Talk about NBA Live 07 here.
Wed Dec 13, 2006 2:15 am
I think mine has to be:
"At this point I don't know. There is a certain code of ethics between players and at this point in the game that is just disrespectful."
Steve Kerr after you dunk on the opposition in a blowout.
What are your favorite lines by Marv and Steve?
Wed Dec 13, 2006 2:17 am
"That's what you've got to do in a situation like this, late in a close game....."
Steve, with 30 seconds left in the FIRST QUARTER.
Wed Dec 13, 2006 2:24 am
"They have carelessly let this lead slip away..."
When the opposition cuts the lead from 6 to 2.
Wed Dec 13, 2006 3:09 am
"But it's very easy to shoot the ball when there is noboby within 30 feet of you..."
when the CPU hits a shot whit 2 bigger defenders right in front of him...
Wed Dec 13, 2006 3:41 am
I feel quite a bit of pessimism about the game from you all. But, hey, if that is your favorite line...
"This is the worst performance I have ever seen in the NBA."
Steve on a dismal 85 point Rockets performance
Wed Dec 13, 2006 3:41 am
"And he steps out of bounds"
No one touched the inbounds pass, just kinda rolled out of bounds
Thu Dec 14, 2006 2:07 am
"Sometimes you're the bug, and sometimes you're the windshield..."
S.Kerr.
Thu Dec 14, 2006 4:21 am
"The last time this guy hit two free throws, I think a Democrat was in office. "
- Steve Kerr
The one liners are the absolute best part of Live 2007. I don't even mind that some of them are repetitive. They're extremely appropriate and they've gotten rid of a lot of the errors. (like saying a dude is wide open when two defenders are riding his jock)
Thu Dec 14, 2006 6:54 am
Yeah I love the commentary. Sure there are mistakes in it, you guys have probably no idea how hard it is to code in commentary that holds up interest, and commentary is one of the best parts in EA sports games.
There are some hilarious comments this year, and even though not entirely accurate at times, they add flavor to the game. And as with previous years, I enjoy comments about players to learn facts I did not know about before.

I dunno dude, I get lots of 'nobodys within 30 feet' stuff when players are obviously defended closely.
I enjoy comments about players to learn facts I did not know about before.
me too!

In well written code it is pretty easy to get rid of those announcing mistakes.
The best line I've heard is on XBOX 360 version. I shot a full court shot by pressing the wrong button, when I intended to pass to someone. Marv said:
"Someone pressed the wrong button."
That was a clever addition.

I don't know about the best but I absolutely hate this sentence: "You can talk about All-Star appearances, leading the league at different categories like points or assists but all of that pales to being on the cover of NBA Live 07"... or something like that. That is just wrong. I hope it was sarcasm but I doubt it.
Sun Dec 17, 2006 6:13 pm
Is this still in the dunk contest?
Kenny Smith: "That's like two tens! Like 10 plus 2... no, 10 times 2, 20!"
Mon Dec 18, 2006 12:08 am
Kenny smith isnt even in the Dunk Contest anymore sadly...they changed it to Greg Anthony who isnt nearly as amusing....
i like the "Steve, on truth serum today" after you draw a charge and steve kerr admits to letting people have the shots rather than take a hit....
Wed Dec 20, 2006 12:00 am
This is a 2 liner.
"The offense have done a really good job here, getting the ball to their best free throw shooter" (Or something like that.)
"And misses them both!" - Marv
and
"Why is he even in the game right now? You get a terrible free throw shooter to put the game away" (or something like that.
"And hits them both."
Steve Kerr always jinxes my players, so I feel pretty confident getting the ball into Shaq's hands when they start fouling.

Steve Often says that your are behind when you actually lead the game...lol

lol that -is- sarcasm in game

It is rare to see EA games pull a developer prank or something easter eggish in their games these days, but this is one of those. Another being certain dev names being called by the announcers if I remember right.

frequently call a 2-2-1 full court press and he will say you're behind
Wed Dec 20, 2006 10:31 pm
"Hinrich puts up a one man show tonight...!"
when an opponent player makes a basket with hinrich sitting on the bench for 5 minutes

It's BS in any case...

"that is why he won the j.f. kennedy award, he purposedly missed the shot to let the other team to the game" or something like that forgot the exact statement. its funny when u miss the shot and ur leading by a large margin..
Fri Dec 22, 2006 3:19 am
I fucked up and got forced out of bounds last night playing a game and Steve and Marv started discussing if they saw the big white line and knew what it meant. Then said quietly after this exchange "You know, you would think the user would know the rules..." I then proceeded to give my computer the finger
Fri Dec 22, 2006 2:35 pm
"Marv, I know your a big fan of cliche's. Momma said there'd be days like these."
"Well, thats good. You contest one shot out of 20."
"Isiah Thomas may not have a job here tomorrow, Marv. If the owners watching, he might fire him on the spot."
Marv - "Would you call this trying to pile on?"
Steve - "Oh they are mocking the opponent right now with this blow out advantage right now. They're just having fun out there. If I'm the defense I'm committing a hard foul next time, you can't get away with that."
Marv - "Tough Talk."
Steve -(laughs)"You don't think I'm capable of a hard foul?(Marv laughs) I was an enforcer in my day, Marv."(laughing)
Marv - "Steve!! ...Lets get outta here."
Steve - "Awwww, you gotta be kidding me? That's an embarrasment, he should be embarrassed for himself, for his family, for the entire human race."
Marv - "I believe he has his head down, covering tears.
Steve - "He feels shame."
Marv - "Yes."
My absolute favorite - I was getting my ass wooped by Phoenix when Steve Nash missed a layup.
"Marv, that's why this guy won the Walter J Kennedy award for citizenship. He's a very nice young man, he knows the other team is embarrassed. He'd like to make this score a little closer."

I like Marv and Steve, but I think the best announcer duo ever would be Ralph Lawlor and Bill Walton.
Sun Dec 24, 2006 4:23 pm
Really? What about Chick 'n' Stu?.
I believe that Lawlor is a great commentator. He and Walton had chemistry as partners, especially when the Clippers weren't very good. They could entertain you if the game wasn't very exciting. Sometimes I was annoyed by Walton, other times I enjoyed his color commentary. I see some of that in Michael Smith, Lawlor's recent partner, but nothing like Walton.
