Almost No Chance Of A 2012-2013 Season

Derek Fisher, President of the NBA Players Association made a statement yesterday, saying, "Due to the labor disputes, the NBA is highly unlikely to have a 2012-2013 season. I'm certain there's almost no chance of avoiding a lockout. The disputes have turned pretty fierce over the last couple months and all signs are leading toward an NBA lockout at this point."

Just a day after this ominous statement, North Carolina Domination GM Zee Otoo, along with a few others, made a very intriguing statement.

Zee Otoo announced, "In the event of a lockout, we have a plan for an alternate season for the 2012-13 season. We have agreements with sixteen cities, that will remain undisclosed for the time being. They are cities that currently do not have an NBA team, in an effort to entertain those who usually can't just up and go to a game when they please. NBA players will be encouraged to join the Alternate Basketball League (ABL) Draft and can do it as early as the end of the playoffs. They will have until October 31st to join the draft and the draft will be held on November 15th if the lockout hasn't ended by then. There will be sixteen teams and nine rounds, meaning 144 players will play in the league. Rookies who are drafted in the 2012 NBA Draft will be allowed to enter the ABL Draft. Players who are not selected or choose not the join the ABL are welcome to play overseas or just chill at home.

Again, this is only if there is no NBA season next season. We are hoping for a usual season in the fall, but if there's not, the ABL should be pretty interesting for a year. Thank you."

Re: NC Domination [15-11] Lockout For Real?- Zee Otoo's Plan

Postby Axel The Great on Tue Apr 12, 2011 6:51 am

Great to see my man K-Mart tearing up defenses! :D 56 is a career high for him.

Nice plan with the ABL, sounds like a revolt against the NBA. :P But then what will happen once the NBA resumes business again?

Hopefully the NBA will resume after just one season. The ABL is just until the NBA resumes business.

Jaw-Dropping Dunk From Corey Harrington Indirectly Destroys Lakers

Fans go insane when they see a free-throw line dunk, right? Now imagine a dunk from behind the free-throw line! Rookie Corey Harrington stunned the world with his huge dunk late in the third quarter, and suddenly all the momentum shifted to the Domination, who turned a seven-point deficit into an eight-point victory in about ten minutes of play. Other than the dunk, "The Core" had a fairly ordinary game with 12 points and 9 assists, but Jared Dudley scored a game-high 36, two more than Kobe Bryant, and Tyson Chandler got his second-triple double of the season. Anthony Morrow scored four of five from outside and a season-high nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Kobe Bryant did all he could to keep the Lakers afloat in the game. He was 15-19 from the field, while Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum totaled 16-17 FG% between them, but they were held off the boards for the most part. But Trevor Ariza did his usual brick-chucking in the fourth quarter, and had he made a few, the Lakers may have won. The Lakers go into the playoffs on a three-game losing streak, while the Domination play the Memphis Grizzlies in the final game of the regular season, and then go on to their first-ever playoffs.

Playoff-Bound Domination Lose To League-Worst Grizz To End Season

Not exactly what you'd call a strong finish to a season as a team. Individually, J-Dud (38 points) and Corey (15 points, 16 assists) played very well, but nobody was able to contain rookie Dan Messina. With 31 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals, Dan Messina played his uptempo game with Tony Allen, Emeka Okafor, and Andrei Kirlenko helping out. The team has been an absolute mess all season, particularly since trading Rudy Gay for Andrea Bargnani, and then playing Bargs off the bench and starting Robert Swift.

The game went back and forth as the Grizzlies held their own for the entire game. Somehow Memphis was able to lead by as much as nine in the fourth quarter. Later, Corey Harrington and Jared Dudley completed a 10-0 run of their own, which was immediately followed by three straight fastbreak layups by Dan Messina. The Domination never led in the last five minutes. However, the young franchise clinched the sixth seed in the East, and will face their third-seeded homestate rivals: the Charlotte Bobcats.

