As for Blazers, they are trying to pull off a big trade, which could help them get into play-offs

Around the league: Notable trades

Jefferson in Blazers uniform
Trail Blazers get: Richard Jefferson (12,1ppg; 4,6rpg; 2,5apg; 1,46spg; 1,27bpg)
Spurs get: Joel Przybilla (5,2ppg; 5,6rpg; 2,0apg; 0spg; 1,40bpg)
Portland Trail Blazers and San Antonio Spurs have agreed on a trade, which will send, Olympic bronze medallist in 2004, Richard Jefferson to Portland in exchange for the expiring contract of Joel Przybilla.
It seems that with this trade Spurs gives up on championship hopes with the current squad and goes into rebuilding mode. „I’m disappointed with this decision” said the Spurs best player Tim Duncan „I thought, that we had a chance (to compete for a championship) this year, but I guess the GM thought different” This is really bad news for San Antonio’s big three – many experts has said, that this is the last year for Duncan to get the rings, Ginobili isn’t getting younger too and Tony Parker most probably will go to a different team this summer, because his contract will expire and it’s highly doubtful, that Spurs will want to extend it.
Projected Line-up
Starters: C T.Duncan(92) PF D.Blair(75) SF J.Anderson(71) SG M.Ginobili(86) PG T.Parker(80)
Bench: PG G.Hill(76) C T.Splitter(74) SG A.Gee(70)
Grade for Spurs: C
As for Portland, this is a great way to shake up their roster after a disappointing first half of this season. „I’m excited, that Richard will join our squad” stated teams leader Brandon Roy „He is a great scorer and defender, I think he will help us a lot” Roy could be right, Portland needed another legitimate scorer, who could help Roy and with the addition of Jefferson they finally has it. Plus their starting five looks really scary now and if they manage to glue well they could show us big things this season. „At first, we have to get into play-offs” Andre Miller stayed realistic „Then we can start to think about something bigger”
Projected Line-up
Starters: C M.Camby(83) PF L.Aldridge(78) SF R.Jefferson(79) SG B.Roy(85) PG A.Miller(77)
Bench: C G.Oden(81) PG J.Bayless(73) SG R.Fernandez(73)
Grade for Trail Blazers: A-

Magic get: Josh Childress (4,8ppg; 2,4rpg; 0,6apg; 1,11spg; 0,77bpg)
Suns get: Marcin Gortat (3,6ppg; 3,6rpg; 0,8apg; 0,67spg; 0,64bpg)
Another trade happened this month with Josh Childress and Marcin Gortat swapping teams. This is a good trade for both of the teams, because they are improving their weak spots, by giving up players who didn’t get much playing time anyway.
It took about a half season for Magic to realise, that Quentin Richardson at starting SF spot just won’t work, now they hope it will work with Josh Childress. And it really could if Childress will manage to reduce his ambitions for the teams good. As a fourth or fifth option on the offence, he would be deadly. “It’s always a good feeling if this type of player joins your team” said Vince Carter after getting the news “I think Josh will help our team and I hope we can play better with him, than we had done till now”
Projected Line-up
Sterters: C D.Howard(93) PF R.Lewis(79) SF J.Childress(77) SG V.Carter(81) PG J.Nelson(75)
Bench: SF Q.Richardson(72) PF B.Bass(72) C K.Thomas(72)
Grade for Magic: B
Phoenix, on the other hand, had too much good players at SG/SF positions – Josh Childress couldn’t hope for much playing time behind Turkoglu, Richardson and Grant Hill. And they had a need for another big, because Robin Lopez was their only Center, so the acquisition of Gortat makes sense. “Gortat is great” stated Steve Nash “I think he didn’t get much chance to prove himself in Orlando, he will have that chance here” With the front court rotation of Lopez, Frye, Gortat and Warrick, Phoenix looks much better at getting a good play-off spot.
Projected Line-up
Starters: C R.Lopez(74) PF C.Frye(77) SF H.Turkoglu(82) SG J.Richardson(83) PG S.Nash(86)
Bench: SF G.Hill(79) PF H.Warrick(73) C M.Gortat(70)
Grade for Suns: B-

