January Reports: Part Three

R2MVP

1. Kobe Bryant, SG, LA Lakers (38-10)
29.4 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 4.7 APG, 1.8 SPG, .492 FG%, .316 3P%, .887 FT%, 34.9 MPG

Last Month: 1

The Lakers ended this month with an 8 games winning streak and still counting. Bryant averaged 28.8 PPG, 7.5 RPG and 5.6 APG in those eight games. The team is way on top in the standings and we can’t see any reason why he can’t be on top of the race.

2. Lebron James, SF, Miami Heat (31-17)
25.7 PPG, 8.1 RPG, 6.7 APG, 2.0 SPG, 1.1 BPG, .506 FG%, .315 3P%, .775 FT%, 38.8 MPG

Last Month: 2

Talking about a man on a mission, the Miami Heat is also on an 8 games winning streak and its all because of James. Tallying three triple doubles in those eight games and including a 41 point performance against the Atlanta Hawks. Nothing personal, but Wade is not the main man in Miami.

3. Derrick Rose, PG, Chicago Bulls (30-17)
29.4 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 8.4 APG, 1.4 SPG, .530 FG%, .339 3P%, .822 FT%, 39.7 MPG

Last Month: 4

Rose had his season high 47 points on a loss against the Memphis then the following night he scored 35 points then follow it up with another 35 points. Rose is tied with Kobe as the best scorer in the league, he is also top 4 in the assist department. The result of Rose hard work is the Bulls are only one game behind to the Heat for the best record in the East.

4. Dirk Nowitzki, PF, Dallas Mavericks (31-16)
26.8 PPG, 8.3 RPG, 1.0 SPG, 1.1 BPG, .511 FG%, .395 3P%, .922 FT%, 34.1 MPG

Last Month: 3

The Mavericks are 3-7 in their last 10 games including a 4 games losing streak. Nowitzki has been quite inconsistent in that stint. There will be a game he would score 30 points then he will followed that up with a 15 points performance. This might be the Mavericks last chance to win a championship and inconsistency is not the right way to do it.

5. Brandon Roy, SG, Portland Traiblazers (27-20)
27.1 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 5.0 APG, 1.7 SPG, .502 FG%, .355 3P%, .805 FT%, 36.9 MPG

Last Month: 5

One of the hottest team in the league, the Trailblazers went on 8-2 in their last 10 games. The Blazers rely heavily on Brandon Roy to create offense for them. Roy also dropped 45 points against the Heat early this month.

On the bubble: Deron Williams, PG Utah Jazz | Chris Paul, PG New Orleans Hornets | Dwight Howard, C Orlando Magic | Kevin Durant, SF Oklahoma City Thunder | Josh Smith, SF Atlanta Hawks

Rookie Rankings

1. John Wall, PG, Washington Wizards
20.9 PPG, 4.7 RPG, 6.6 APG, 2.6 SPG, 0.3 BPG, .459 FG%, .302 3P%, .738 FT%, 39.6 MPG

Last Month: 1 | (Drafted 1 by Washington)

John Wall showed that he can dominate a game when he leads the Wizards win against the Celtics. Wall had 32 points, 9 rebounds, 12 assists and 6 steals. Now fans want to see this kid in the Allstar game.

2. Blake Griffin, PF, LA Clippers
14.6 PPG, 10.7 RPG, 1.0 APG, 1.0 SPG, 0.2 BPG, .495 FG%, .000 3P%, .599 FT%, 33.7 MPG

Last Month: 2 | (Drafted 1 by Clippers 2009 draft)

Starting to get used with the games pace. Griffin had his best game in the season this month against Portland. He finished the game with 32 points and 15 rebounds. He followed that game with 4 straight double-doubles.

3. Evan Turner, SG, Philadelphia 76ers
8.1 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 2.5 APG, 0.8 SPG, 0.6 BPG, .422 FG%, .200 3P%, .773 FT%, 21.9 MPG

Last Month: 4 | (Drafted 2 by Philadelphia)

Turner is now a candidate for the sixthman of the year award. He had 5 straight 10+ points off the bench including a triple double against the Utah Jazz in only 22 minutes of playing time.

4. Wesley Johnson, SF, Minnesota Timberwolves
10.8 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 2.1 APG, 0.9 SPG, 1.0 BPG, .427 FG%, .291 3P%, .574 FT%, 33.0 MPG

Last Month: 3 | (Drafted 4 by Minnesota)

Hit the rookie wall hard, for the last 8 games he failed to scored in double digits but he did averaged 8 boards and 2 blocks in those games.

