Chicago Dynasty - team setup suggestions

Postby gimp on Sat Oct 20, 2007 12:04 pm

Hey there,

I started a dynasty with Chicago and I'm still in the first year. I like it so far but I still haven't really decided how I want to proceed with it.

The team is build around a created player right now and it is supposed to stay that way. It's a point guard I traded for Hinrich. The problem I have right now is I don't know how to setup the rest of the team.

Trade a very good center so there is someone who can score in the paint or complement the team with allround players. My big guys are getting kinda old and they will be retiring in the future I think.

The setup right now:

C - Ben Wallace
PF - P.J. Brown
SF - Nocioni
SG - Gordon
PG - Created player

I drafted L. Aldridge and R. Gay. I like them both but they don't seem to like Chicago according to the market thingy. Should I ignore that players don't like the city? Will they refuse to resign after the current contract? If I can ignore it (since I can't influence market anyway) I would have a nice C in Aldridge and Gay should also be progressing into a fine SF (he has had a 29 point game in simulation). If it the market does really matter, then I'd have a big problem since 6 players on the team want to play in a smaller market

The roster is the old one I suppose. I updated it but missed to turn off the draft.

I don't know much about current players since I lost track of the NBA for a couple of years now. Any help/suggestions are appreciated.

PS: I simulate a lot but I also play some games by intervention (only the last quarter since I set it to 12min). I don't know if this matters for my team setup.

I have the Bulls also. The first thing I did was get rid of P.J Brown, during the first year he's 71 overall but that will deteriorate very fast in the next years. The problem with Brown is his heavy contract (about 8 mil, I think) so it might take you a while to find a good trade. The other thing that I did in the first season was to get rid on Nocioni. He won't develop a lot, but Luol Deng (the back-up SF), on the other hand will develop much better.

Aldridge and Gay are nice choices, they'll develop nicely, especially Aldridge. As far as I know, the market attribute isn't very important. I was able to sign players that didn't like the city without any problems.

Thanks a lot for your input. Good to hear that the city doesn't really matter.

I won't be able to develop Deng because I traded him already  Wallace is a really good defensive center and I hope Aldridge is going to be a good "replacement". Well, I still don't know who to get for Brown. Choose another defensive player under the basket or go for a scorer?

Gordon does a very good job at SG so I think I can leave that position alone for the moment. Hm, gotta browse around and see what's available at SF and PF as a good addition to the team.

I am currently running a dynasty with the Bulls also. Drafted Andrea Bargnani (forgot the 2nd draft). First year didn't really change much except I traded B. Wallace and L. Deng for D. Howard. in Orlando, and made some trades to the Bucks for A. Bogut (I think I trade some of the players in the 60 ratings to them, don't quite remember)

I would advise you to trade B. Wallace soon, since he is aging fast and has no offensive flow whatsoever. I signed J. Howard on the 2nd year and traded him soon after to Denver for Carmelo =]

Nocioni isn't bad but he really doesnt develop, so probably a good choice to trade him

Current Starter stand as:
C- A. Bogut Ovrl 89 Star: Inside Scorer, Power, Superstar- Inside Stopper
PF- D. Howard Ovrl 90 Superstar: Power, Inside Stopper
SF- Carmelo Anthony Ovrl 94 Superstar: Inside Scorer, Outside Scorer, Power, Star- Highflyer
SG- Ben Gorden Ovrl 88 Superstar: Outside Scorer, Shooter
PG- Kirk Hinrich Ovrl 88 Superstar: Outside Scorer, Shooter, Playmaker, Outside Stopper
