Another win. I won't ride the Bayless bandwagon because I dont like him that much. Still 10-2, decent (Y)

That's the intention since the beginning. Never liked Blake, but he has had some good games. The plan is starting Jerryd asap. :)

He's the point guard of the future, man :) 10-2, more than decent! Simulation has helped a lot.

Vote in poll guys, please! Running until Friday.

Uprise [11-2] :: Brandon, LaMarcus sneak past Pistons

Thierry's Blog: Brandon, LaMarcus sneak past Pistons
TrailBlazers.com | November 18th, 2009

There was no wild celebration in the our locker room. There were just some handshakes, high fives, and a few mild fist pumps. The bus ride to the airport, almost quieter than usual. During our late-night flight, the team watched our TV broadcast of the game, and ate dinner. Several times I walked toward the back of the plane, and you really wouldn't have known if the Trail Blazers had just won or lost. The maturity and poise we saw on the floor Wednesday night, continued long into the night. I'm not sure you could have drawn up a better start for the Trail Blazers. We talked in the pre-game show about how difficult it could be for a young team like us, to open the season with this 13 games. I gotta say, the table was certainly set for us to be intimidated, nervous, and overwhelmed. I grabbed Brandon for the TV interview immediately following the game, and he was thrilled, but composed. He acknowledged being very nervous before the game, but said things settled down for him quickly. Brandon's maturity, basketball IQ, and confidence, has already made him a leader on this team. Following the game, as expected, reporters gathered around Brandon and LaMarcus to get their thoughts. He's also a tremendous interview, and is very well liked by our press, obviously. Also interesting, people from Dime Magazine were at the shootaround and will do a piece on Brandon. They told me it will run in next week's issue. They were sitting down with Brandon as I left for lunch, and also plan an interview with me. Sweet! :mrgreen: Oh, video today, a special mix of the Blazers past, present and future... any real Blazers fan at heart, will surely see some tears drown; moments of joy, moments of sadness, moments from the 1977 championship.

Another thing I didn't mention earlier, and I deeply apologize for that, is that all Blazers, even me, participated in the Blazers “Make It Better” community campaign. They've been great events, like last Sunday night, at Harvest Dinner, an event the entire Blazers staff has committed to for 13 years. This is a very trying time for so many people and families in the area, in this community, that we recognize there is a lot we can do to lend an assist. I took all the pics here... general manager Nate McMillan and Spaniard Rudy served food and conversation to the people, Brandon dishing green beans along television analyst and close friend of mine, Mike Rice, making sarcastic comments, jokes and remarks, Greg also serving food with analyst Mike Barrett. My two cents: hunger continues to be a sobering issue here in Oregon. From what I read, there has been a significant increase in the number of emergency food boxes distributed in the state by the Oregon Food Bank, for the first time in four years, almost 40,000 more than last year. One of five Oregon children lives in a hunger insecure home, not knowing where their next meal will come from. That's why I will be forever thankful to the Blazers organization for this experience. A reminder that next home game, Saturday 21st against Minnesota, $2 bucks from every single-game ticket sold will go to the Portland Interscholastic League. Back to the flight to San Francisco, we didn't get settled in our hotel until about 3 am, which is not unusual. The team will practice today on the campus of Cal-Berkely, featuring an hour in the swimming pool, which is right next to the basketball court, right after shootaround, in an effort to loosen up any injury, and then we will get set for the game on Friday against Golden State.

Brandon showed that the Blazers can rebound and defend a little bit, especially when we have to, as where are known this season for our offense. Brandon scored 14 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter and pulled dished four assists as we showed some uncharacteristic grit, I must admit, in a 89-86 victory over the Detroit Pistons tonight. Steve made a clinching jumper in the closing seconds for us; we switched from a run-and-gun offense in the first half to a rough-and-tough in the second to regain a winning streak. We withstood a pair of comebacks in the fourth quarter by the Pistons. “They made a run at us tonight and hit some tough shots in the fourth quarter,” Rudy said. “I just think we kept our composure the whole game and executed our game plan to the fullest.” Leading the way was Brandon, who played all but 7 minutes. He set an early tone with his defense and leadership, and provided an offensive spark down the stretch after we had lost an 13-point lead. “I got involved early tonight and got it going,” Brandon said. “I started things off and I think everybody came hard after me.” We had missed six straight 3-pointers and trailed, 80-77, when Brandon tied it with his only shot from behind the arc with 2:58 left. Brandon was 0-of-4 from 3-point territory at that point.