5. Al-Farouq Aminu, SF, LA Clippers
7.2 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 0.9 APG, 0.9 SPG, 0.8 BPG, .429 FG%, .400 3P%, .698 FT%, 31.7 MPG

Last Month: N/A | (Drafted 8 by Clippers)

Aminu stats might not be that good but keeps his job done. The guy who is doing all the dirty work for the Clippers already had two 11+ rebounds in 7 games.

Great recaps man, I love when I get lost reading updates in peoples story and I often do in yours. If you have trouble rebounding in games, what I do is lower the computers rebounding attributes down to 30 and raise mine to 100. You can play with it depending on you, but for me it works great. I still get out rebounded by teams that should, but if I have a player that is supposed to get more than 10 rebounds he does.

George7, Of course I will try my best for Kobe to look dominant
Agent420, Thanks for the advice, but I'm not really keen on changing the sliders. It's hard to average double digit rebound when you got Bynum,Odom,Gasol, even Artest and Bryant can get rebounds for me.

Knicks-Lakers notebook

Posted February 11,2011

THE FACTS: After the 37 points performance against the Boston Celtics Kobe Bryant got some help from his teammates tonight against the New York Knicks. Bryant led his team with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists while Ron Artest had 16 points, 5 boards and 5 assists. Pau Gasol had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds while Shannon Brown added 16 points off the bench.

Amare Stoudemire had a game high 30 points and 12 rebounds but it wasn't enough as his teammates struggles in the Lakers defense.

TURNING POINT: It seems like the fourth quarter is a comfortable spot for the Lakers as they really turn on their game. They hold the Knicks to just 15 points while scoring 31 points in that quarter.

HOT: Artest threepoint shooting has improve in these couple of games. Tonight he nailed 3 shots in 5 attempts.

NOT: Only Stoudemire had scored in double digit and the rest of his teammates failed to contribute in the offense. Kelena Azubuike had 9 points in 4-11 shooting while Raymond Felton had 7 points in 2-9 shooting. The Knicks shot 41% from the field.

NOTABLE: The Knicks has 5 players injured, Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari, and Timothy Mozgov are unable to play while Anthony Randolph and Tony Douglas are playing despite an injury. Douglas only got injured midway to the fourth quarter because of a hard foul by Lamar Odom that got Ronny Turiaf upset causing both players tangled up, both players got a technical foul.

Kobe the only Lakers to play in the Allstar Game

Kobe Bryant will be starting in the Allstar game for being the top vote getter but sadly his teammates will not be playing in the event. Even though the host city is Los Angeles the fans or the coaches didn't choose another Lakers player. Maybe the deciding factor is the inconsistency of the other players.

"Maybe I'll do both Lamar and Pau's work in the game. I'm going to make sure its going to be an entertaining night for the fans." Bryant said.

Here is the complete Allstar roster

Image

Notable Snubs:
West: Jason Kidd (DAL) - 9.1 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 11.5 apg, 2.0 spg, 7 triple-doubles | Pau Gasol (LAL) - 17.9 ppg, 8.9 rpg | Zach Randolph (MEM) - 18.3 ppg, 10.2 rpg

East: Joe Johnson (ATL) - 22.9 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 4.6 apg | Chris Bosh (MIA) - 20.7 ppg, 7.1 rpg | Antawn Jamison (CLE) - 24.3 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 1.3 spg

Wall and Griffin stars in the Rookie Challenge

John Wall is currently the favorite in winning the ROY award but Blake Griffin is right there in the race for now those two need to be teammates to get their team the win. They will be joined by Demarcus Cousins, Landry Fields, Derrick Favors, Eric Bledsoe, Omer Asik, Wesley Johnson, Ekpe Udoh and Evan Turner.

While the Sophomores are led by Stephen Curry and Terrence Williams, they will be without the service of Tyreke Evans and James Harden but they have been replace by Serge Ibaka and Byron Mullens. The team also have Dejuan Blair, Taj Gibson, Marcus Thornton, Darren Collison, Tyler Hansbrough and Brandon Jennings.

Allstar Saturday Participants

Paul Pierce will defend his crown against Ray Allen, Kevin Durant, Matt Bonner, Dorell Wright and Steve Blake in the Foot Locker 3-Point Contest.

In the Sprite Slam Dunk contest we will see Blake Griffin takes on JaVale Mcgee, DeMar DeRozan and Lebron James.

Blake vs LeBron

i can see it now...

for LeBron's final dunk....he can't decide

he calls ESPN to air a special during the contest, "The Dunk Decision"

while this is going one....Baron lobs the ball off of LeBron's head and Blake catches it in the air and jumps over LeBron for the dunk!!

the judges are forced to give him 100's each for a record 500 points. LeBron then sings "Like a good neighbor, State farm is here!....with retirement papers... "
