Bobcats lost Felton, the race for Iverson and so they signed Marbury.
Marbury gets 70M deal from the Bobcats
The Charlotte Bobcats announced today that they have signed 13-year veteran, FA Stephon Marbury to a 6-year, 69.89M deal.
The Bobcats needed help at the point, as RFA Raymond Felton signed with the Pistons and Allen Iverson reached a deal with the Grizzlies.
This deal is a huge risk, because when the contract expires, Marbury would be 38 and still making over 10M annually. Marbury is also known for his attitude problems and he is very out of shape.
'Starbury' only played 23 games last season with the Celtics, having spend most of the season inactive with the Knicks. He shot just 34% from the field during the regular season. He reduced it to 30% in the Playoffs.
Now he will be starting for the Bobcats. Go figure.
This deal is described by specialists and analysts as "What the **** were they thinking?".
The Bobcats also announced the signing of Smush Parker, also to a 6-year deal.

Childress averaged 8.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.1 steals per game during the Euroleague 2008-09 season and 13.5 points and 3.8 rebounds in the Greek League.
