If the patch replaced the default jerseys. One solution would be to create seperate jerseys with the Finals logos and add new entries to teamgear.dbf so that the Finals jerseys could be selected if desired, otherwise the regular jerseys would be worn by default.

Well, if you were doing it for all 30 NBA teams then it wouldn't exactly be a five minute job. It's certainly feasible though.

I think that would be best. I remember the Nets wearing retro jerseys for one game in the 2003 Finals but generally teams stick to their regular home and away jerseys and occasionally the alternate in Finals games. It's up to you though since you're editing the graphics. The dbf editing won't exactly take five minutes but it's pretty straightforward so if you did any retro jerseys with the Finals logo I could add entries for them as well.
