Hopefully is the Sixers (no storie about them in the last year?)... but I think it's the Clips too.

2010-11 Season In Review: Part 1

Yikes.

June 19, 2011 - The 2010-11 season was nothing to write home about for us, as per usual, so I'll keep this short. Amid a turrible start, that saw former all-star Baron Davis get benched, and worst all-star of all-time Chris Kaman miss a myriad of games with injury, our season was doomed from the start. Though we had an inspired January, we eventually succumbed to our fate, and tanked to a 27-55 finish.

The season wasn't all bad though. With the emergence of DeAndre Jordan, we were able to deal Kaman and draft bust Randy Foye to the Nuggets for expiring power forward Kenyon Martin. Oh yeah, and Blake Griffin emerged as a future superstar, winning the rookie of the year award and just missing out on an all-star berth. (Unfortunately, an injury caused him to miss the slam dunk contest. Eric Gordon replaced him, but lost to Javale McGee's now infamous segway dunk in the finals)

This was a losing season, but also an exciting one. Eric Gordon emerged as a prolific, leading the team in scoring this season and looks to be a great co-star to Blake Griffin. Rookies Al-Farouq "Aminu Acids" Aminu and Eric Bledsoe also showed promise off the bench. Unfortunately, the draft lottery proved to be a disappointment. With the third best odds, we fell to the fifth pick.

Clippers Trade Kaman, Foye to Nuggets for Kenyon Martin
Carmelo trade now unlikely
by NBA.net correspondent Ken Chalmers

Image January 18, 2011 - The Denver Nuggets announced today that they have agreed to trade veteran forward Kenyon Martin to the Los Angeles Clippers for 2010 all-star Center Chris Kaman and combo guard Randy Foye.

Kaman, 28, had a career season last year, averaging 18.5 points and 9.3 rebounds per game, and being named an injury replacement in the all-star game. His numbers have fallen off this season due to injury however, and he has averaged just 10.5 points and 7.1 boards per outing. With multiple years still remaining on his contract, and the emergence of DeAndre Jordan, Kaman has been on the trading block. Foye, 27, was signed as a free agent this past off-season, but has failed to crack the Clippers' rotation, averaging just 4 points in 11 minutes per game.

Kenyon Martin, 33, has missed most of this season with a knee injury, and has put up paltry numbers of 5.9 points and 4.4 rebounds. The former #1 pick does however, have a 16.5 million dollar expiring contract. The trade could leave the Clippers with as much as $26 million in cap space, putting them at a huge financial advantage, making them a potential suitor for Carmelo Anthony and preparing them for a potentially severe new CBA.

Image Image

Taking on Kaman's multi-year deal means that the Nuggets are unlikely to trade Carmelo. The deal is expected to shift starting center Nene to the power forward slot. "We are ready to contend for a title", Nuggets GM Masai Ujiri said at the press conference. The Clippers, meanwhile, let their longest tenured player go, and officially hand the keys of the franchise to rookie phenom Blake Griffin.

Grading the deal:
Image The Nuggets seemingly improved their team short-term, but handcuffed themselves financially and added two very inefficient offensive players in Kaman and Foye. Grade: C-
Image The Clippers traded an all-star center and solid combo guard for a guy who will likely never play for them. This move is addition by subtraction, and while they probably could have gotten a pick as well out of the deal, this move should bode well for them. Grade: B+

The X won the first contest. (and by win, I mean came in third. The grinch won...) Second will have to be a sig competition. Couldn't help but pick them. Decided to use them on a whim (jumping on the bandwagon) and fell in love with them again.

First recap is pretty hideous, but I promise that the aesthetics will improve.

So it's the Clips, good luck with breaking that curse ;)

Was thinking of taking them too for my dynasty, cause Griffin and Gordon are some great talent to build around, and you have some trading pieces and Kaman and maybe Baron too, so it'll be interesting to see how you work it out :)

I should have realised you were taking the Clips when you told me yesterday or day before. Too bad it didn't register

It will be a lot of fun :) You would have pretty decent cap space? Wondering what you will do with it. And wonder where Baron Davis will be headed!

Thanks guys (although Martti not as much :P). Since I dealt Kaman (will need to flesh out coverage of that deal), I have a lot of cap space. Don't forget who are owner is though...

That will go as the greatest trade ever. The two best players, not considering The Greatness That Is Joel Anthony. :cheeky:

Contest to guess which team? Travesty I say! I guessed it first! See for yourself a couple posts up. I don't like the start of this Association. :shake:

First of all, this
Javale McGee's now infamous segway dunk in the finals
sounds totally amazing, and I seriously think you should e-mail McGee or somehow get in contact with him and suggest he do it.

Second: Kahn, what the fuck? If I'm reading this right, the T'Wolves were rolling with a lineup of:
    PG Flynn, ?
SG Vujacic, Ellington, Lazar Hayward (just so fools don't think I was talking about Gordon)
    SF Beasley, Johnson, Stojakovic, Kapono
    PF Love, Tolliver, Dorsey
    C Gadzuric, Battie
That's pathetic. I can't believe those jokers managed 32 wins (not to belittle the beastly glory of Kevin Love). At least they have loads of cap room, right?

I love the Hayes/Wallace swap. Most useless trade ever. Aged Wallace is basically a slightly taller Chuck Hayes.
Phoenix is just rearranging the deck chairs, and it cost them a 1st rounder to do it. Lame. Nice that TOR nabbed the pick, though.
Speaking of the Raps, I dig the Childress addition. Not huge on the swap with Minny, though. Adds a lot of long term salary for mediocre talent, at best.
Knicks made a bold move. Jamison's salary probably keeps them from adding another big name player in free agency. 42-40 makes it look like waste.
Like the Hill addition for Boston. Losing Lil' Nate is like addition by subtraction, so it's a double bonus for the C's. Will it pay off in the playoffs?
I can't believe the Bucks found a dumber team than themselves to unload Maggette.
Thierry doesn't know what he's talking about. Vujacic is a bitch, and now Darko's light will once again be darkened, this time in the shadow of the useless lump we call Brook Lopez.
As for the Clips deal, well any trade that gets rid of Kaman and Foye is a good deal (unless it's for Maggette or Vujacic, then it's fucking stupid).

Good luck, and let the Blake Show begin!

Glad to see you back on the forums, TheMC5. Nice analysis of the trades. Minnesota's moves were actually pretty brilliant - all the players they got were on expiring deals, and they finally cleared up the PG spot for Rubio to come in next year (if he does). Plus, it (should have) helped their lottery odds.