MEM: 30|54|71|101| Dan Messina: 31 points (14-17 FG%, 2-3 3P%, 1-2 FT%), 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 0 blocks, 4 steals, 3 fouls, 6 turnovers
NCD: 27|52|75|96| Jared Dudley: 38 points (15-20 FG%, 7-10 3P%, 1-1 FT%), 3 rebounds, 0 assists, 1 block, 2 steals, 3 fouls, 3 turnovers

NCD [16-14] (6) Domination vs. (3) Bobcats

The rivalry continues. The NBA's two youngest franchises are both in North Carolina and they produced seven All-Stars in the last two seasons: Boris Diaw, Jared Dudley, Gerald Wallace, Josh Smith, Raymond Felton, Tyson Chandler, and rookie Corey Harrington. Both have undergone big changes, and have lived up to big expectations and surpassed them. Let's look at these overachieving teams in greater detail, position by position:

Center: Tyson Chandler is an All-Star who now has legitimate offense and one of the best defensive skillsets in the league. For Charlotte, Joel Anthony has improved his already strong defense further, but still doesn't have much offense. Chandler is also a much better rebounder than Anthony, but Anthony is stronger. Bobcat reserves Ian Mahinmi, Kwame Brown, and Nazr Mohammed edge out Desgana Diop and near-retirement Ben Wallace. Advantage: North Carolina

Power Forward: Wilson Chandler, Walter Herrmann, Patrick Patterson, Ben Wallace, and Jared Dudley (sparingly) play the power forward position, while the Bobcats have two All-Stars in Gerald Wallace and Josh Smith who play there. Dudley scores more and Gerald Wallace is the best defender, but they spend most of their time at the 3. Ian Mahinmi will get some decent minutes at the 4, but there won't be much need for anyone else since there are two All-Stars who play there 90% of the time anyway. Advantage: Charlotte

Small Forward: Jared Dudley started the season in a slump, didn't make the All-Star team, but played his heart out after it, putting up some major points, and he got himself onto the Top 10 Scorers list for the season. We'll see how he handles Gerald Wallace's tighter-than-ever defense. When Wallace isn't at the three, it will either be Stephen Jackson, Josh Smith, a momentum-driven Matt Carroll, or Nick Young - all very capable opponents. Jared Dudley's backups? Paul George, Mario West, James White, and an injured Gerald Henderson. Advantage: Charlotte

Shooting Guard: Stephen Jackson has taken a step back this season. He's still very capable, but he's regressed. He only averaged 15 points and 4 rebounds this season and Nick Young is threatening his starting spot for next season. Matt Carroll has dropped 20 in three of Charlotte's last five games. Salim Stoudamire has played well recently and rookie Axel Gomez has been known to play a few minutes at the 2. For the most part, their opponents will be Shannon Brown, Anthony Morrow, Mario West, and Paul George. Advantage: Charlotte

Point Guard: Corey Harrington has been insane to the point where he has been selected to be an All-Star as a rookie. He's already a top defender in the league, and already puts up stats close to Rajon Rondo, Derrick Rose, and Russell Westbrook. He will be facing another All-Star point guard in Raymond Felton. That doesn't bother Harrington, who averages about three steals per game. Harrington is also confident in his reserves: Acie Law, Anthony Morrow, and Shannon Brown. "I think they can stack up against Salim and that Gomez kid. If they can't, I will." Advantage: North Carolina

Prediction: These are two well-matched teams. Look for hard-fought battles and don't be surprised to see a couple of close games with game winners. The Domination should be able to steal at least one game, probably two, but Charlotte is too good of a team for them. Charlotte in 5

Lockout Might Be Postponed Again or Avoided Altogether

NBA Players Association President Derek Fisher says there is a better chance of a season in 2013. "I think we're starting to agree on things. There's definitely a much better chance of a season next year."

Most of the people in the NBA were thrilled, while some were looking forward to playing in the ABL, or in Zee Otoo's case, managing it. "Some other time?" In any case, he was happy there would be a season next year.

