Race 2 MVP
1) Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers
Stats: 32,3ppg; 5,3rpg; 9,8apg; 2,20spg; 2,87bpg
Team record: 23-7
Kobe is certainly the best player in the NBA right now, he is in the top 6 in the NBA in four different categories. He is number one in the league in scoring, third in assists, second in blocks and sixth in steals. His team shares the best record in Western Conference and Kobe is the main reason why.
2) Tim Duncan, San Antonio Spurs
Stats: 28,8ppg; 12,6rpg; 2,1apg; 1,76spg; 2,76bpg
Team record: 18-11
Who said, that Tim Duncan can’t play anymore? The big guy still has it in him and his team is doing pretty good too. He is the best rebounder in the league, the third best scorer and fourth best shot blocker. If Duncan continues like this, San Antonio can go far this year.
3) Amare Stoudemire, New York Knicks
Stats: 21,3ppg; 10,3rpg; 10,7apg; 1,57spg; 1,67bpg
Team record: 16-16
If you average a triple-double in the NBA you are something special, and so is Amare Stoudemire. Many said that he will do much worse in New York without Steve Nash, than he did in Phoenix with him. But he proved the critics wrong, though Knicks aren’t showing the game, that the fans are waiting for them to show.
4) LeBron James, Miami Heat
Stats: 24,8ppg; 5,6rpg; 9,5apg; 2,36spg; 2,82bpg
Team record: 20-8
James maybe lost some reputation this summer, but he certainly hasn’t lost his game. And now he doesn’t have to make all the baskets for his team, now he can do some passing to Wade, Bosh and other teammates. The big three started slow, but now they are running fast and hard.
5) Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas Mavericks
Stats: 27,4ppg; 10,9rpg; 0,7apg; 1,35spg; 1,76bpg
Team record: 25-9
Dallas has a much stronger roster this year, but Dirk is still their best man, he is in top eight in scoring and rebounding in the League and he has lead his team to the best record in the NBA (shared with Lakers and Celtics)
6) Chris Paul, New Orleans Hornets
Stats: 22,3ppg; 3,7rpg; 9,8apg; 1,90spg; 1,21bpg
Team record: 18-11
Chris Paul is back! After the not so successful last season Paul is motivated to show, that he still is the best point guard in the NBA right now and he is doing great proving that. Hornets are two completely different teams with and without Chris Paul, because with Paul they are back into top four of the Western Conference.
7) Deron Williams, Utah Jazz
Stats: 23,6ppg; 4,0rpg; 7,7apg; 1,70spg; 1,50bpg
Team record: 19-11
Williams had a great year last season and he continues to play like that this year too. The conversation of who is the best point guard is still open, right now Paul is ahead, because of his big impact on the team, but Williams has all the power to prove he is better.
8) Dwight Howard, Orlando Magic
Stats: 20,4ppg; 11,1rpg; 1,7apg; 1,23spg; 2,13bpg
Team record: 18-12
Howard is only 6th in rebounding and 10th in shot blocking this season, but he has improved his offensive game, which has made him into a much bigger threat to other teams. Orlando is still a top tier team, but Howard has to get his defense to last seasons level, so that they could battle with Miami and Boston.
9) Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder
Stats: 28,2ppg; 4,4rpg; 7,6apg; 1,71spg; 2,35bpg
Team record: 15-16
Many thought that Kevin Durant will be this years MVP and OKC will be a top tier team, but it hasn’t materialized yet. Durant is great, being in top 15 in points, assists and blocks, but the Thunder are desperately fighting for a play-off spot. Plus KD has changed his position this year – with the acquisition of Ilyasova, who is Thunders starting SF now, Durant has to play Shooting Guard and it is obvious that he hasn’t used to it yet.
10) Danny Granger, Indiana Pacers
Stats: 22,5ppg; 5,3rpg; 6,4apg; 1,81spg; 1,31bpg
Team record: 15-11
Indiana Pacers have a winning record and the biggest props for this goes to Danny Granger, who didn’t saw much playing time with team USA, but has shown a great play at the start of this season. He has lead his team to the fourth best record in the talent stacked Eastern Conference.
Outside Looking In: K. Garnett(BOS), P. Pierce(BOS), G. Arenas(WAS), C. Anthony(DEN), D. Wade(MIA), B. Davis(LAC)
