Re: X's Bucks Dynasty (6-8) *2 GAMES plus RANDOMNESS*

Sun Dec 27, 2009 10:33 pm

Hey guys,

Played another 2 games (went 1-1 against Jazz & Hawks). Can't be bothered with line of day at the mo, so just updated the blogs. You can check them out below at:

Image

Aside from that, Lamrock will be happy to hear that Warriors' SF Corey Maggette broke his patella & is out for the season. Celtics are on a 9 game win streak, but still trail the hot Hawks. After starting the season a terrible 1-6 & trying to trade Artest for Love (which I vetoed), they have won 4 out of last 6 games to move to 5-8 overall. Overall I'm not too disappointed with where teams are sitting on the standings. Obviously I'd like to see teams like Suns, Lakers, Cavs move up & Bulls, Nets move down, but not looking too bad considering its a 29 game season format.

As for Bucks, Redd is starting to find his shooting touch....finally. Jennings is playing very well also. Ridnour and Warrick seem to both be starting to find their feet too, which is good. Bogut has struggled offensively since coming back from injury, but hopefully I can get more out of him. Am considering moving from 10 minute quarters (was originally 9 minute quarters) to 11 minute quarters since my played game scores are mostly in the 90's, but will stick with 10 minute ones for now and see how it goes.

If you are wondering about anything else going on, please ask away.

X, are all the stats auto-sent to that blog thing? man that is slick. i like it and wish this website could support dynasty tools like that

was worried for a sec; i thought you picked up the 'Stache. Jones is decent so good move on your end (Y)

lol@GSWs who just can't seem to get a break no matter if it's RL or virtual

How's Delfino doing, X? (I mean, before the injury) :)

Tough loss against the Hawks, but it was expected. Are you considering any deadline deals? It would suck to miss out on a playoff spot because of the Nets. :P

Btw I did not comment on the Thomas trade. It's kind of funny how in his prime he would be the key player for you boxing out and hustling. I remember Thomas grabbing tons of rebounds despite being undersized in his days with the Knicks. I guess he was just too old.
Jones is nothing special. He can help you pouring in an occasional three every now and then but most importantly his contract runs out.

Yep, I can send the boxscores, Association standings, player stats, pics & videos from the game to 2k website. It's just a case of linking gamertag with 2k account that you can set up. Would be good if NLSC supported it & someone built one. Kind of like a Live GMC project on 'roids.

Yep, Jones is solid move. All I'm hoping for is he can help me win the occasional game.

Thierry. wrote:How's Delfino doing, X? (I mean, before the injury) :)

You can easily check out my blog and click on the Player Stats tab. Okay, just checked, sorry about that. It appears that only shows the active roster's player stats. Either way, Delfino has been pretty ordinary, averaging only about 6ppg on 35% FG & 25% 3Pt. He's struggled. I like him IRL so I hope he can find his rhythm.

Yep, my Bucks in this Association are almost a carbon copy of the real life Bucks, hovering not far below .500 after dropping numerous close games. But yes, don't want the Nets taking my playoff spot

As for deadline deals, I dunno. I'm starting to find my feet with Michael Redd now. I'm running out of time to work out what I'm going to do though, which sucks. Every player on roster has given me something & then nothing. I honestly don't know what direction I want to go :(

Thomas was actually still helping in the game, but wanted to get a little more versatile. Jones & Thomas had similar contracts that expired so no biggie. I essentially swapped expiring contracts & picked up another 2nd Round pick.

In other league news, the Phoenix Suns fired Alvin Gentry after their poor 3-7 start. They hired some chump called Malcolm Leach & are now 1-0 since he took over.

Hey guys,

Knocked over another 3 games (went a disappointing 1-2 against Grizzlies, Nets & Knicks). I blew the Grizzlies game, Nets was a blowout sim affair & I stole one in New York. Check the blog for further details:

Image

Also make sure to check out the current standings, you will note teams like Suns & Lakers have now recovered from their abysmal starts & looking pretty good to make the playoffs.

Thierry, I wasn't too far off with Delfino's stats, he's just shooting a little worse than I thought :(

Re: X's Bucks Dynasty (7-10)

Finally some breakout game by Redd. But the other two games were really bad losses. The Grizzlies game could also have been played by a guy named hova- as I drop games in which I lead by double digits frequently. The Nets are just too good in simmed games.
But you found your game back in NYC. Imho one of the toughest teams to play against if you do not have any dominator on offense. They suck on defense for sure, but not as much as a Stephen Jackson or Michael Redd could abuse them all the time. And on offense these guys can really get hot fast.

