Indianapolis,IN--With the sudden retirement of backup big Jeff Foster, the Indiana Pacers hit the free agent wire right before the start of the preseason tonight and signed the much maligned Boris Diaw to a veteran's minimum deal of $1.2M for the remainder of the season. Boris last played with the Charlotte Bobcats and was bought out of his contract after his poor play last season. During much of last season Diaw was overweight and looked to have lost his passion for basketball, but after going home to France over the summer and working to get back into shape, he is poised and ready to, "contribute in anyway possible" Diaw said. "I want to show that I have more left to give and that I still care about the game and want to win. The Pacers were almost like the perfect sign that I was meant to play again and I think we we'll do very good this season".
Free agent Tracy McGrady is being tracked closely by Cleveland Cavaliers management as a backup shooting guard and a veteran calming voice to the young team led by Kyrie Irving. McGrady is currently still training in Chicago with trainer Tim Grover getting prepared to workout for teams considering offering him a contract.
