How can I sign players like Tim Hardeway, Larry Johnson, David Robinson, Chris Mullin etc. to NBA-Teams?
It's no problem with the other legends but you can not sign those mentioned above.
What do I have to change with DBF-Commander or something?
Thanks in advance.

change their original team(in players.dbf file) to the team u want the player to be signed onto.

For some reson, the new legends are only on the decades teams and not the legends pool. So yes, DBF editing is the only way to go.
Also Dee Brown and Larry Nance are still hidden players, I haven't encountered any others.

@TRUE2006: Is it possible to do that for a specific roster only or only for the default rosters?
@OldFoolStyle: How can you unlock Dee Brown & Larry Nance???
Fri Nov 24, 2006 12:56 am
u can do it for anyroster as long as you know what ur doing in dbf editing i would have to look at players dbf to see how to unlock dee brown and larry nance prolly have to make their status TRUE or something.

The ORIGTEAM and TEAM codes for Dee and Larry are 38(referee), I switch this to 40(legends pool). You can also put them directly on other teams, but you have to make shure the team has room and figure out what roster position to put them on.
If your looking for them with DB commander or simular, Nance is playerid 1301 Dee is 23.

if you have same roster position the game will crash ive had this happen before so check the roster positions for that team u put them on

So I guess it's the same with David Robinson etc. that you just have to put those to 40!?
I'll have to try this out when I'm done with working...
Thanks a lot, guys.
Have a good 1!

Is it hard to edit the dbf file? Because I do not dare to attempt it, and I have been playing with all the legends in the legends pool pulled into current rosters and would like to obtain those in the all-stars into their respective teams too. If I attempt to change the values to 40, what will happen to the all-stars teams?
This is really informative, and I would really want to try it out, thanks for helping!

Just make a backup of your roster. If you just change them to 40, exit DBC and load up your rosters again, they should be there. Just make sure you don't try to sign them to their respective teams in DBC, because the roster positions may clash and cause a crash. Just sign them how you would ingame with other free agents except this time using players from the free agent pool. Just make sure you make a backup before you do so.

Best way to import them is to put them as team 50 which is free agent then u can sign them and not have to worry about roster position

Thanks, I will see if I am capable of such editing, because if so, this is my first time making an attempt to edit the dbf file.
Tue Nov 28, 2006 3:31 am
just make sure u edit TEAM category there is also a ORIGTEAM section too if you want you can make them both 50

Ok I looked into the file, and yes, I am puzzled about ORIGTEAM and TEAM. What's the difference? I can make Dee Brown and Larry Nance from 38/40 to both 40/40, that will bring them out of the referee category but they were already in the legends pool. Probably they were named 'hidden' is because referees(38) is considered hidden right?
Let's say I want to get George Mikan out from the 50s(33) to the legends pool(40), if I edit both ORIGTEAM and TEAM to 40, what will happen to George Mikan in the 50s team? Will he disappear? If he will disappear, can I copy the entire George Mikan to a new player ID and make 1 into the legends pool so that the original 50s still has the George Mikan? Will 33/40 work for him being in the 50s team AND being in the legends pool?
I figured I could put 40 as long as I sign them to a team IN THE GAME and not in the DBC(by putting 40/12 for eg. ?)
And lastly, how do I save the edited DBF...I can't find a save option...
Thanks for answering my questions in advance, seriously a newb at this at this point of time. Thanks!
Edit: I found out how to 'save', just exit the application

Update:
I created replicas of 10 players placed at the bottom of the database with 10 new player IDs:
Lovellette Clyde
Mikan George
DeBysschere Dave
Olajuwon Hakeem
Mullin Chris
Johnson Larry
Richmond Mitch
Hardaway Tim
Robinson David
Malone Karl
Thereafter I changed ORIGTEAM and TEAM a couple of times:
ORIGTEAM 40 TEAM 40
ORIGTEAM (default, consists of -1, 12,29 etc.) TEAM 40
ORIGTEAM 50 TEAM 50
Once I changed to these, I would have clones of:
Lovellette Clyde x1
Olajuwon Hakeem x3
xY - denotes how many replicas
And I cannot view their player info, when I tried to sign/view, it crashes. What is the thing that I did wrongly? You guys noted not to sign them into their teams in the DBC, but I didn't.
Please advise thanks!

Just remember you will also need to copy the lines from the appearance DBF also and match the player IDs. One problem may be the PLYRPKG are still the same. Try changing them, and changing them in the new appearance lines also.

What's with the PLYRPKG? Aren't they still the same? appearance.dbf also...anymore files to copy?