7-10 is not all too good. I don't think the Playoffs would be good for you anyway, since you would not be able to upset the Hawks, Magic or Cs whilst you definitely could need a lottery pick.

Re: X's Bucks Dynasty (7-10)

Yep, Knicks were just firing from the opening tipoff. Harrington & Chandler were just killing me from outside. I'm kind of glad the Knicks didn't play Gallinari too much as he was killing me too. Fortunately Bogut had height advantage & was able to have a good game & have control defensive boards. But it was definitely Redd who was the star tonight.

I definitely shouldn't have lost that game against Grizzlies. Bogut had a shocker, went like 4-18 from the field & Marc Gasol dominated him. But like the Knicks, the Griz were pretty hard to stop. Mayo was on fire!!! And I just didn't keep my composure. Whereas in the Knicks' game, I went from down 2 to down 12 in 2-3 minutes (happens against the Knicks) & I could've lost it, but thought I'll try to play possession by possession & see what happens, & it worked :P

As for playoffs, since I play a 3-3-3-5 playoff format, a 1st Round upset is not beyond the realms of possibility, even if highly unlikely. Although I'm not looking too good to make it considering I've only got 12 games to go & I need to really go 8-4 to make it. Add to the fact that Brandon Jennings has just hurt his toe so he'll be a little less effective over next couple of games, it could be tough, but anything's possible.

Other thing I've now done is pumped up to 11 minute quarters. Game scored above 100 due to high octane Knicks running and gunning, but am keen to play other teams to see if scores are around/below 100. Am surprised with Playmakers sliders (adjusted to suit my style) are giving scores on almost full 12 minute quarters. Patch must've definitely helped in that regard.

Other news in dynasty is Pacers' guard Brandon Rush torn patella tendon & is out for the rest of the season. Really tough break for him considering he also torn his ACL & lost a year in college.

NBA 2k10's save game feature is my best friend. Wouldn't get through many games otherwise :P

Still have to experiment though to see if better than 10 minute quarters.

Thierry. wrote:Bogut's playing great, props for that. :)

Rebounding & defensively yes, offensively he's still struggling, missing a lot of makeable shots inside.

Yep, Jennings has been playing pretty solidly. Even when his shot is off (every 2nd game), he finds a way to help the team.

Valor wrote:nice win over the knicks...but i question some of the lineup adjustments....Joe Alexander at C? :? i know he has hops but come on...

It was only for 2 to 3 minutes, the Knicks were playing Jared Jeffries at centre & Andrew Bogut needed a rest. It's no different from Bargnani & Bonner at centre. It was just for matchup purposes. You must remember that the Knicks are a whole different ball game. I tried traditional lineups against them but their pick & pop was just killing me.

Re: X's Bucks Dynasty (7-10) *3 MORE GAMES ON 2K BLOG*

Actually I think it's not too bad to go small ball against the Knicks especially for defensive purposes. I played a game against the Bulls recently and they were runnin and gunnin. So I decided to play it small and only put Curry into the game when the Bulls had Miller and a rookie in the post. It's just to risky to put him in with Noah on PF as he can defend Curry very well and I don't get any defensive output from him anyway.

I really like to play around with my lineup lately. I did not do that in my recent years playing NBA games and I think it's important to adjust the lineup during the game in order to grab a win. Maybe 2k10 is the first game where it really makes a difference who's on the court and who not. But maybe I am just a bit late noticing it :)

James Jones actually played his best whilst at PF when matched up with gunner Al Harrington. Jones' versatility paid off since he's been crap in every other game I've played :P

He should profit from Jennings drive and kick game (if he has one) though. Just a one dimensional shooter. I would definitely recommend some PG plays to you like the motion isolation for example. I use it with Felton a lot. Gives you a screen from the PF on the left and allows you to drive to the hoop from the left block. Your SG stands in the left corner and most of the time his man will try to help out on D and you can hit him with a kick out. -> open shot for threeee

Hey all,

Suns' simmed game on 2k blog:

Image

Aside from that, Hawks (13-2) still rolling, Celtics (11-3) currently on a 10 game winning streak, Lakers (8-9) have won 6 out of their last 8 games & look poised to secure the Pacific Division title & top 4 seed by season's end. Cavs (7-8) are the main team I'm worried about, although now Lebron has shaked his nagging injuries, hopefully he can put them on his back & secure the Central Division title.

All-Star Weekend and trade deadlines are just around the corner, so who knows what else will happen.

Btw, Stef got $150 Myer vouchers. Any staff discounts at CBD one? Either way, I'll probably head down there & get a digital camera in a week's time since nothing else we want from there.
