Weird move done by 3point superstars

I see it a lot done online where they kinda poke up the ball and it goes in 90% of the time.. I just want to know what it is. I think it's lame that people do it the entire game but I have been trying to figure it out and have been unable to do so.

It can be regular dudes too like Billups (just regular freestyle shooter). Can anyone explain it.

Overall, i think the moves that a player makes with the Freestyle controls are awkward and hard to control.

Most of the time, it's not worth it.

Are you talking about the quick release set shot? If you are, it can be done by pushing the right analog stick right.
