Bouncing back from a 3-1 deficit, you almost did it. Some huge games by Melo

Im fine with the results, since I wasn't really controlling the team. Next season will be the real test.

Melo averaging a double-double was very surprising. Too bad my big 3 didn't get enough help from the other players.

GOT TO BELIEVE IN MAGIC!

    Image

ORLANDO, FL -- The Magic made believers out of everyone when they finally got over the hump; finishing the San Antonio Spurs in 6 games on their way to their first NBA Championship.

Dwight Howard was just too much for the Spurs big men to handle. He averaged 19.3 points and 10.5 rebounds during the series, on his way to winning his first Bill Russell NBA Finals MVP award.

It was not an easy journey for the Magic; playing in 26 games in order to capture the elusive title.

Orlando squandered a 3-1 series lead against a resilient Knicks team in the opening round. They picked up the slack and demolished New York in the deciding Game 7, winning it by 29 points.

The East Semifinals was no different as the Boston Celtics led by the original Big 3 (Garnett, Pierce and Allen) also pushed them to the limit. But the Magic seemed to step it up a notch when it matters most, as they once again won their Game 7 decisively, 104-81.

They moved on to face the top seeded Miami Heat led by the infamous Big Three of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Orlando shocked the world by winning the first 2 games in Miami despite being the road team. The Heat would win games 3 and 5 but it was evident that Orlando already had this series in their back-pockets, led by the inspired play of PG Jameer Nelson.

The Magic franchise have reached the Finals twice since their arrival in the NBA in 1989. Their first trip to the Finals was during the Shaq-Penny era in 1995 where they were swept by the Houston Rockets. The second was in 2009 against Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers where they lost in 5 games.

"You just can't imagine how happy I am, this has got to be the greatest feeling in the world," Howard exclaimed. "We would definitely try and defend this title next season."

THE PLAYOFF TREE

    Image

    - The 7th seeded Denver Nuggets was the biggest surprise of the 2011 Playoffs. They eliminated the defending champion LA Lakers in the first round and the Portland Trail Blazers in the semis. Before losing to the San Antonio Spurs in 5 games.

    - Five playoffs series' went to the distance. With two of it involving the eventual champions, Orlando Magic.

    - The Chicago Bulls is the only team to sweep an opponent this postseason.

    New York City
    1:47 AM, Sunday

    BZZZZZ! BZZZZZZ! BZZZZZZZZ!

"What in the..." the man exclaimed as he was awakened by the vibrating IPhone under his pillows.

"Did I seriously dream of that Star Wars intro? I knew watching episodes I to VI the whole day was a bad idea," he said to himself.
    "Oh Shoot! my phone."

He sat up and quickly scrambled to find his phone.

"Ahem... uhmmm.. He-llo?" he asked while trying to clear his throat.
"Yeah, Z? this is Donnie. Sorry to call you in the middle of the night. Please come early tomorrow, we got something to discuss," the 70-year old man said.
"And wear your best suit, You'll be needing it son. I'll see you tomorrow, bye."
"Okay. I'll be there, sir," as he put the phone down.

Random thoughts began to crowd his head. What's so important about tomorrow that he needs to wear his best suit? And for Donnie to call that late just for that, was something wrong? Should he wear his best pants too? What if it was a wet suit that he was talking about? Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Did dinosaurs really exist?

So many questions but so little time.

But there's one question that bothered him the most.

"Was that really a STAR WARS intro?? REALLY???

    ....... REALLY???"

After minutes of analytical thinking, he dozed off and slept like a child.

BREAKING NEWS: WALSH GONE! RESURRECCION IN!
          May 2, 2011

    Image

New York, NY -- Donnie Walsh announced his retirement as the Knicks' President of basketball operations earlier
this morning that astonished everyone in attendance. It comes as a surprise after he helped New York reach the
          NBA Playoffs since 2004.

When Walsh arrived in 2008, he immediately rid the Knicks of expensive long term contracts for expiring ones
and gave them cap space to sign anyone from the heralded free agent class of 2010, which turned out to be
Amar'e Stoudemire. And in a blockbuster 12-player deal they landed Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups from
          the Denver Nuggets.

"I think it's time to step down and let the young ones run the show. I'm happy and content with what I've done for
this franchise and the city. It's about time I spend more time with my family. And come to think of it, I'm not
getting younger," a seemingly happy Walsh said.

Meanwhile, the Knicks also announced that Walsh's protégé Zoilo Resurreccion will take over as team president.
Resurreccion served as the Cavaliers G.M. during the 2007-08 season before coming to New York as part of Donnie
          Walsh
          's staff.

"I'm grateful for the chance and trust the management has given me. I'm looking forward to finishing the mission
Mr. Walsh has started and that is to continue the Knicks' progress in hopes of giving the city another shot at the
NBA championship," a delighted Resurreccion said who was wearing a jedi inspired suit he bought online.

"It's funny, I had a weird dream last night and thought that I should wear this. Looks awesome, right?" he said as
reporters tried to hide their laughters.

New York Knicks fans are hoping that Z can duplicate or even surpass Walsh's accomplishments. Things are
about to get busy for him as the 2011 NBA offseason has just started.

