Philadelphia cement championship credentials with trade
Eastern conference leaders Philadelphia made a big statement of intent today by acquiring all-star forward David Lee in a trade with Golden State.
Otto Porter and Draymond Green join also the 76ers, whilst Dorell Wright, James McAdoo, Spencer Hawes and a future first round pick go to the Warriors.
Golden State management took the decision to dump Lee's contract after their poor form made it apparent that their season was all but over already.
They recently re-signed Australian center Andrew Bogut and apparently felt that having Lee as well wasn't viable due to how the team is playing currently.
It seems that they now intend to go with a youth policy and adding McAdoo to a core of Curry, Thompson and Barnes gives them a really exciting future.
Wright and Hawes should provide them with solid role players off the bench. The draft pick could end up being handy as well depending on the draft class.
The Warriors are sitting second-bottom in the western conference at the moment with a 10-20 record. They'll hope that next season pans out much better.
Philadelphia add a potentially vital piece for their championship push with this trade. A scoring big man next to Bynum makes them a formidable team.
They now should prove a tough match-up for the likes of Miami and New York now. It also makes them compete with the bigger west teams now as well.
Combined with a backcourt that consists of talented young stars Stephen Curry and Evan Turner, this new-look frontcourt creates a formidable roster.
The 76ers currently lead the eastern conference with a 24-7 record. They finished second last season, but were dumped out in the first round by Boston.

In other news, they also signed recently acquired defensive specialist Thabo Sefolosha for two more years. The deal will earn him $1.50mWashington depth chart
