Video Card Help/Suggestions

Postby btam2 on Mon Jan 22, 2007 7:00 am

I'm looking into a new notebook, and for video card I would like to know which of these would be best for NBA Live 07 if any of these are good

First, the specs...
Windows XP
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5600 (1.83GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 667MHz FSB)
**probably gonna upgrade to 1.83GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 667MHz FSB
1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz, 2 Dimm

So the video card...it first comes with Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950...what do you think of this for 07?

I can upgrade to either of the 2:
1.) 128 MB ATI Mobility RADEON X1300 Hypermemory
2.) 256 MB ATI Mobility RADEON X1400 Hypermemory

Well of course the more epxensive would be better, but I would like to know if I do upgrade, will it make that much of a difference? Is the 256 MB one a good one to use for NBA Live 07? Thanks

It's tough gaming well on a notebook, NBA Live 07 does not require too powerful of a graphics card, depending on the settings :)

I think with the integrated card you will be limited to the lowest (ugliest) settings, which doesnt look good :-p

I'd upgrade to either of the dedicated cards, both will be better, but it depends on your budget to what you want to get :) the x1400 will be a tiny bit better, but also more expensive :)

I dont mind paying extra for the X1400...i think its like just $99 more. On a scale from 0-10, 10 being highest, how would the quality be for the X1400?

Also will X1400 allow me to be able to turn on lighting? My old notebook's video thing wouldn't allow lighting, I'm hoping this can.

Well, putting the integrated card at 0/10, I'd put the x1400 at 6.5/10 in general gaming (a mid-range card), as far as nba live 07 (current gen) performance, I'd put it at close to 8/10.

you will be able to turn on lighting (should be), you probally wont be able to max out with AA or AF, but it should look decent ;)

I'm only gonna be playing NBA Live, so I guess for NBA Live 8/10 is pretty good. I came across another notebook, the HP dv6000t. The X1400 notebook was the Dell E1505. For the HP, I see the video card would be 256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7400 which would be $70. W

Which would be better for NBA Live..the x1400 or the NVIDIA mentioned above? Thanks
