[8-0] Houston Rockets 102-108 New York Knicks [6-4]
Scola drives in on Amar'e | Do you know of anyone who's posterized Yao AND Scola?
This game was all Knicks. The Rockets did not lead by more than five, and throughout the whole second and third quarter, the Knicks had complete control. A hot shooting night from Wilson Chandler in the first half was what led to such dominance, but the Rockets' defense managed to cool him down in the second half. However, strong games from Amar'e Stoudemire, Danilo Gallinari, and Landry Fields made up for that, as the Rockets get handed their first defeat of the season. "It's a tough loss. A shame we couldn't keep this hot start going. Had to happen eventually though, but we're just movin' on and we're gonna continue to play basketball," said Kevin Martin who scored a season high 31 points.Player of the Game-

LOL Deng lol'd at us from deep. | Rose's attention in the paint allowed him to dish out to open teammates.
Courtney Lee sent that dunk into the stands! | Arguably the two fastest players in the NBA.
The story of the game: Tom Thibodeau's suffocating defense. It appeared to be a little too much for the Rockets up until the fourth quarter. The Rockets trailed 49-44 at halftime, but started the second half on a 10-0 run, regaining the lead. They relinquished it midway through the third quarter though, and once again Thibb's hard-nosed defensive pressure seemed to be doing the trick. Luol Deng had the hot-hand in the first half, going 4/7 from the third dimension, but was shut down in the second half. If there's anyone who should be credited for this win it's Kevin Martin. You normally don't hear this, but he contested shots on every defensive possession, and contributed to the shutting down of Luol Deng. He also notched a surprising double-double of 25 points and 11 boards; he was definitely all over the place.
Former Bulls player Brad Miller was also key in the come back during the fourth quarter. He scored 11 points, eight of them coming in the final period. Also, what led to the Bulls' defeat, was the injury to Ronnie Brewer, who had the hot hand prior to his injury. Shane Battier fouled him on a layup attempt, breaking Brewer's wrist in the process. He's expected to miss 4-6 weeks. The Rockets had the hot-hand in the fourth, and closed the game out with clutch free-throw shooting. "This was easily the hardest game we've played all season. Give credit to the Bulls' defense, if it weren't for the hot-shooting in the fourth, this would've been our second loss of the season," said head coach Rick Adelman. The Rockets' ability to get to the foul line was a huge counter towards the Bulls' stingy defense.
Both teams had an excellent game defensively; the Rockets won the block party 8-7, but the Bulls committed more robberies at 11-9.Player of the Game-

1 of 30 of Durant's dunks of the game. | Westbrook's assists numbers benefited from KD's hot game.
Brad Miller was able to provide big in Yao's absence. | The clutch three to force OT.
This game had to be decided with an extra period. The Rockets trailed for the vast majority of the second half; they were up 43-42 at halftime. In the second half though, the Thunder came out strong, and gained the lead, which eventually ballooned to 14 during the third quarter. In the fourth quarter though, the Rockets fused a comeback. After a three-pointer by Jeff Green with a minute left to play, the score was 102-98. Aaron Brooks hit a three-pointer to bring the Rockets within one. After fouling Russell Westbrook, he made both free throws, putting the Thunder up 104-101. Then, at the other end, Kevin Martin scored another three-pointer to tie the game. With 0.9 seconds left, Kevin Durant fired a three out of a timeout, but Shane Battier blocked it.
The 24-14 turnover deficit really hurt the Rockets this game, and the Thunder had a whooping 20 steals compared to the six by the Rockets. Most of those turnovers led to a dunk by Kevin Durant on a fast break. Oh, did I mention he scored 49 points on us! Yes, coming off a 50-point game against the Jazz. The Thunder were able to shut down the Rockets in overtime, and ended the game on clutch free-throw shooting. "It was a real pain to see the team play that way, but despite that, we almost stole a win, and that's what was important," said Yao Ming, who didn't play as this was the second game of a back-to-back.Player of the Game-

[9-2] Houston Rockets 105-88 Toronto Raptors [2-10]
No, it doesn't come close to coming close. | No defensive pressure? Easy game.
There is only one thing the Raptors proved this game, that they lack defense. They only forced two turnovers from the Rockets all game. The Rockets led by 28 at one point, but in the fourth quarter, the Raptors got the lead down to a respectable margin. Notable is that Kyle Lowry had to play through an inflamed elbow, therefore giving more minutes to Aaron Brooks. Brooks struggled from the field, but dished out a career high 15 assists.
The Rockets now head back home to host the Suns, then the Warriors before heading out east to take on the Bobcats.Player of the Game-

