I didn't make the court updates in the patch and apart from those ones that I've included, I don't have any other ones I can upload. Sorry.

Update doesn't like me

Postby NCAle on Mon Nov 10, 2008 7:37 am

The roster update is sweet, but I've loaded it on a fresh install of '07 and I've installed it on an official updated version of '07 and either way the game crashes to desktop after finishing a game. In other words, when the game is a final and I select "Quit Game" (in dynasty mode, I haven't tried any other game modes) it just crashes to desktop. Doesn't do that with previous updates prior to v2.1 or v2.2. In other words, both v2.1 and v2.2 both crash when trying to end a finished game whether updated by EA or not. Any thoughts?

I can't think of any changes that would cause crashes like that, usually if there's a database error there'll be a crash before you can even get to play the game (or when you try to load the rosters). Do you have any other unofficial patches installed? A conflict with something else is about the only thing I can think of, as I said nothing's changed that would cause an error like that. Do you get an error message at all?

no error messages whatsoever. I wonder if my "official ea patch" wasn't the proper patch, as EA of course abandons their games and support. Do you have a link to the official patch that you know to work well? Also, should I start with a fresh install, then the official patch, then roster update? Thanks for the help Andrew.

It shouldn't matter which order but I'd install the official patch first. You can grab a proper version of the official update here, the patch you require will depend on the version you have but all the updates are there.

No worries. :) If that doesn't work, I think I might be able to work something out since you say you can get v2.0 to work without any problems.

played, and crushed the Suns, then quit game, and same thing....crash. Grr. The first official patch I downloaded from another site, and I will say that the link you gave me worked better and corrected some gameplay issues that my other patch did not. Still, I had the same outcome. What do you think?

1 additional note...went back to your roster updates and the link for the 2.0 roster is not working. Am I doing something wrong?

It's not you, I updated the Downloads database software and it's now using a different link. Here's a direct link to v2.0:
http://www.nba-live.com/files/p08v2.zip

Once you've downloaded that, download this:
http://www.nba-live.com/andrew/misc/2to22.zip

Then do the following:

  1. Extract magasol.fsh, magasolB.ebo and screens~creazone~accefeet.big to your sgsm folder (eg C:\Program Files\EA Sports\NBA Live 07\sgsm)
  2. Extract everything else to the roster save folder (NLSC0809).
  3. If you want regular lineups, run lineups.bat. If you want to use the Uninjured rosters, run lineups-uninjured.bat. Only run one or the other.
  4. When that's finished, delete both .bat files as well as cdbflite.exe and cdbflite.ini from your saves folder

When you've done that, load up the game and load the rosters. Check Charlotte's roster; if you see Linton Johnson on their roster then everything has worked and you should have all the lineup changes from v2.2. Hopefully that should work.

A note to anyone else reading this: if v2.2 is working fine for you, there is no need to do this. This is just a fix for NCAle's problem, if v2.2 isn't crashing for you then there's no need to do this; you'll just apply the same changes that are already made in v2.2. ;)

I am doing what you asked, however, step 1 (the 2.0 roster) is trying to install it's files into my c:programfiles folder. Pretty sure NBAlive isn't going to find/use files in my general programfiles folder. Sorry to question, just doesn't make sense. Can you clarify?

It should be installing them to C:\Program Files\EA Sports\NBA Live 07, it's set to detect the folder in which you've installed NBA Live 07. If it places them in the wrong folder (v2.0 did have some issues with its installation), you'll need to move them to the correct folder.

Wow. Total frustration. You're roster update works fine, I'm sure. Like you said, weird that 2.0 worked but not 2.1 or 2.2. Totally not your issue, but hoping you may have a thought as to why game won't play now. Here's a time line.

-game used to work fine
-reformated hard drive
-updated drivers
-game doesn''t work
-updated video driver (again)
-game doesn't work
-updated to newest version of directx
-game doesn't work

Aditionally, a totally fresh install, an updated install, or a roster update install all crash after quiting a "finalized" game. I can quit midgame just fine. Sounds like some weird videocard issue, no? I don't get it. Nothing has changed on my computer that I can think of from pre-hard drive wipe to now. Any thoughts to help point me in the right direction would be fantastic cause EASports tech support just regurgitates paragraphs from their online help files!

Nothing else comes to mind, I can't think of what could be causing that problem. Were you able to get v2.0 installed again? If you can install 2.0 without any problems and run those batch files I posted before, you should have a working copy of the latest rosters.

I did get them installed, thank you for the clear instruction as well. I'm pretty frustrated here. This simple fact is a totally fresh install crashes in the same place as well, regardless of any updates/roster updates/etc. Flippin weird. I have less on my hard-drive now that could interfere with the game, so it's pretty frustrating to see it crash. I don't even have office installed! What a bummer... :-(

To clarify, not only did I get them installed, but the rosters were current, so it worked fine. The game just doesn't work for some reason. Thank you again for your help Andrew!

Strange...have you tried rolling back your drivers? Usually it's best to have the most up to date drivers of course but sometimes you run into issues like that.