Two free throws apiece by LaMarcus and Greg built the lead to 84-81 before Lamar blew past Ben Wallace, threw in a scoop shot and drew a foul. His free throw made it 87-81 with 49 seconds to play. “It was just a big bucket,” Lamar said with humbleness. “We needed it to win.” Detroit closed to 87-86 on a three-point play by Tayshaun Prince and two free throws by Rodney Stuckey. With 15 seconds remaining, they opted to play defense and were burned when Steve made a step-back 15-footer from the left wing. “That was a lucky shot,” Steve said. “I got one to go and it was great timing for us.” Ben Gordon, who had shot the Pistons back into the game early in the final period, missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer. “I had a decent look. I just didn't make it,” he said. Gordon finished with a team-high 23 points from the bench, scoring in place of Richard Hamilton, who was limited to only 9 by Brandon. LaMarcus had a nice double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds and Steve added 8 and 10 assists for us; a coincidence, both teams shot 44 percent (32-of-86), but the Pistons had 39 bench points and we posted 22.

Personal analysis. Roy was fabulous, and he continues to be the leader of this squad. LaMarcus was also very solid, and backed up all those claims I've been making about him for the past months (best shape of his career, dedicated, out to prove something, contract year, etc.). But, here's a fact. The Blazers don't win the game if Steve or Jerryd don't come to the rescue at the end. As I said, he only had 8 and 10, but he was phenominal, and totally turned the tide with picks and plays. He keyed one of our runs, this one 14-2, that not only got us back into the game, but got the rest of the guys believing. He also nailed some huge shots down the stretch, when Detroit was threatening to pull away for good. Now, Rudy, ended with 12 points, on 4 of 6 shooting, but, 4 of 5 from the beyond the arc, in just 12 minutes. That's what you need off the bench. He came into the game firing, and willing to put the team on his back, and we get the win. LaMarcus was doubled every time he touched the ball, as usual. He started the game 1-for-5, and was struggling, but he kept his head, and the shots started to fall. When they didn't, he usually got to the foul line. I have been harping on Grapevine to get in the low post and stay there. All his shots were down in the paint, where you need two healthy knees to handle the punishment that's delivered.

Portland Trail Blazers: Past, Present, and Future.

Next game: Matchup with Golden State at the Oracle Arena this Friday. All our 82 games will be broadcast on the Trail Blazers Broadcasting flagship station, 95.5 FM The Game. Brian Wheeler, in his 12th season calling the play-by-play, and analyst Antonio Harvey, in his fifth season, will call the games, home and away. On television, KGW-TV and Comcast SportsNet will air a total of 75 Trail Blazers games with veteran analyst Mike Rice, in his fifth full season on television after spending the previous 15 years on the radio, and Mike Barrett, in his seventh, calling the action. Between KGW, Comcast SportsNet, TNT, ESPN and ABC, all 82 games will be televised for the third year in a row, and the third time in franchise history. In addition, all games will be available in High-Definition. The Warriors were considered the surprise of the season when they started 5-1, but after that they have lost four of their last five, now sitting at 6-5, featuring recent acquisitions, former Bulls Kirk Hinrich and Joakim Noah. History against them:

• We are 112-80 all-time, a whooping 74-21 at Rose Garden but, down 59-38 on the road;
• Golden State won last season’s series, 2-1, with the home team winning all three contests. The home team has won seven straight games in the series, including three in a row by the Trail Blazers at home. The Warriors have won eight straight games in Oakland and 12 of the last 16 meetings in the series overall. We last won the series, a 4-0 sweep, in 2002-03;
• Brandon led the team with 26.0 points (29-50 FG, 6-9 3-PT), 5.3 assists and 2.67 steals (tied) in three matchups with the Warriors last season, while Greg led all players in the series with 9.7 rebounds to go with 13.3 points (16-25 FG, 64.0%) in three games;
Corey Maggette (23.0, now playing for the Chicago Bulls), Stephen Jackson (20.0) and Monta Ellis (20.0) each averaged 20-plus points in their appearances against us a season ago;
• Warriors coach Don Nelson is 18 wins away from becoming the all-time winningest coach in NBA history. In his 31st season as an NBA head coach, he currently has 1,315 victories.

