maybe you want an article on a player not getting many minutes), just comment.

Oh, and even better news. As all of you know, my GeForce 9600 got screwed a couple of days ago. So, my father (has diplomas in this kinds of stuff, he can ensamble PCs, fix, all of that) broke the little piggy bank and got me a brand new ATI Radeon HD 5770 (pic taken by me today)

Oh grats on getting the 5770, the 5700 series are great cards (Y) Not quite up to a 5800 series :p (I just got a 5850 recently) but it will totally dominate this game, can't wait to see what else you bring.
I really liked the blog, the border on the pic is mean too (Y)

• Rajon Rondo: 8+ apg on the week :: 100 on it.
• Ray Allen: 20+ points against Utah :: 50 on it.
• Kevin Garnett: Double-double vs. Atlanta :: 200 on it.
• Paul Pierce: At least 10 field goals made at Indiana :: No Bet.
• Record: 2-1
