BILLUPS TO STAY IN NEW YORK
The New York Knicks originally declined Chauncey Billups' team option of $14.20M for next season, but both sides have agreed to a new contract to keep the veteran point guard in New York with a 2 year $14.07M deal.
Most were not surprised by the Knicks decision to decline Billups' team option in order to put the organization in somewhat better financial stability. But where the veteran would sign next was a mystery. Some sources believed Billups would re-sign with his hometown team, the Denver Nuggets who he was with before the big Melo Trade last season, and possibly finish his career there.
Billups told reporters that he felt he still has a lot to offer and is ready to lead the Knicks back to the Finals with his teammates Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire. He hoped that signing a smaller contract will help the organization acquire the right players to New York.
