Need advice from Basketball game aficionados

It's been since about CH2k8 that I haven't played a basketball video game. Over the years, I guess I've just come across the updated rosters here and since I'm far more of an NCAA fan than an NBA fan, that always was good enough to me.

But of course, as time has passed, things have changed a bit and I've seen these NCAA mods done for the PC 2K series. So, for somebody who really wants the full NCAA experience, what do you recommend: a recent NBA 2K with an NCAA mod or CH2K8 with rosters? I don't care about graphics of older games, and to be honest, over time I've ended up going back to older games with updated mods for pretty much every sport. So I just thought those of you that live in this part of the forum might have good experienced, educated opinions on the subject. It's far more important to me to have an accurate season experience like what CH2K8 offers, so if you can really only play exhibition matches with 2K18, then that's probably not for me.

Thoughts?
(PS, it's the 360 version of CH2K8 that I have)

There have been some fantastic NCAA mods over the years, but there are obviously limitations on what can be done. In terms of modes, rules, and whatnot, it's going to be a largely re-skinned NBA experience. I don't say that to diminish the tremendous work that's gone into those mods, but it remains an NBA game at its core because that's something you can't really change. In short, if you want the full NCAA experience, the game needs to be based on the NCAA.

Take a look at these for NBA 2K14 on PC. Which is a pretty easy game to run. ( I get 35-40 fps at 766p on i3 dual core 2.3GHZ, 4GB ram and Intel HD 4000 Mobile)

Thanks a lot guys. I tried to get my email address changed and it caused a bit of a delay in re-registering. Thanks for the replies. Those mods DO look amazing but I loaded up College Hoops 2K8 and NCAA 10 and they're a really fully immersive experience. I just have to figure out where to get up to date rosters. Is there a community for that here at all, do you know?

We haven't had a lot of people sharing rosters for those games here over the years. There was a community of roster makers for College Hoops 2K8 over at Operation Sports, but I'm not sure how active they've been in recent years since the game's servers were shut down. That's not to say we wouldn't welcome people sharing those rosters here, but historically not a lot of people have.

There is one in our Downloads section here, from the 2013 season: College Hoops 2K8 2012/2013 Roster (Xbox 360)

That seems to be the most up to date one that's readily available.

OHHHH I get it now.

Theyre actually making a 2017-18 mod for CH 2K8 and that is probably the best PLAYING experience your going to get.

For a sim I would definitely recommend PCF 17 which has NCAA in it.

ITS ALSO FREE

Get the graphics mod for it aswell

Who's making a mod for CH2K8? You mean updating rosters? You can't mod console games.
And thanks for the PCF recommendation, I didn't know about it at all. Unfortunately I'm not a fan of sim games. I've tried, I just can't get into them. OOTP isn't bad. Something about baseball makes it more passable to me as a sim game.
