The Rookie Challenge turn out to be an exciting one each players from both team give their best performance.
Jonny Flynn led the Rookies with the game high 34 points and 10 assists. Later he was announced as the MVP of the game.
"Tonight was just a blessing, the award is great but for us rookies to win in this game is the sweetest part of it. But next year the rookies streak will end because of us guys" Jonny Flynn said.
The Rookies team were down early in the first half but before the first half ended Jonny Flynn and James Harden went on fire from the arc as they grabbed the lead 47 - 45 before entering the second half. James Harden scored 10 points in the first half while Jonny Flynn added 19.
Rookies coach Devin Harris was impressed by his players. "Those two really give us the push we need, I told them to just play their game and boom suddenly were up those two can really score." Devin Harris said.
The momentum did shift in the second half as the Sophomores can't seem to find a way to score as they missed their first 12 shots in the second half. They were down by 12 until Derrick Rose got to work, scoring 5 straight points and finding open teammates as he lead the Sophomores to tied the game 82 - 82.
Closing minutes in last half the Sophomores are up by two 99 - 97. Jonny Flynn goes for a jumpshot but gets blocked by OJ Mayo but the ball bounced to an open Brandon Jennings and nails the three pointer to put the Rookies up by one 100 - 99. Jonny Flynn sets the play for the Rookies drives to the basket and kick out pass to Brandon Jennings for another wide open three, Jennings puts the Rookies up 103 - 101 with 30 seconds left. But with the experienced they got the Sophomores relax for their play. Rose passed it to Mayo, Mayo pump faked and goes for the jumpshot but he passed it Joe Alexander for a monster dunk. The Sophomores tied the game 103 - 103 with 10 seconds left. Jonny Flynn gets the ball but was surprised by the double-team of Rose and Westbrook, time is winding down but he cannot past through the double-team then he saw an open Trey Gilder on the corner and passed him the ball. Trey Gilder catch the ball and with no hesitation shoots the uncontested three for the win. The Rookies have shocked the Sophomore as they win 106 - 103.

Ray Allen once again is the three-points champion as he show that in terms of shooting beyond the arc he is still the best. Allen beat Kobe Bryant in the final round 27 - 22.

Ray Allen scored 26 while Kobe Bryant scored 24 in the first round but he was tied by Dirk Nowitzki. The two got into the tie breaker but both have struggled, Bryant outscored Nowitzki 4 - 3. Rashard Lewis fell short in the first round with 23 while Michael Redd and Kevin Martin each scored 14.First Round Pictures ![]()

"It was just luck for me to win this, I mean my opponent went into the tie-breaker and got into the final round and scored 22 while his shooting hand has an injury, Kobe is just an amazing player maybe we can have a rematch next time when his fully healed. As for this trophy I think of this as a consolation for me not being in the allstar team, no offense to the other guys but I think I deserve to be in there." Allen said.