Chapter 2
It was another training session for Washington Wizards, and a day after one of the worst games this season, big loss against the Nets. Everybody was nervous and stressed up, in addition it was a pretty hard practice and everybody was in a bad mood already, when…
“Hey kid, get the fuck out of the way” Yi yelled at rookie guard Joe Crawford “Fuck off you big dumbass” he replied. Oberto, feeling, that this is going no where good, got in middle of them and said “Hey, hey, hey relax guys, you both are teammates, you shouldn’t yell like this at each other” Then head coach Flip Saunders got to the crime scene “I guess you two have too much energy into you. OK, eight fields for the whole team!” he said loudly, so that everyone would here.
This didn’t cheer up anybody; at the end of the practice Saunders made the team to play 5-on-5, he put Arenas and Wall in different teams, because, they can’t get along on court. As it turned out it was a big mistake, in one of the games Wall was trying to get past Arenas, who simply pushed the young player down on the floor. He was right up and ready to hit Arenas, but Young got in the middle “You have a problem little boy” he yelled at him. Wall pushed him aside and tried to get to Arenas, but couldn’t, because others were already getting in the middle of them. Saunders looked devastated and said everybody to go to the locker room, there after a little practice speech he quickly went to General Manager’s office.
“I can’t take this anymore” he said to Janis Kalnins “We need to trade Arenas. He can’t get along with Wall on and off the court.”
“I’ve said it earlier, we can’t trade him” Kalnins calmly replied.
“Then we have to trade… I don’t know Wall”
“Are you crazy? He’s the future of this franchise, I can’t let him go, but I can’t trade Arenas too, even if I wanted…”
“Don’t get me started, what does it mean ’even if I wanted’? Don’t tell me nobody would take him”
“He has a big contract…”
“Bullshit,” Saunders got louder “Just, I don’t know, trade him for expirings”
“Well… if you say it will help this team…”
“Definitely”
“OK, I’ll see what I can do”
“Thank you,” after these words Saunders left the room and Kalnins started to think about the possible trade partners.
***
“Don’t get me wrong, he is a good player, but we just can’t take his huge contract”
“I understand,” Kalnins sadly replied and hang up the phone. This was even harder, than he thought it would be. Nobody wanted to take Arenas with his big contract and Kalnins wasn’t sure if he wants to let him go any way.
A knock on the door disturbed Janis in his thoughts “Come in” he said and the person, who knocked cam in, it was John Wall.
“Hey, John, how can I help you?” Kalnins asked his young point guard.
“I heard, that you are trying to trade Arenas away” Wall said
“Where did you hear that?”
“There are rumors in the locker room...”
“Well, there is a possibility, that we trade him, but…”
“Don’t.” Wall interrupted him
“What?” Kalnins looked surprised “I thought you two weren’t getting along”
“Yeah, we have some hard time getting along, but he is a great player and eventually we will and I think then we can be a really good team, so don’t trade him, please”
“Well John, I don’t know what to say, I’ll think about it”
“OK, but think this well” Wall said, before leaving the room.
This was a new turn I in events for Kalnins, but he even didn’t time to think this through, when his cell phone rang.
“Hallo?”
“Is this Janis Kalnins, the General Manager of Washington Wizards?”
“Yes.”
“It’s the Charlotte Bobcats organization, we have agreed to your trade proposal”
Excellent, Kalnins thought to himself This should make things better around here.

Hey, I think, now, when you've took this break, everyone will look at your association with interest, not with the "He will Thierry this" look, you know what I mean?

However, you just can't blow another assoc., so good luck

Thanks

Well, Kalnins has to decide - go with Saunders, who says, that the teams biggest problem is Gil, or go with Wall, who says, that everything will be OK with him and Arenas.

New updates coming soon!

Wizards and Bobcats agree on a trade.
Kirk Hinrich will play for Charlotte now.
Today it was announced, that Washington Wizards and Charlotte Bobcats have agreed on a trade, which will send Kirk Hinrich and Nick Young to Charlotte, and Eric Dampier and Sherron Collins to Washington.
Wizards clearly went for the Dampier’s expiring contract on this, which will give them additional 13 millions under the cap this summer. The question is, why does a play-off team need to do that kind of thing? They have a pretty good team right now, and it would become even better, when John Wall and other young players would get used to NBA basketball. Yes, they gave up Nick Young, who, as it was rumored, was the reason of the bad vibe in the Wizards locker room. But they got rid of their “glue guy” Kirk Hinrich too, he was the guy, who could get into game, when Wall has a bad night and he was they guy, who can glue this team together in the locker room.
Apparently, Janis Kalnins, the GM of Washington Wizards thought differently. On the other hand, it is always good to have some extra money, if you have six contracts ending at the end of this year. And there are pretty important players with those contracts for this team, like Yi Jianlian, Al Thornton and Josh Howard. I doubt Kalnins has any intention of extending contracts of Dampier, Oberto or Armstrong this summer. Plus, there could be some big time free agents available, like Steve Nash, Yao Ming (Imagine, how awesome would be a Yao-Yi frontcourt), Pau Gasol and others.
Projected Line-up
Starters: C J.McGee(73) PF A.Blatche(77) SF J.Howard(80) SG G.Arenas(91) PG J.Wall(82)
Bench: SF A.Thornton(78) PF J.Yi(75) C E.Dampier(69)
Grade for Wizards: C
Charlotte got the full ticket with acquiring Kirk Hinrich, who will be their new starting Point Guard. He is perfect for them at this spot, as he is not selfish and he doesn’t ask for more shots, which is important in a team, where is Stephen Jackson. And he is familiar with Charlotte’s new developing Power Forward Tyrus Thomas, from the days in Chicago. However, Nick Young, especially knowing his problems in the previous team, isn’t a very good pick up for Bobcats.
They already have Henderson and Carrol covering the reserve SG/SF spots and now they add Young there. This wouldn’t sound so bad, if they hadn’t a great need for front court players. Now they have only Nazr Mohammed, Tyrus Thomas, Boris Diaw and sometimes Desagna Diop there. You will agree that this is a little too thin for a team, which is trying to get to the play-offs.
Projected Line-up
Starters: C N.Mohammed(71) PF T.Thomas(77) SF G.Wallace(90) SG S.Jackson(80) PG K.Hinrich(75)
Bench: PF B.Diaw (76) PG S.Livingston(73) SG G.Henderson(73)
Grade for Bobcats: B-
