Why did you scrap the other one, anyway? It was awesome - couldn't you have just added FIFA into it somewhere?

This one looks good, in much the same way the last one did. (Y)

The thing is I was doing Premiership in PES, but here in FIFA I have all England cups and licensed teams (Premiership, Carling Cup, FA Cup). I will do the Champions League in PES.

News #1 - Arsenal sign Manager

Postby kibaxx7 on Fri Dec 22, 2006 3:54 am

Image

Image

ImageArsène Wenger, OBE (born October 22, 1949 in Strasbourg) is a French football manager, who is now managing ImageArsenal FC, where he has become the club's most successful manager, in terms of trophies, and the longest-running manager, and in terms of matches played (over 550, as of September 2006).

Wenger is the only foreign-born manager to win the Double in England, having done so twice, in 1998 and 2002. In 2004, he became the only manager in
ImageFA Premier League history to go through the entire season without a loss.

* Playing Career
He began playing amateur football as a defender or sweeper for various minor French clubs, turning professional in 1978, signing for ImageRC Strasbourg, and making his debut against ImageAS Monaco. Although Strasbourg won the French league in 1979, Wenger did not feature prominently in the team, playing only three times. In 1981, he obtained a manager's diploma and was appointed the coach of the Strasbourg youth team.

* Managerial Career
After an unsuccessful spell at ImageNancy, Wenger's managerial career took off when he became the manager of AS Monaco in 1987. He was initially successful with the club, winning the league in 1988 and the ImageCoupe de France in 1991, and signing high-calibre players such as ImageGlenn Hoddle, ImageGeorge Weah and ImageJürgen Klinsmann. However, he was sacked in 1994 after Monaco finished ninth in the league.

Wenger, who had refused an earlier proposal by
ImageBayern Munich, moved on to a successful 18-month stint with the Japanese J. League team ImageNagoya Grampus Eight.

Arsenal confirmed his appointment on September 28, 1996 and he officially took up the reins on October 1. His first match in charge was a 2-0 win over
ImageBlackburn Rovers on October 12, 1996, and in his first season at the club, Arsenal finished third. In his second season in charge (1997-98), Arsenal won both the Premiership and ImageFA Cup, the second Double in the club's history; it came after Arsenal made up a twelve point deficit to win the League title with two games to spare.

The following few seasons were comparatively barren, as Wenger resolved to bring new players to the squad with the controversial signing of Tottenham's
ImageSol Campbell as well as first-team players such as ImageFredrik Ljungberg, ImageThierry Henry and ImageRobert Pirès.

In 2003-04, Wenger won the Premiership title in 2004 without a single loss, the first top-flight team to manage this feat since
ImagePreston North End in 1888-89. However, ImageUEFA Champions League title still eludes him; the closest Arsenal have come was when they reached the final in 2005-06, the first time in club history, which they lost 2-1 to ImageFC Barcelona.

Toure has a great vertical leap and is one of the fastest players in his club (the others being Image Thierry Henry and Image Theo Walcott). Touré quickly established himself as one of the best centre-backs in the Premiership, and is now a fixture in the Arsenal starting eleven, and a firm fans favourite; in the 2005-06 season he established a formidable defensive partnership with Image Philippe Senderos. Both centre-backs had immaculate form towards the end of the season. He is now regarded as one of the finest in the world in his position.

Image Ed Smith, English, was born on September 3, 1990. He plays at defense and the board offered him a 2-year, €9,300 deal. He didn't decide yet.

Arsenal renewed the contracts of Henry (2-year deal, €110,000 per game), Image Jens Lehmann (2-year deal, €55,000 per game), Image Gilberto Silva (2-year deal, €44,000 per game), Image Fredrik Ljungberg (2-year deal, €57,000 per game), Image Cesc Fabregas (2-year deal, €62,000 per game), Image Lauren (2-year deal, €36,000 per game), Image Justin Hoyte (2-year deal, €16,000 per game) and Image Emmanuel Adebayor (2-year deal, €50,000 per game).

The board already told Image Mart Poom and Image Jeremie Aliadiere to begin the search for a new team as they won't be playing for the Gunners this year.
