Due to how bad he's been sucking in real life and im not sure he's even in this roster i'm using (i havent seen him, if he is, he's very low ranked), Probably not. And also i fucking love deron williams. Seriously, being able to play as a guy you had class with is just a surreal feeling. You never know though. After all, there are a couple of pieces I wouldnt mind shifting around to add some depth to this Jazz roster. Its weird because as far as the top 6 guys, they're really well off. Then it just drops into oblivion (the guy i d/led from must've hated hayward too, i played with him a bit to fix it to closer to his real life play style..he was a 74 with an F potential)

That lakers game i play before is now irrrelevant with the change in logo though so ill be replaying that and writing it up at some point this week. Don't expect it till late in the week though.

So based on what yall know from me in the Speed story, any predictions?

Well, don't know how well you are going to use Al Jefferson but I will be guessing 40-45 wins from you this season. :)

Show make a big FA signing before their first game against the Lakers

Dr Gonzo smiling took the podium while wearing a vintage Atlanta Hawks jersey. He had called a press conference and said nothing more than "be there you pigs"

"I called you all here today to announce that a true legend is coming out of retirement for us. The second all time blocks leader, and the most recognizable finger in the world....DIKEMBE MUTOMBO!!!"

Dikembe comes out from the side of the stage smiling and wagging his finger.

"As much as I like our big men, I was worried we're lacking in the toughness department. So i took a look at who we might be able to pick up, and the answer of course was Mount Mutombo." Gonzo with his trademark smirk plastered across his face and the wild fiery look always in his eyes then gave the floor to Dikembe.

"Doc called me and I figured why not? I can't wait to be a part of this team. I may be twice the age of some of the guys on this team but that doesnt mean i cant still contribute" Dikembe quipped as the press flurried him with questions about what his hopes for the season are.

Gonzo also announced the Show Schedule for the year....See it below.

Show fall to defending champion Lakers

Las Vegas 94 - Los Angeles 106

There was a buzz in Silver State Arena as the seats filled in slowly for the first game of the "new" Las Vegas Show. Would the team be able to sustain it's winning ways it enjoyed under Jerry Sloan? Would they be as popular as they were in Utah? Could Deron Williams make the jump from strong point guard to elite? The team is full of mystery.

Well, the first night few answers if any were given as the defending Lakers came in to Vegas and took down the show in their opening game. The turning point appeared to be in the 2nd half where the Lakers started attacking the basket...and not missing shooting 62% as a team and pulling away in the fourth quarter by double digits. When Deron Williams fouled out with 2 minutes left in the game and the Lakers up 9, the home crowd began to shuffle out. However, these people missed the appearance of Dikembe Mutombo and his steal/coast to coast dunk finish. That was the sole highlight of the second half for the Show.

Lakers star Kobe Bryant, who was the player of the game, said after the game "Well, we knew we were better than them and how we played in the first half, when we come out for the second we wanted go at them with everything we had. So we did it on both ends, and they couldn't keep up." The Lakers also had stellar Defensive numbers amounting 12 blocks and 9 turnovers.

Show Coach Raoul Duke wearing his trademark aviators was a little down but his usual insane self "Well, we're just gonna have to work to get up to speed. Obviously the new style of coaching and the move are a big impact on a team and it may take a few games for us to figure it out. Don't worry, we're not giving up just yet. I may need to play with the rotations some to keep some guys fresh down the stretch. Don't worry, you guys aint seen nothin yet. Buy the ticket, take the ride."

No 'Melo drama here as the Nuggets Cruise to a win

Las Vegas 100 - Denver 108

The Show dropped their 2nd straight game in the Mile-High city tonight against a Nuggets team showing no signs of strife amidst trade talks of star Carmelo Anthony.

The Vegas group came out dominant in the first quarter. Deron Williams had 10 assists in the first quarter alone and the young Al Jefferson looked like he would have his way with the Nuggets usually vaunted frontcourt.

In the 2nd quarter everything changed.

Deron began to get called for ticky tack fouls (spending a large portion of the 2nd and 3rd on the bench), Denver's combination of Kenyon Martin, nene, and Birdman started to slow down Jefferson, and from that point on: it was all Denver. Over the next three quarters the Nuggets outscored the Show by 13 and the final score makes the game appear closer than it was.

"Yeah we knew it was over in the third quarter. With Deron in foul trouble and nobody else doing much, we weren't too scared. They made a little run at the end there or it would've been a double digit game" said Carmelo Anthony who spent a large portion of the 2nd half out of position or on the bench just for fun. "It was good to get our younger guys some minutes."

In the Show locker room there was obvious discord in the air and grumblings of "It was even worse when coach Sloan was here" were heard by this reporter. However the team leaders seemed to be taking it all in stride.

"Its the second game of the season, we took on a playoff team at home, and we barely lost. There's no need to panic yet. A few things fall differently, some calls/shots bounce our way, and we had this game" said Al Jefferson who had a stellar night with 40 points and 8 assists on the offensive side.

"Yeah I gotta start being more careful on my breaks and not commiting that charge. Let the game come to me instead of forcing it. We're still learning Coach Duke's system but i think once we do we have a great shot at a championship" said Williams. "This is just an adjustment, not the end of the world"

Yeah yeah we know he put up 24 pts and 15. But he only played 25 minutes due to fouls forcing a large load onto Earl Watson, shot like shit (6-19) and turned it over 7 times. Not exactly worthy of "star" player status. More like efficiency sinkhole

Show Bully Bobcats on the Road

Las Vegas 116 - Charlotte 86

Late in the fourth quarter, Jeremy Evans got his first minutes of the season. The Western Kentucky standout hadn't done much to impress the coaches nor did they think he would. Shaun Livingston was bringing the ball up court. Evans smirked, stuck out a hand, swiped the ball with ease and had a solo fast break.

