Willie Lewis returning to LSU for his Senior Year
LSU star Willie Lewis announced that he was returning to Louisiana State University for his Senior year, withdrawing from the NBA draft.
This comes as a shock to many, especially to how Willie played this year, scoring 20 points or more in more than half of the games he played.
"I decided that it would be better for me to finish my degree, and accomplish the dream of taking LSU to the Final Four and winning it all. Many scouts had said I would have fallen to the second round, so I thought that helping LSU and myself for a career after basketball would be better than rotting on the bench. Trent Johnson has been a mentor to me, and I'm glad I made this decision."
Willie Lewis is expected to be the main focal point of Trent Johnson's offense for LSU.
"With Willie returning, I think our team has a chance to make the Final Four. We're stacked. Willie can also mentor our younger players. I'm already excited for the new season."
"All in all, I feel like this decision was the best." said Lewis.
"Sometimes staying that one extra year can help."
2011 NBA REGULAR SEASON AWARDSDerrick Rose Wins NBA Most Valuable Player Award
CHICAGO,IL-- Bulls guard Derrick Rose, was announced NBA's Most Valuable Player for the 2010-2011 Regular Season. Derrick Rose ,who will be 23 on next October, is officially the youngest player to win the NBA Most Valuable Player award, and surely a star who has the brightest of futures in the game.
"It's amazing. This is only my third year and I'm still learning things about the game, I'm still having careless turnovers, things like that. But to get MVP at 22 years old, it makes me want to push harder," said the always-modest Rose during a press conference at the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort.
Derrick Rose lead the Bulls to an impressive 48-10 record securing the top seed on the East and the best overall record, and was by far the most stable player in the league, as his stats in every single category remained in the same levels the entire season.
Derrick Rose Statistics: 25.4 Points Per Game, 2.5 Rebounds Per Game, 9.5 Assists Per Game, 2.7 Steals Per Game, 0.7 Blocks Per Game.
Reminded that the last Chicago Bulls' player that won the MVP award was team legend and Hall Of Famer, Michael Jordan, which Rose thanked, along with Scottie Pippen, for making the Bulls' fanbase as big as it is today.
Tom Thibodeau/George Koukoulis Selected As Coach Of the Year/Executive of The Year
CHICAGO,IL-- Three awards for the Chicago Bulls this season. After Derrick Rose winning the MVP, Coach Tom Thibodeau and GM George Koukoulis got an award as well.Thibodeau got selected as the Coach Of The Year, being no surprise, as he lead the team to a 48-10 record and his defensive and offensive job was just outstanding.
"After being here for a year, I realize how fortunate I am to be here," Thibodeau said. "It's a great city, great fans, great organization, great players, and if it meant waiting 20 years to get this job, it was well worth the wait."
On the other hand,Koukoulis, who got selected as the Executive Of The Year, didn't hesitate to make some solid moves in his tenure so far with the team, bringing many solid players like Allen Iverson,Tracy McGrady,Greg Monroe and Daequan Cook who have been important contributors to the successful season of the Bulls.
“I never hesitate to pull the trigger when it’s needed.”Koukoulis said” I’ll do everything to ensure that our team is going to get the best out of each deal and I’m really happy that the team is formed into a legitimate contender.” He added. “This award is only a little reward for my job,I feel really honored for this selection, but the ultimate satisfaction for me and for everyone who runs this organization is to bring the trophy back to Chicago!”
On a question about how he feels on his success as a manager in such a young age he said.”Well,it’s always nice to see the game from another angle. Last year I’ve won everything in Europe as a general manager and player in Olympiacos and I plan to do the same here . But I have to say again that I really miss playing competitively and when I’m healthy I might pursuit a playing career as well.”He added on a surprising statement.