Raptors GM Hoping for the Luck of the Draw
Posted: 5/16/2011 08:24:00 AM

After signing a contract extension with Toronto, Bryan Colangelo is hoping that they could hit the jackpot in tomorrow night's draft lottery. Colangelo, whose pact was set to expire at the end of next month, has failed to reach the post-season in the last three years.

Last season the Raptors were at the bottom of the NBA standings with a 23-59 record, which gives them a 25% chance to notch the first pick of the 2011 draft.

"Securing that top pick will be crucial to our rebuilding process," Colangelo said. "After losing Chris Bosh to free agency last season, we really need a new face for our franchise."

George Karl Steps Down as Nuggets Head Coach
Posted: 5/15/2011 08:24:00 AM

In a press conference earlier today, George Karl announced that he will be retiring as Denver's head coach after seven successful seasons. He led Denver to 3 Division titles ('06.'09,'10) and reached the Western Conference Finals in 2009 before losing to then champions, Los Angeles Lakers. They again reached the conference finals last season but was eliminated by the Spurs in 5 games.

"I would like to thank all the players who've played for me, all the coaching staff I've worked with in the past and of course my family for sticking with me through thick and thin," an emotional Karl said. "I wouldn't have been successful at this if it weren't for all of you. Again, thank you very much."

In Karl 's 24 years, he has coached five different teams and won 1028 games becoming the 7th winningest coach in NBA history. He has also coached in four All-Star games.

Nuggets GM Masai Uijiri has said that they are now interviewing potential candidates to replace Karl as their head coach for the upcoming 2011-12 NBA season.

Kidd Mulling Retirement
Posted: 5/14/2011 11:10:00 PM

The 17-year veteran Jason Kidd of the Dallas Mavericks is reportedly considering retirement according to various sources. Jeff Schwartz, Kidd's agent, has said that he still hasn't talked to the ten-time All-star regarding the rumor.

"I've yet to talk to Jason about these issues, once everything is confirmed we'll be sure to let everyone know," Schwartz said in a telephone interview.

Kidd, a 10-time All-Star, won co-Rookie of the Year in 1995 and has led the league in assists on five different occasions. He has been in the NBA Finals twice but has yet to win an NBA championship.

Lamar Odom Unhappy in LA?
Posted: 4/30/2011 08:24:00 AM

Lakers forward Lamar Odom has been vocal about his role in Los Angeles and those concerns have escalated after the teams' early exit from the 2011 Playoffs. Despite averaging around 30 minutes a game, Odom's playing time has been up-and-down last season while playing behind Pau Gasol and Ron Artest.

"The coaching staff and I haven't really seen eye-to-eye this past year, I know I'm a starter, but obviously they just can't see that," Odom said. "If Pau hadn't gotten injured last March, I might not have started a single game last season. I love L.A.! it's a great city and all, but I'm just not sure this is where I want to be."

Odom's agent has been in talks with the Lakers management regarding possible trades.

Irving, Williams Leads New Crop of NBA Hopefuls
Posted: 4/16/2011 10:05:00 AM

Kyrie Irving entered Duke as a highly-touted freshman and made his mark early on the college basketball landscape. But as fate would have it, Irving suffered what appeared to be a relatively innocuous toe injury, only to discover later it was much more serious than anyone had originally thought.

Irving didn’t suit up again for three months up until the NCAA Tournament’s first round. A week after his return, he capped off his Duke career with a 28-point performance in a loss against Arizona.

An Arizona team which was led by the 6'8" 241 lbs forward, Derrick Williams, who is leaving the Wildcats after his sophomore season. Williams posted remarkable numbers last season, shooting 61.5% from the field and over 60% from beyond the arc. More importantly, he also showcased his ability to play defense and be a difference-maker during the NCAA tournament.

Both Irving and Williams are expected to go one right after the other in the upcoming draft.

Jackpot! Washington Wins Draft Lottery
Posted May 17 2011 8:30PM

SECAUCUS, NJ -- For the second consecutive year, the Wizards earned the right to choose the top pick of the draft. Just a season ago, they made John Wall the first pick of the 2010 NBA Draft, who then went on to win Rookie of the Year honors.

"The heavens have been really good to us; two in a row, if that ain't luck, I don't know what is," Wizards owner Ted Leonsis said.

Washington will have the first go in what experts believe to be one of the weakest drafts in recent memory. Notable college players who have declared for the draft include Duke's Kyrie Irving, Arizona's Derrick Williams, UConn's Kemba Walker, BYU hotshot Jimmer Fredette, Kentucky's Brandon Knight and Enes Kanter and also international prospects like Jan Vesely from Czech Republic and Lithuanian sensation Jonas Valanciunas.

The Toronto Raptors, who had the best chance (25%) to land the top selection will pick second, followed by the Cavaliers, Bobcats and Kings.

Following are the results from the 2011 NBA Draft Lottery, which was conducted this evening at NBA Entertainment's studio in Secaucus, N.J.

The first overall selection, which had a 2.80 percent chance of winning the NBA Draft Lottery, goes to the Washington Wizards in the 2011 NBA Draft, which will be held in Newark, N.J. at Prudential Center on Thursday, June 23, 2011.

They should go with Williams. I'd like that line-up with Wall, Young and Williams with 2 triple-double whores McGee and Blatche.