Game 1: Harrington and Dudley Kick Off Playoffs With A Bang

Despite facing the strongest defensive team in the league, the Domination were able to pull off a crucial one-point victory in their first-ever playoff game. Harrington scored a team-high 19 points, while reducing All-Star Raymond Felton to four points and six assists and five fouls. "I got his number. I know the Bobcats well enough to know that if Raymond Felton is shut down, they don't win games. So I just have to play my best defense, and this series is ours."

In Felton's virtual absence, Josh Smith and Matt Carroll scored 20 apiece and Stephen Jackson and Gerald Wallace scored 19 apiece. These guys put the Bobcats ahead by as much as 10 in the fourth quarter, but North Carolina blazed back and with just 29 seconds left, the Domination had the ball and were one point down. The Domination had an answer. Harrington dribbled the clock down to nine seconds, and shot the ball with Josh Smith all over him. The ball barely touched rim and fell directly into Walter Herrmann's hands, who quickly dished the rock to Jared Dudley. Dudley went for the layup. Gerald Wallace was unable to block it, and the Domination were on top with three seconds left. Stephen Jackson then airballed an 18-foot jumper and the Bobcats fell short. The Domination had won their first ever playoff game!

CHA: 27|53|71|101| Gerald Wallace: 19 points (8-10 FG%, 0-0 3P%, 3-3 FT%), 14 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, 1 turnover, 1 foul
NCD: 20|49|71|102| Corey Harrington: 19 points (6-10 FG%, 1-3 3P%, 6-7 FT%), 0 rebounds, 12 assists, 5 steals, 2 blocks, 2 turnovers, 5 fouls

Game 2: Enter Jared Dudley

46 unbelievable points from Jared Dudley helped the Domination force overtime and then win in overtime by a single point. While those points came from chucking 18 threes and 41 total shots, it was still effective in getting the win. Corey Harrington's defense was strong as usual, getting five steals and holding Raymond Felton to eight points on 30% shooting.

While Felton didn't get into foul trouble until the very end of the game, he had solid backup. Salim Stoudamire and Axel Gomez racked up 24 points. Josh Smith got his usual double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds, and he only missed one shot all game - a half-court three at the end of the first half. Matt Carroll broke out of a slump in the dying seconds of regulation. After bricking his first five shots, he somehow crossed up Wilson Chandler, and got to the rim for a game-tying layup. Jared Dudley missed the subsequent full-court lob and the game went to overtime, where Walter Herrmann scored both his threes and Jared Dudley sank a twenty foot jumper to seal the victory. The Domination need to win just one of their next three games to advance to the second round to face the winner of (2) Chicago vs. (7) Boston.

CHA: 29|52|74|99||106| Josh Smith: 18 points (8-9 FG%, 0-1 3P%, 2-2 FT%), 10 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals, 2 blocks, 2 fouls, 1 turnover

Domination Stay Hot, Sweep Bobcats

As Nick Young missed a game-tying three at the buzzer, Jared Dudley put his hands in the air and yelled, "WE DID IT!" As he, Tyosn Chandler, and Corey Harrington ran toward the locker rooms yelling in their excitement, Shannon Brown, excited as anyone else thought about how close all three games had been. All three games had been decided by a single basket, and Brown knew they would need more than this to face the Bulls or Celtics.

Jared Dudley had been on fire again, scorching the net with threes, rebounding twelve times, even dishing six assists. Corey Harrington had made phenomenal plays on offense and defense, while Tyson Chandler clogged the paint all night. They had done this despite great inside shooting from the Bobcats. Joel Anthony had been crazy on defense and on the boards, Gerald Wallace had been even better on defense. Somehow the Bobcats had come this close without a three. The Domination scored 13 threes and played an equally good all-around game, yet they barely came out on top. The Domination couldn't be bothered. They had just upset their first playoff opponents - their rivals - with a sweep!
