Problem !

Sat Nov 04, 2006 12:46 pm

I restored my computer and NBA Live 07 got "erased" as I should say off the computer, ofcourse. And now when I try to install it, I put the DVD (game) into the CD-Drive and the screen comes up and I press Install, now after I press Next and find the Install Directory (My Computer>Program Files>EA Sports>NBA Live 07) and the installing starts, but then when the process gets to 54% an error comes up saying "A problem occured when trying to transfer the file 'audio/aems/xcrowd.ast' from the media."

I tried this three times and always the same shit happens, does anybody know anything that could help me with this problem ?

Thanks in advance, SAballer

I had a similar problem when I intalled it. I called up EA sports and they recomended to install it in Same Mode. It takes a bit longer, but it should work.

Same mode? I'm pretty sure they said Safe Mode.

To see if the disk is damaged, you can try to copy the xcrowd.ast file manually to your hard drive. This will tell you if the disk is damaged or not. It's in the "0compressed.zip" file on the DVD. Also try disabling any antivirus programs or any 3rd party applications(i.e. - non-Microsoft programs) during the re-installation.

Ok lemme get this right.....when it gets to 54% of the installing process it says that there was a problem transfering the file 'audio/aems/xcrowd.ast'...so when that pops up I go to My Computer >>> Open NBA Live 07 DVD >>> 0compressed >> go to the audio/aems folder and copy and then paste it into the Program Files >> EA Sports >>> NBA Live 07 >> audio >> aems Folder ??

Is that right ?

Nope, Same Mode...

Yeah, it is safe mode, I guess I don't care enough about my posts to proof read them before I hit Submit.

To see if your disk is damaged:
Put in your NBA Live 07 disk.
Exit out of any installation windows (aka do not try and install)
Open your My Computer Folder
Right click on the NBA Live 07 logo and select Open
Select all of the files and hit Copy
Go to your Program Files folder and create a new folder
Paste all of the documents in that folder

If all of the files are pasted into this new folder without an error, this means your disk is fine. Install the game with Windows in Safe Mode.

If there is an error that comes up when you the files, it means your disk is damaged. This means you will need to take it back to the store and trade it for a new one. If for some reason the store won't trade you, then send it in to EA Sports to get it replaced.

Before you do all of this remember to make sure that there are no scratches, smudges or dust on the disk.

Anyways, if it is possible, it might be better if you just call EA Sports up and talk to them since they have staff that are payed to answer questions like these.