The Plan
"Sit down, Mr. Gomez," said Leslie Alexander to Axel, welcoming him into his office. Axel was hungover from the night before, and only got to sleep for five hours.
"Thank you very much, sir," replied Axel, sounding like he hadn't heard a single word that was told to him; he wasn't looking in his boss's direction. "Are you okay?" asked Alexander. "Sure. Just a bit too sleepy from last night," Axel said again. He sat down, after ten seconds of not being able to place a chair in the right place. "So, you have the evidence?" asked Alexander in a business-like tone. "Yes, got it right here," Axel pulled out some papers from his pocket.
Alexander read them thouroughly, turning on his desk lamp to take a good look at them. Axel was bothered by the light, and said, "Can't you turn that off?"
Alexander ignored him. After about a few minutes, Alexander said, "I see. Memos. Don't you think this is enough to bring David Stern to justice?"
"Huh? What?" Axel asked surprised. "I said if this would be enough to bring Stern to justice!" Alexander said, raising his voice. Axel was startled, and said, "No. There still has to be confirmation that he indeed rigged the league," Axel said. "You got anything to drink?" he added.
"There's a water dispenser down the hallway. Why?" Alexander asked. "Nothing, I'm extra thirsty for some reason," Axel replied. "Are you drunk, Mr. Gomez? It seems to me you're having a hard time paying attention, and you're acting very strange," Alexander said suspiciously.
"No." Axel said. "Admit it, or you're fired," demanded Alexander. "Don't lie to your boss."
"Okay, fine, I am hungover from last night," Axel said. "After you gave me the job yesterday, I couldn't resist going to a club to celebrate."
"I'll let this one slide. Next time you show up drunk or hungover to work, you're fired. Understand?" Alexander said sternly. "Yes sir," Axel replied. "I could just go bother the Spurs, though."
Alexander ignored Axel's statement, and got back on topic. "So, do you have anymore evidence?" he asked. "No, this is it. If we can just get into Stern's office and find something that confirms he's rigged the league before, a reply to those memos or sum" Axel replied.
"How exactly would we do that? We can't just go up to him and ask if he's rigging the league. What do you have in mind?" Alexander asked. "I was thinking to have him drink a bunch of wine or some alcoholic beverage," Axel replied.
"OK, being drunk also tampers with your thinking, Mr. Gomez, how can you think of alcohol in a time like this, especially when you're hungover? How is giving him an alcoholic beverage going to help?" Alexander asked, thinking Axel had more than just drank the night before.
"Alcohol can sometimes make you speak the truth. If we give him some to get him a little drunk, and question him, he can hopefully give us what we need. We'll need to have something to record the conversation, though. Also, with the Heat and Lakers being the two favorites to win the NBA championship, I imagine he'll rig all of the games in the playoffs to have them meet in the Finals," Axel said.
"Gomez, you... are... a... genius!" Alexander randomly exclaimed out of nowhere. "But why would he want the Heat and Lakers in the Finals? Isn't he a New Yorker? Why wouldn't he just rig games for the Knicks? Especially now since they are actually a legitimate topic?" Alexander asked.
"One word. Money. The ratings will definitely go up on television, with those two teams being in cities with big metropolitan markets, and with the three best players in the same Finals series, that's a pwning recipe for generating money. David Stern is as greedy as he is fat, and money is why he's likely going to do this, rig the league," Axel said.
"New York also has a big market, in fact the biggest in the country, so why not an LA-New York Finals?" Alexander asked, puzzled. "Nobody is really expecting the Knicks to get as far as the Finals, it would seem suspicious, and their only superstar is Amar'e Stoudemire. I think people would much prefer to see a series that contains Kobe, LeBron, Dwyane Wade, Pau Gasol, Chris Bosh and others. All that talent, for at least four games is bound to raise heaps of money," Axel said.
"For a 22-year old, you surprise me how much you know about this. I hope what you're doing is right. So, what's the plan?" Alexander asked. "Now, I don't know if he really is going to do this, but it's a big suspicion I have. To formulate a plan though, I need to get a drink of water," Axel went to the water dispenser, took a cup, and poured water in it. He took a huge gulp, then came back to the owner's office.
"So, here's what I have in mind..."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back in NBA headquarters, David Stern was in his office, looking out the window. "This should be a BIG NBA season," he thought to himself. He raised his glass of wine that he was drinking, "Here's to a Heat-Lakers Finals that should bring in the big dough this season," he thought, and drank his wine.
[10-2] Houston Rockets 111-101 Phoenix Suns [5-6]
Kevin Martin continues to tear defenses apart! | It turns out Steve Nash is also a pest in 2K.
This was a pretty easy game for the Rockets. They cruised with a double-digit lead through most of the game. This was due to a bad three-point shooting night from everyone but Steve Nash, who was 2/5 from range. He had a game-high 35 points, despite the loss. Nash was instrumental to the fourth quarter scare that the Rockets were given. He managed to get the margin down to four with about four minutes left in the game, 92-96. However, Kevin Martin helped to pull away, coming through once again in the clutch.
Yao Ming notched his first double-double of the season, in just 24 minutes. He had 15 points and 10 boards, with an added 5 blocks. The Rockets had 16 turnovers compared to four by the Suns. They also only had three steals compared to 12 for the Suns. However, the Rockets went 10/15 from downtown, compared to the miserable 2/11 from the Suns.Player of the Game-

Great games from these two guys was crucial to the comeback of the Bobcats.
Kevin Martin seemed to be the only one who was not comfortable with a double-digit lead | This was easily Scola's best game.
The Rockets started out hot in this game; they had a 13-point lead at one point in the second quarter. In the second half, the Bobcats came out strong, however. They shot 53% in the second half, compared to the Rockets' 45%. The Bobcats regained the lead at the 4:17 mark in the fourth quarter, and never looked back. Thanks to Gerald Wallace and Stephen Jackson's surge. The Bobcats closed the game out with clutch free throws, but they were having trouble making them all game.
Luis Scola had season highs of 21 points and 12 rebounds, whilst Kevin Martin continued his efficiency, scoring 33 points on only 14 shot attempts.
