SUM update MOD vs live 08

Postby generalachoo on Sun Nov 04, 2007 9:17 am

Hi Im new to the boards and am just impressed by the community here as the bball sim for PC is quite limited.

Anyways, Ive been playing live 07 for a few months now. I have a good dynasty, but there are some problems.
1) PG Dom (as mentioned)
2) Waaaay too EZ (of course im using superstar and have tweaked the sliders).
3) Jumpshots are horribly inconsistent while its too ez to drive and score.
4) No post player value like in real life. IE you can score 50 points with a decent guard, but its very difficult to dominate in the post.
5) sounds: I dont like how when the ball hits off the rim the sound is not realistic. It should be like a springy clang. Thats one thing that really makes watching games fun on TV, and makes it feel like you are at the arena. (Minor I know).

I have not installed any patches before except for Andrew's rosters.

Now my question is, is it worth it to upgrade to live08 or to upgrade to the SUM patch to fix those issues and make the game better overall? I am asking this because I have heard that live08 has a lot of simulation problems and that would impact the dynasty perofrmance.

Thanks a lot guys and keep up the good work!

If you really like dynasty mode, then you should stick with 07. I mean 07's simulation engine has it's problems, but it's so much better then 08's simulation engine that it's unbelievable.

I thought there was a patch that changed the sound of Live 07's rim. I think they just used a file from a different live, 05 or 06 maybe. Check the 07 download section of the main site, if you don't find it, search the 07 announcements forum.

I would say get the SUM mod. Then you can get Andrew's latest roster or Alby's "Realistic Rosters" that have been updated for opening day of the new NBA season.
