THE ANSWER to the laptops that crash

Postby JKaytheISH on Thu Mar 08, 2007 6:54 pm

I've had the problem with NBA Live 07 crashing after a dynasty game, trying to exit to the dynasty schedule/menu.
EASport's tech says that some laptop versions of certain graphic cards may not be supported.
So i got mad and looked for a new driver or something that could work, unfortunately, the newest one was the one I had.
But there's the BETA's.
"But beta's aren't compatible for Geforce GOs"
oh.. obviously I have a nvidia card, for ATI or whatever... sorry. oops.
but anyways, I did some research, and yes you can install them to your laptop using modded infs.

Now I have Windows vista, but either way I used the modded inf to install my driver and for ish and giggles I tried to play a dynasty game and when i click quit i said... here comes the crash.
It didn't crash.
It was perfect.
Not only that, the driver was pretty sweet and made the gameplay smoother than before on my enormously sexy XPS M1210.
your welcome, Nvidia based laptop owners.

Oh and just to elaborate, and for those who are confused about how to do this...
aka... the bad observers... here's what you need to know.
I went to the release 100 drivers area and got the 101.41 version for the vista 32 bit. If you don't have vista, I suggest you do some research yourself for a standalone version of the driver for your OS. I'm assuming most of you guys are looking for XP?
Why standalone? To use the modded INFs you need to have all those installation files accessible to you.

*However* I never tested this, but if you do download it from nvidia's Beta driver's site and run it, it does unload all the installation contents to your computer, and when the installation program runs, i assume you can just cancel the installation and load the modded inf to the folder that you had the installation files unloaded to.*

Anyways, after you do that, you install it.
how?
read.

That's for XP, there's a link within there for the Vista instructions.
If you have more questions... sorry.
I never really came here til yesterday...
I got some good info and just wanted to share this.
cheers.

Normally this kind of thread would bring on flaming because of the double post. I'd rather see this stickied since is provides a lot of helpful information for both laptop and vista users.
Opinions are my own.
