Veteran Free Agents Sign with New Teams
Posted: 8/1/2011 03:45:00 PM

NBA veterans Tayshaun Prince, Andrei Kirilenko and Andre Miller has decided to move on with their careers and sign with new teams.

Prince, a 10-year pro, signed a 2-year $9.23 million deal with the Atlanta Hawks. This signing bolsters the roster of Atlanta which already have the likes of Joe Johnson, Josh Smith and Al Horford.

Meanwhile, Pat Riley of the Miami Heat once again signed an elite role player for his team, as Russian swingman Andrei Kirilenko agreed to sign a 4-year $16.48 million contract.

"I'm thrilled to be a part of a very talented Heat team," Kirilenko said. "I feel that this is the best chance I have to get a crack at that NBA title."

The Boston Celtics weren't about to be left behind as they managed to pick up veteran floor general Andre Miller from the free agent pool. Miller will be the primary back-up of reigning league leader in assists, Rajon Rondo.

Carter Re-Signs with Phoenix
Posted: 6/27/2011 10:51:00 AM

After losing both Steve Nash and Grant Hill to retirement, the Suns can now heave a huge sigh of relief as Vince Carter decided to return to Phoenix after signing a 4-year deal worth $33.54 million.

"I never said that I wanted to leave Phoenix, I only wanted to get a longer deal," Carter said.

It's a totally different team that Carter is returning to. No Nash and no Hill, instead it will be Aaron Brooks and Jared Dudley that will be playing alongside him. At 34, VC is the oldest player in the roster and he needs to assume the role of a leader.

A role which haven't fit him since his early days in Toronto.

Rubio Finally Coming to the NBA?
Posted: 6/26/2011 01:19:00 PM

After nearly two years of “will he or won’t he” speculation we may finally be able to see Spanish sensation Ricky Rubio in the NBA. Rubio, who was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the 5th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, has been playing for FC Barcelona for the past two seasons. And more than once the 20-year-old point guard has threatened to just stay in Spain because he didn’t want to play in Minnesota.

Apparently something has changed in Rubio’s mind since his draft rights were traded to the Charlotte Bobcats last Thursday.

"Ricky is excited about the possibility of playing for his basketball idol Michael Jordan," his agent said. "We have a built-in buyout this summer in his current six-year contract with FC Barcelona, and we just might exercise that option."

Undrafted Rookie Still Hoping for a Crack at the NBA
Posted: 6/25/2011 01:23:00 PM

Sixty new faces may have come one step closer to their NBA dream last Thursday but like any other year, there will be players that will be left undrafted. They might not have been selected but it doesn't mean that their NBA dreams are over.

"I'm gonna work things out with my agent and play on a summer league team and maybe get a training camp invite," undrafted rookie Justin Harper said. "You look at Ben Wallace, Bruce Bowen and Brad Miller, they all went undrafted but they had a more successful NBA career than most first round picks. That's what I'm gonna try and duplicate."

Other notable undrafted rookies are Jamie Skeen (VCU), Gary Flowers (Southern Miss.), Justn Hurtt (Tulsa), E'twaun Moore (Purdue), Andrew Goudelock (Charleston), Jon Diebler (Ohio State), Matthew Bryan-Amaning (Washington) and Cam Long (George Mason). They are now free agents and can be signed by any NBA team.

The Rockets were RAPED by OKC. Certainly you can get more than Cole Aldrich for Scola and your first round pick. :shake:

Im freaking pissed off right now.. I might restart this.. I tried simulating the season and for some odd reason everytime I advance to the Hall of fame awardees at the end of the season the game crashes.. :turrible:

I'm still trying to fix it but I doubt I can since I only have the free version of reditor..

If ever I restart this, it will be the same storyline but the results will change and also the award winners.. Might make a new thread or just do it here...

Williams to Return, Brown Signs with Knicks
July 29, 2011

        Image

New York, NY -- The Knicks added two players to their roster; forward Shawne Williams and 2001 NBA Draft
1st overall pick, Kwame Brown.

Williams, who earlier opted to test the free agency waters, opted to re-sign a 1-year deal with New York
worth $2.90 million. He posted career-highs in both points and three-point percentage last season with an
average of 6.9 points and .416 3P% while appearing in all 82 games with New York.

Meanwhile, the 6-11 270-pound center Kwame Brown, will be joining his sixth NBA team. He averaged a mere
3.8 points and 4.0 boards last season but his big body and experience was the real reason the Knicks acquired
him.

"I would like to thank the Knicks management for giving me an opportunity to play for their wonderful
organization," the 11-year veteran said. "I'm really excited for next season."

The 29-year old, Glynn Academy product signed a 1-year $1.50 million deal with New York.

Williams will continue to wear the number 3 and Brown the number 54. The Knicks roster now stands at 13.

Young, Smith Joins T-Wolves
Posted: 8/14/2011 09:55:00 AM

Free agents Thaddeus Young and J.R. Smith both agreed to sign 4-year deals to come and play for the Minnesota Timberwolves next season. Young's contract will net him $41.03 million while Smith's is worth $38.15 million.

Young, who spent his first four years in the league as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers, has career averages of 12.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals.

Meanwhile, the enigmatic J.R. Smith posted 14.6 points and shot a career-high 42.3% from three-point region last season for the Nuggets. His instant offense will prove useful as he'll most probably be Minnesota's sixth man.

"Critics have always questioned my moves, especially when I traded Ricky Rubio on draft day," David Kahn said. "But you see, we have other plans in mind, like signing proven veterans to immediately help our team. And I think the recent acquisitions of Thaddeus and J.R. is a step in that direction."

T-Mac Hopes to Revive Career in Utah
Posted: 8/8/2011 01:19:00 PM

The seven-time All-Star have had to wait until August to finally sign a new free agent contract even after proving last year that his knees are healthy when he played all 82 regular season games for the first time in his career. It may have come in limited minutes but going through a full season means a lot to the two-time scoring champion.

And the rebuilding Utah Jazz took notice and decided to take a risk on the aging superstar by signing Tracy McGrady to a 4-year, $29.72 million deal yesterday.

"I have proven that I'm healthy enough to play, I'm not saying that I will be the T-Mac of old, I'm over that stage of my career," McGrady said in the press conference. "Right now, I know what my role is. And that is to be a leader and try to help the young guys, teach them a thing or two about this league."

As of now, no plans of trading Kwame. Will have to see how he does in the season.

I'm actually planning on starting him over Turiaf.. Ronny is better off the bench because of his energetic style of play.
