Another PG domination fix

I tried all the fix and so far none of them were to my liking. I found this by accident but if you replace the file "plays.dbf" in originaldb with the "plays.def" from NBA Live 06, PG will no longer shoot every time but actually set up plays. So far this is the best fix I have encounter. Here is the stats from one quarter, me using Detroit against Miami.

Not players.dbf, plays.dbf. This works really good, I can't believe it.

I tested it on several teams. It works great! It even works with pro hop and drop step being set at higher levels (works best when set to 0). The PG comes up and sets up plays after you score a basket. If you misss, they run fast break like how it's suppose to be. I can't believe something as stupid as this fixes the problem. Finally, I can start my season.

Replace the plays.dbf file with the file in your save folder or originaldb if you don't have a save folder yet.

Yes, it is possible, I have done it and it works very well. I will be releasing a patch in the next few days which will give you real NBA shot distribution and gameplay.

edit: This just adds more to my fix. Great find. This game is gonna be great yet!

Can I just clarify so I know I'm doing the right thing?

1) Copy plays.dbf (in NBA Live 06's originaldb folder) to the same folder under NBA Live 07?

or

2) Copy plays.dbf to the saved game folder of, for instance, a dynasty you play.

Which one?

Cos I did both and Sean Livingston still put up 19 of 58 shots for the CPU

the second one. copy the plays.dbf from 06 to your currentdb folder and to your saves folder. if you have none, just place it in the currentdb folder, and that should do it.

i just did that, playing miami versus dallas. i don't know if its just fluke, but it worked. i didn't make a screenshot, but after the first quarter, without subs it looked like this:

so i think thats ok. but i don't know. i will play a full game and post the results. plus i will play with another team, probably wahsington-lakers or something were the point guard always scored a lot.

it works guys....something like i could say that..its totally fix..about the problem were facing "pg rulez"

i played 2 times 10 minutes superstar..and it just scored fairly...

ok, it don't work. i played against two teams with orlando. the first one was sac-town. bibby scored 28 points on 53 % shooting while artest took 15 shots and rahim 10.

the second one was portland. here are the stats:

as you can see, dickau scored 32 points on me, and my defense is not bad.

it's just horrible. you can play as much defense as you want, either your opponent scores whenever he wants (dickau), or he misses, and the big men jumping around and grab one off. rebound after another and dunks on you (randolph, magloire).

i don't think this game can be repaired. now I'm asking myself why i played it once more....

It is still working for me great. I have noticed that PG and SG do shot more if you miss a lot as they run the breaks after misses. But watch after you make a fg, they do set up plays and you should see a dramatic change. Make sure you put the file in the right place. By the way Dickau should not even be playing that many min., you should decrease his stamina.

i placed it in wokringdb, origdb, currentdb and in the nba live07/database/origdb folder.

decreasing his stamina wouldn't help as he still would run with his head trough the wall aka the basket.

btw, after i made a free throw he did setup plays. but after he gave the ball away, he got it back after the shot clock almost expired. so, probably he wouldn't score 30 points anymore, but he still would jack aup 20+ shots

Didn't work for me either, J. Jack spent his time shooting like crazy. He didn't look for contact in the paint though, just long-range shots, which is weird...

I think maybe you had a combination of things that somehow all helped in not having PG domination. The plays.dbf file certainly is not a solution by itself.

I played 2 games the first game pgs on both teams scored 30 plus pts and took almost that many shots, so i dropped all the pgs stamina to about 48 that solved the pg dom prob but created another, before i changed theier stamina i was getting everybody to sub but the pgs somehow wouldn't sub, but after changing stamina now only the the pgs sub crazy crazy game this is, ea better hurry up lol this is ridiculous

Wouldn't a company concerned about their fans have at least one developer working on solving the issues in NBA Live?

The patch, at least according to the released list, will not address this PG issue. It's a major problem.

Don't think to highly of EA. You're forgetting, that CPU don't even sub in bench until the patch. That's how much thought they put into the game. I'm not sure why it's not working for others. Maybe I uploaded the wrong file.

It is working for me. At times PG waits for play to set up that they get 3 second calls for being in the paint too long. I do have my speed set up at 34, physical defensive play at 55 which might influence PG ability to drive. Let me know if the this patch works or not. Again replace it with your current plays.dbf file in save folder.

Because they didn't even test NBA Live 07.

OR

They did and they couldn't be bothered to fix these rudimentary problems because, atleast on the PC, they have a market monopoly on the genre and YOU don't have a choice.

i tried it, it worked somehow.. the ballhogging in the part of the PG has minimized.. but the PG will still score a lot.. it wasn't a complete fix.. but all in all, it was good