Evans could've done alot of things here. He could've pulled it back and run out clock. He could've softly laid it in. He could've even reverse dunked it. What did Evans do? A 360 slam from just inside the freethrow line. The Show bench went wild as the crowd remained silent, since they were mostly gone already.

That play pretty much sums up how it looked all night for this Show team who pulled out their first win tonight. Everything bounced their way. Whether it was outrebounding (24-16), outpassing (32-25 ast), or out freethrow shooting (30 versus 7), this team finally looked like the playoff team from last year.

"It was a great night out there" said team captain Deron Williams "Everybody played great, well except for me and my fouls again. But we told you guys to not panic. We got this"

"This is the team I came here to coach" Coach Raoul Duke added while swigging a celebratory bottle of Wild Turkey. "Those fascist pigs from Charlotte didnt know what hit em!"

ah forgot the North Vegas Hooker award in the last game. Will go back and fix that later.

Big Al's a beast, just like Carlos was in your last D. Still youre not getting enough boards from him and Millsap.

Yeah I'm working on that, Millsap wasnt getting enough minutes early, he's gonna get some more from here on. As far forcing more boards though not really sure what I can do. Maybe up crash boards a little.

Al Jefferson is dominating all comers. Deron Williams isn't doing anything special though

Whenever i try to use him more he fouls out, i'd rather have him in and play it safe than to gun for his stats and be stuck with earl watson/ronnie price for 3 quarters. Gonna work on it though.

The Heat game is played probably update tomorrow night.

Re: Ballout: New Vegas (2-2 Showdown in South Beach)

Postby Oznogrd on Wed Feb 16, 2011 12:57 am

Show take their talents to South Beach and pull out a last second win

Las Vegas 97 - Miami 94

The Miami crowd had fanned up. American Airlines Arena was deafening. Players on both sides were yelling to communicate switches on d or options on offense. The game had been a back and forth battle. Every basket the Show made, the Heat answered. For much of the game, there was a 1 point differential. In the fourth quarter, the game was almost constantly tied as the teams traded blows.

Al Jefferson with the Dunk

Chris Bosh with the Post up

Deron Williams with the 3

Mike Miller answers with one of his own

Mehmet Okur with the jumper

Lebron James with the penetration slam

The entire fourth quarter was like this and for awhile it looked like the Show were'nt going to able to hold off the constant onslaught of Lebron James who it seemed no one could guard. The Show were trying everything. Big men, little men, one of the best defensive Russians to play the game. Lebron made them all look like kids on the schoolyard.

But unfortunately 1 man can't do it alone.

Trading punches for an entire game was getting old. The game was in its final minute and Lebron had that look in his eye. His eff you mode. The last 8 or so possessions had gone through him, the Show didnt have an answer despite still being up 1. Lebron once again got into the lane. He went up for one of the hard slams he'd been delivering the whole game. Al Jefferson went up with him. And swatted that shit clean. Lebron had lost the ball halfway through the arc of his jump and the Show had possession as Deron Williams quickly grabbed and protected the loose ball. Smiling Deron ran out some clock before a quick pick and roll to put the Vegas team up 3. The Heat quickly inbounded and managed a bucket but ate too much clock. There was less than 6 seconds left . The Show inbounded to Deron Williams who was quickly fouled. He calmly sank the two clutch buckets. On their last chance, the Heat passed the ball into Lebron. He had made a half courter earlier to end the 2nd quarter. They figured lightning could strike twice. Unfortunately they were wrong as the prayer clanked off the rim and down to the floor.

"That was a hard fought game and we're glad we proved we can hang with the best in the game tonight" said Show Coach Raoul Duke "WE ARE WHO WE THOUGHT WE WERE!!!"

Player of the Game Al Jefferson was all smiles after having come up with the clutch, possibly game saving block "I had been watching him on all those dunks. He had a little stutter that was throwing off our usual timing. I caught on to it, timed it, and went for it. Luckily D-Will was there to pick up the ball and we pulled out the win. It was a hard fought game though and it could've gone either way."

The Show rise to 2-2 after this triumph, putting them at .500 for the first time this year.

Player of the Game
Al Jefferson
41 pts 12 reb 1 ast 2 blk

North Vegas Hooker Award
Mario Chalmers
He may have had 7 points and 8 assists with his 2 steals, but Mario Chalmers shot a miserable 3-11, by far the person keeping his team out of the game rather than in it

Notable Show Performances
Mehmet Okur 20 pts 3 reb
Deron Williams 14 pts 3 reb 19 ast 1 stl 1 blk

Notable Heat Performances
Lebron James 31 pts 3 reb 7 ast 1 stl 2 blk 15-17 shooting
Mike Miller 14 pts 1 reb
Chris Bosh 12 pts 6 reb 2 ast 2 blk
Zydrunas Ilgauskas 12 pts 3 reb 1 stl 2 blk
D. Wade 8 pts 4 reb 7 ast 2 blk

Up Next: Can the Show keep their momentum against a finally Healthy Houston Rockets team? Or will the great wall of china be too much? Stay tuned.
