Fantasy draft with altered rosters

In season mode I've tried to load a roster which has deleted, through DBF editting, some players who normally get fantasy drafted but I do not wish to appear in my season. I first load the roster, then start a new season with the fantasy draft; however, the list of draftable players always reverts back to the default one with the unwanted players showing up. Any ideas how to fix this (there are a number of players who I do not wish to appear so DBF editting post-draft would be too much)? Thanks for any help offered.

The most effective method is to change their TEAM and CASH_TEAM to 32 (the Retired Pool) and their ISHISTORIC value to True.