Good god, it must take ages to make these recaps. A whole lotta writing with all this campaign stuff etc.
I don't think it's necessary though as most guys are more interested in your dynasty and how it is running.
11-2 ... just flowing. I don't see any reason for this trade just because everything is flawless right now.
Further, the Celtics just acquired Daniels (whom I like very much in the game!) and how can House be more effective than Blake?
Don't do it. Veto! :)

It takes around 2 hours (play the game [I only play 1 quarter in simulated games to take the pics], then the boxscores, the next game previews, write the recap), but it's the layout I like the most from ALL my dynasties / associations. :mrgreen:

My two cents (anyway, I will do what the poll ends up showing... I won't do it right now, I might do it close to the trade deadline, or around mid January).

1) I really like Daniels :P
2) House isn't more effective than Blake; the point is moving Bayless to the starting lineup and House to the PG backup spot.
3) With the rise of Webster in the last games, and Outlaw and Rudy already playing, Batum has played in only 1, 2 at tops, games of the 13 :o

The trade makes no sense, especially since Blake is a back-up caliber PG and you are 11-2. Put Bayless in the starting 5 anyway, and have Blake be the backup.

    Blazers make it official: waive Howard
    TrailBlazers.com | November 19th, 2009

    PORTLAND - The Portland Trail Blazers have waived forward Juwan Howard, it was announced on Thursday. Howard was signed with the Blazers as a free agent on September 17.

    Howard, a 6-9 forward out of Michigan, spent last season playing for the Denver Nuggets, where he played 3 games, and with the Charlotte Bobcats, in 39 contests. In 42 total games, Howard averaged 4.1 points, 1.8 rebounds, 0.6 assists and 11.2 minutes in 2008-09. He reached double figures in scoring five times. The Chicago, Ill., native has appeared in the NBA Playoffs four times, averaging 9.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 23 games.

    Howard averaged 17 points or more and seven-plus rebounds in each of his first five seasons in the league. He has tallied 188 career double-doubles. Prior to his stint in Denver and Charlotte, he played for Washington, Dallas, a previous stint with the Nuggets, Orlando and Houston.

    A member of the “Fab Five” at the University of Michigan, Howard was named Third Team All-American in 1994 after averaging 20.8 points and 9.0 rebounds in his junior season. Howard then entered the NBA Draft, becoming the first NBA player to leave school early and graduate on time.

2K10 doesn't count Miles' contract against you, so just sign the highest rated FA. I remember in 2K6 and 2K7 always signing Sprewell and trading his 81 overall. Another option: don't trade.

The highest rated player were Miller (Spurs), Wally (Hawks) and Stack (Knicks), all got signed... don't remember right now the available FAs... I'm also thinking in not trading until the offseason. If I get there, of course. Don't jinx me guys. :mrgreen:

That would be cheating :twisted: You should sign Miles, edit his salary to what is owed & then waive him :wink:

As much as I get a raging boner for Marquis Daniels everytime he sets himself on the court, I can't see logically how the move would pan out. House is an upgrade over Blake in terms of three point shooting, but he also is Roy's butt buddy and is still not too shabby of a shooter himself. The Blazers lack shooting, but getting rid of Batum who has the potential to be a solid spot up shooter from three for a guy that cant hit anything outside of 18 feet is not very feasible in my opinion.

For me do the trade, you too many forwards in your team Outlaw,Webster,Fernandez and Roy can play 3, if you plan to win now its okay to trade Batum, Daniels is a good defensive player and plus you will get House who is deadly shooter. Those two can be a major upgrade in your team but that's just me it's your decision man.

As I said, I'll do what the poll ends up saying on Friday. But I won't do the trade now, might do it by January or by trade deadline.

Two things. 1) I was gonna post the Warriors recap but then YouTube deleted my video because I used a song with copyright (Afrika Bambaataa's Planet Rock)... :evil:
2) I was bored and re-uploaded all the pics that were down from previous recaps. Saving them for posterity (HOF?)
